In Srinagar, a Muslim women's organization – the Dukhtaran-e-Millat – vows to impose the strict Islamic code on women through violence and declares that it is in the interests of women. The leader of this outfit, Asiyah Andrabi, was jailed several times for working against the nation and for being a conduit for money to jihadi groups who used that help to kill Hindus and create disaffection among people against India. The US State Department Report of 1995 held a Dukhtaran-e-Millat activist responsible for a parcel bomb blast at the BBC office in Srinagar in which one person was killed and two injured.

The DeM has recently been linked to certain money laundering cases. Andrabi was booked under POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) for receiving ISI money through hawala channels. Whenever she speaks against India, there is no emotion or any sense of regret.

She was never subjected to a narco test nor did the media feel anything bad about her. Instead, women's groups interviewed her, called her the "new face of Muslim feminism", and glossy magazines splashed her interviews with a tinge of revolutionary romanticism.

For Indian seculars, the Srinagar crowd working against India brings added fizz, a thrill and a heroism that has to be "understood" rather than condemned. Serious academic columns are published saying that if they are so passionately and aggressively pursuing separatism, why shouldn't we give the Kashmir valley to them?

It's only when a lady monk is killed in Kandhamal or arrested in Nashik and appears to be wearing saffron rather than green that expressions become stern, the law becomes the guiding force, narco tests are immediately ordered and before anything can be even remotely established, the person is pronounced guilty. No women's organization comes out openly to say she is a woman and hence the police must protect her honour and religious obligations at all cost.

Her father says she is innocent. No one gives any importance to that statement.

She cooperates during the narco test and nothing incriminatory is proved. The police say she practices yoga, hence the narco test didn't work.

The bike, the RDX, the targets – nothing is proved. Yet, she is tortured in police custody.

The women's commission that swung into action when an item girl used it to get cheap publicity and hot assignments maintains a studied silence.

The Human Rights Commission remains unfazed and the red sirens of the Marxist class look the other way. They had been demanding a pardon for Afzal although the Supreme Court convicted him. But the issues involved were of secular nature; hence they had to speak.

Nobody still knows what Pragya actually did or didn't do. She has to be severely dealt with just because the colour she wears is not registered as secular in the government's registry of protection where rapists, extortionists and scandalous criminals get a cabinet berth and a murder accused jailbird becomes a chief minister for being on the correct side politically.

First they said an army officer used 60 kg of RDX to blow up the Samjhauta Express. Then the denial comes; no RDX was used, it was ammonium nitrate, oh no perhaps IEDs. Then the Mecca Masjid blasts are linked with Malegaon, then the Hyderabad police issue an official statement that nothing has been found to link the two. The motorbike, the disfigured numbers on the chassis, the absconding person, the real mastermind, the saffron terror guru ... Remember when the Kanchi Shankaracharya was arrested, what kind of charges were levelled against him? Rape, murder, financial fraud and womanizing. And women came foreword to issue statements about how they were "lured". What happened afterwards? Even "nothing" won't convey the nothingness of the entire plot.

But the damage to the great seat of Hindu reverence had been done.

After Kanchi and the Kandhamal murders, a new tool in form of Hindu terrorism has been crafted to make the Batla House terror gang happy.

Not a single Hindu will ever condone terrorism. It's not in our genes. Our blood group in this matter is different. If someone does it he is guilty of doing an un-Hindu act. Anyone caught and proven guilty must be severely dealt with. But why humiliate a majority community that defines the character of the nation for election gains?

Words, cacophony, a celebrative secular media's new 24-hour preoccupation – lynch the saffron, light the party fire.

Just one incident and look how Batla House terrorism, Jamia's protective belligerence, Assam blasts, Pakistani flags carried in Bodo areas by Muslim infiltrators, the Ram Setu destruction and affidavits that humiliate Hindus, everything got under cover. Only the newly manufactured "Hindu terrorism" is reigning in the national debate as a new fashion statement.

The invention of "Hindu terrorism" helped the government get out of a defensive shell and be extraordinarily active to crack a whip against "bad elements".

It had never displayed this action-oriented thrill when the Delhi blasts occurred or the Jaipur blasts claimed more than 60 lives. No Maulana was arrested or caricatured in the media as the bloody green terror guru or ghastly Islamic terrorism.

No, they said, terror has no religion hence these blasts, though done with a holy book surrounded by AK47s, and long quotes from it to justify the blasts and the killings of Hindus shouldn't be sourced to religion. These must not be explained away as Islamic terror, but just the work of some misguided people who are giving a bad name to a peaceful, brotherly way of worship.

Fine.

But when they see saffron, everyone loves to tie them with the speeding bus of law enforcement and constitutional propriety and beat them black and blue to prove a secular manliness of dhimmitude variety.

Pragya says she was tortured in police custody but no one took any notice of that. Why?

Even the most dreaded women criminals have been accorded human rights protection. Pragya is no criminal, she doesn't advocate violence against the state, she is not a traitor, she doesn't impose any kind of obscurantist code on women nor does she use acid, like Andarabi, to make other women fear her dictates. She has not said she is out to kill others to bring about any kind of religious order. But she is tortured and no one says it a gross violation of human rights. Is she not to be given the protection that every woman is entitled to?

Those who write against the nation, insult our heritage and support secession, get applauds and awards. But those who die for the nation and protect the civilisational flow are tortured in police custody.

That's the brevity and power of a state that's in reality headed by a woman and is being actually run by another.

More than 60,000 Hindus have been killed by Islamic jihadis, in the name of their religion and not a single Hindu stood up to say: Enough is enough, I will now see the wicked are punished and innocents are protected.

There is a list of more than 200 Hindu temples razed or desecrated in the Kashmir valley. No Hindu Kashmiri vowed to establish a Hindu terror group to take revenge because the state apparatus has failed to provide them safety.

Seema, a six-year-old girl, was found lying unconscious in a pool of blood in Doda when Islamic terrorists came to her house in the thick of night at 2.30 am, woke up her father, mother and her 11-year-old brother, killing them after brutal torture. They used big knives to cut them into pieces.

Still no Hindu terror group was formed to teach them a lesson.

A two-and-a-half-year old boy who was crying for milk as his mother was shot dead by Islamic terrorists in Wandhama attracted the attention of the jihadis and the bullets silenced him too.

Even then, Hindus didn't become terrorists.

The great socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia use to say – India has three dreams – Ram, Krishna and Shiva. The abodes, the principal temples of the global Hindus dedicated to these three dreams of India were destroyed and desecrated by Islamic invaders. Go to Google and see how the Shiva temple in Kashi has been turned into a mosque in such a style that the pillars of the old Hindu temple remain clearly visible to show Hindus that here was once the temple they used to worship, which has been converted into a mosque.

Yet for the last four centuries no Hindu has turned a terrorist to take revenge in Kashi.

Now when elections are underway, the government is in shambles showing utter unworthiness to govern and protect patriotic people. Suddenly every single person arrested for terrorism is a saffron, a Hindu and nothing is appearing on the channels or in Sunday magazine features except the "grave danger of Hindu terrorism" and the army getting the saffron "tilak" of terror.

Even the Ghaznis, Ghauris and Abdalis haven't done so much of character assassination of a majority community as this government has done just to garner a few Muslim votes.

Is it fair?

Will it not create a reaction among those who have been chanting mantras of global peace and fraternity and praying for the welfare of all, irrespective of faith or colour? Pushed to a corner, restricted from crying and blackholed like the Jews during the Nazi regime, will it not be a bit too naive to expect that Hindus will remain silent and offer their necks for the secular sacrificial ritual of election gains? Their temples are bombed, their children are killed, their property is looted, their orchards are burnt, their motherland is disfigured and assaulted, yet the state declares a war on their sensitivities, the media muffles their voice and bans all for a for them to express their views. On the contrary, it shows the victims as aggressors, humiliating them in the eyes of the real attackers.

Nature abhors such Siberian gags. Peace is strengthened by justice alone.

The way Pragya has suddenly become a hero must make sane people sit up and take note of the wave passing through the Hindu heartland. Tsunamis don't send advance emails before they strike.

Dec 25 bandh call justified, Samiti

Bhubaneswar:(Visakeo) Swami Laxmananda Saraswati Sradhanjali Samiti on Wednesday argued that the bandh call on December 25 was logical and justified if the State Government fails to nab the killers of Swamiji and his disciples by December 15.

Samiti’s while reacting to the visit of the three-member Central Ministerial team led by Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar to riot hit Kandhamal, however alleged that the team coming under pressure from church militants, has criticized the bandh call.

Both Central as well as the State Government has no morale right to oppose a bandh call on December 25, Samiti State coordinator Laxmikant Dash said. He further alleged that top church leaders and Congress President Sonia Gandhi are giving safe shelters to the killers of Swamiji.

The Crime Branch of State Police improved a lot in connection with the fake gang rape of a nun while the same officials have failed to the nab the killers of Swamiji even after four months of the incident, he added.

Govt must stop financial assistance for damaged churches, demands VHP

Govt must stop financial assistance for damaged churches, demands VHP

Bhubaneswar:(visakeo) Defiant Viswa Hindu Parishad on Monday asked Orissa Government to stop any kind of financial help for the reconstruction of churches and prayer houses in riot hit Kandhamal district.

The Government has no right to spend taxpayers' money to appease Christian Community and it should withdraw its announcement in this regard, VHP State general secretary Gouri Prasad Rath said. There is no provision for financial assistance to places of worship in the relief code, so the Government must reconsider its decision, he added.

The Supreme Court had never directed the State Government for financial assistance. It had only asked the Government to look into the issue in a humanitarian manner but the Government seems mistaken over the Court order, he argued.

He further pointed out that as Church, training centers for pastors and Nun are patronizing conversion activities; the Government must stop financial assistance to restore communal harmony in Kandhamal.

Orissa became first State in the country, which offered such type of financial help for reconstruction of religious institutions damaged during communal violence.

Churches, prayer houses, temples, mosques, gurudwaras, boudh vihars, jain temples and prayer halls of tribals and training institutions for nuns and pastors would get financial help as per the official announcement of the Orissa Government.

According to the order issued by the Revenue Department, places of worship and religious institutions built on disputed land would not be eligible for getting the assistance, which will vary from Rs 10,000 to Rs two lakh.

Rs 2 lakh each would be provided for churches and temples destroyed during riots in Kandhamal, while partially damaged places of worship would be given Rs 1 lakh each.

Similarly, Rs 50,000 each would be given for completely destroyed prayer halls, while those with moderate damage would be given Rs 20,000 each and partially damaged prayer halls would get Rs 10,000 each.

Orissa HC dismisses plea of Utkal Christian Council

Bhubaneswar:(visakeo)17/11- Orissa High Court on Monday rejected a petition of Utkal Christian Council that sought to change judge heading the one-man judicial panel to probe communal violence in Kandhamal district.

The division bench comprising chief Justice Balbir Singh Chauhan and justice BN Mohapatra dismissed the petition filed by the Council Nov 7.

Orissa Government appointed SC Mohapatra, a retired judge of the Orissa High Court September 2 to the one-man judicial commission that will probe the killing of a Hindu leader Aug 23 and the communal violence that followed.

The council, represented through its secretary Jyotsna Rani Patro, filed a writ application in the Orissa High court describing the appointment of Mohapatra as illegal.

The council in its petition had said that 'Mohapatra, a former Lok Pal (vigilance body member), cannot be appointed to head the commission because he is not eligible as per law. 'As per section 5 of the Lokpal Act, on ceasing to hold office the Lokpal or Lokayukta shall be ineligible for further employment under the state government,' the council had said.

"The court dismissed the plea. The court said that the commission of inquiry is not a government service so as to come within the purview of the word 'employment' and upheld the appointment,"

Politics of 'Hindu terror'

The cutting Ed: Chandan Mitra

Ab Tak Chhappan! The title of this Ram Gopal Varma film easily comes to mind observing the manner in which the Maharashtra ATS is going about picking up people all over India and slapping them into the cooler on a daily basis, ostensibly in a bid to unearth dimensions of "Hindu terror".

We have lost count of the number of persons interrogated, sent on police or judicial remand, their brains penetrated with narcotic substances to induce confession to their "crimes". But not a day has passed, since Sadhvi Pragya was nabbed some 25 days ago, without somebody or the other being arrested, allegedly in connection with a fantastic plot conjured up by the Maharashtra Police.

Those arrested included serving and retired Army officers, school and college teachers, political activists and now even a resourceful sadhu. Every evening at the news meeting in our office, the first question asked is, "What's the score today? Ab tak ...?"

Buoyed by enthusiastic endorsement from the "secular" media, which is gleefully eating out of the ATS' hands, the so-called Hindu terror plot keeps assuming an ever-growing magnitude. Not content with pinning the blame for the minor bomb blasts in Malegaon and Modasa, then Nanded and later Kanpur, the ATS' ambitions have increased manifold. Currently, it is busy trying to implicate the same group in the 2006 Samjhauta Express blasts. Curiously, SIMI commander Safdar Nagori's narco tests have resulted in a confession that his organisation executed the Samjhauta bombings. Does this mean that so-called Hindu terrorists have been synchronising their moves with SIMI? Or, maybe ATS will tomorrow come up with a theory that "Hindu terrorists" have been funding and masterminding the actions of jihadis who innocently fell into the Hindu trap in the lure of money. Far fetched? Not really, if you consider the gigantic yarns being spun around the purported confessions of the detained suspects.

Interestingly, in the last seven days, contradictory "leaks" have been planted on the handpicked media about the responses of detained suspects. A particularly hilarious story front-paged by a leading national daily claimed that the narco-analysis of Sadhvi Pragya came to a naught because she meditates daily! Apparently, those who are ardent practitioners of that spiritual art become immune to narco tests because their mental powers are strong enough to resist drug-induced coercion aimed at extracting confessions.

Moral of the story: All criminals ought to mediate, for then narco-tests shall fail and they go scot-free!

By the way, it would be interesting to know if the servants arrested in the Arushi Talwar murder case were also trained in the art of meditation. Must be, for the CBI failed to get any information out of them and finally they had to be released. Similarly, Lt Col. Srikant Purohit, too, foiled the investigators' desperate attempts to cajole him into confessing his crime because, we are told, as an Armyman, he was trained to absorb stress and no amount of drugs got him to talk. Halted on their tracks, the ATS then leaked purported details of Purohit's confessions, which were eagerly lapped up by sections of the media to further their campaign to equate "Hindu" with jihadi terror.

Following the arrest of Swami Amritanand aka Dayanand Pandey or Sudhakar Dwivedi, we were treated to details of his past, website photos, his ashrams, connections with top national personalities, ex-President APJ Abdul Kalam downwards. But what we never got to know was his role in the Malegaon blasts. Within hours of his arrest, the Haryana Railway Police swooped down on him apparently to discover his link to the Samjhauta Express blasts, which self-confessedly, SIMI had carried out. Without a shred of evidence to that effect, he has already been awarded the epithet of "Terror Guru".

In the same way, the highly respected Bhonsala Military School has been dubbed a terror factory - a term used hitherto for Talibanised madrasas. Merely because some members of a little known outfit called Abhinav Bharat, an adjunct of the largely defunct Hindu Mahasabha, visited the premises of the school, its custodians were hounded to the point of putting in their papers.

Judging by the hype accompanying the "Hindu terror" revelations, it would appear that nothing else is happening in this country for the last month or so. With every passing day, the ATS' concoctions get more incredible, the scale of "leaked" stories magnified and the media's tone becomes predictably shriller. All this before any of the arrested persons is formally charged or given an opportunity to defend themselves. Wasn't it the Congress that kept cautioning us against trial by media? Wasn't it Manmohan Singh who plaintively lamented that everything in this country gets politicised? But when a trial by the media is actually sponsored by the Government and agencies under its control, like the Maharashtra ATS, nobody sees anything wrong with it.

That, in the process, even the Army is being hauled over the coals and its exalted status sullied beyond repair is of no consequence. Clearly, the Government thinks tarnishing the Army serves its short-term agenda: Putting BJP on the backfoot. Nothing is too sacrosanct to achieve that aim in an election year. In the face of mounting public anger against the UPA's all-round failure, especially its vote-bank politics over terrorism, the Government desperately needed a face-saver. So, they decided to construct an elaborate theory of all-pervasive Hindu terror hoping to convince the electorate that the Hindutva forces are the real fountainhead of all terrorist activities. It is a matter of time before it is volubly argued by "secular" politicians and their media cheerleaders that jihadi terror is nothing but an act of self-defence in the face of rampant "Hindu terrorist" provocation.

With investigating agencies dragging their feet (could it be under orders from above?), failing to convict any terror accused so far, this is a clever ploy to divert attention from the real danger jihadi terror poses to India. Determined to thwart efforts by BJP-ruled States to introduce tough anti-terror laws, the Government has directed the President to return Narendra Modi's proposed GUJCOC, drafted on the lines of MCOCA, which is operational in UPA-ruled Maharashtra. And the Centre is equally determined not to execute Afzal Guru despite the Supreme Court sentencing him to death several years back. Incidentally, Muslim-majority Indonesia has fewer qualms: It executed three Islamic radicals last week, soon after they were convicted for the Bali bombings.

But our Government is focused on damning Hindu organisations by a sustained campaign of calumny. I wonder if the Maharashtra ATS will soon "unearth" global linkages of Hindu terror and accuse some sadhvi, swami or an Army officer of having plotted 9/11 too!

What the Congress-led Government is failing to recognise is that public anger against a regime increasingly seen as decidedly anti-Hindu, is rising. In the process, the Congress may actually be helping to create a Hindu vote for the first time in India's history. Pyromaniacs often end up being consumed by the very fire they light.

Who’s the new Mogambo?

By Swapan Dasgupta

There are seasons when the media’s perception of national priorities bear little relation to the average middle-class (I cannot presume to speak for the much-invoked aam aadmi) concerns. My own impression is that there is one overriding preoccupation: The economic downturn and the threat of recession. The insecurity fuelled by jihadi terror comes second.

The media perception is markedly different. Its main focus is on the Mumbai ATS’ sensational unearthing of a “Hindu terror” conspiracy. The Delhi edition of The Times of India on Saturday, for example, had 10 reports on the subject and another three on the miscarriage of justice in cases involving alleged jihadi terrorists.

To be fair to the media, the emerging story is riveting. To begin with there was the arrest of Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, the owner of a motorcycle which was used to plant bombs in Malegaon on September 29. The dashing sadhvi was believed to be the “mastermind”. The plot then came to embrace the Army and led to the arrest of Lt-Colonel Shrikant Purohit of the Military Intelligence. The shock of a serving Army officer being the real “mastermind” of the terror plot was profound. But even before this was fully digested, came the further revelation that a self-anointed shankaracharya Dayanand Pandey, alias Sudhakar Dwivedi, with a penchant for changing mobile phone numbers was the real divine inspiration behind Purohit. In other words, he was this week’s Mogambo. There is a suspicion that next week’s “mastermind” may well turn out to be the person who was all along the intended target — a senior RSS functionary whose responsibilities included J&K.
If all goes according to plan, this is a story that will run till the last round of voting for the Lok Sabha election. It is not merely the colourful conspirators that are of interest. Equally enthralling is the plot that the ATS has supposedly unearthed through extensive drugging and narco-analysis.

It would seem that a group of extreme Hindu nationalists, exasperated by the Government’s failure to control jihadi terror decided that the Muslims must get a taste of their own medicine. The inspirational shankaracharya supposedly requisitioned the services of the like-minded Purohit who he had got to know during his own missions in J&K. Using the Military Intelligence network and, may be, funds, he contacted jihadi groups to persuade them to engage in friendly fire, i.e. bomb their own community. This filmi plot did not succeed and Purohit had to settle for buying RDX from the “enemy”. With the assistance of a retired Territorial Army officer, a collector of antique arms and, of course, Pragya’s bike, the group killed six innocent Muslims in Malegaon.

The ATS now believes the group could have also triggered earlier blasts in Nanded, Kanpur, the first Malegaon blasts in 2006 and even the Samjhauta Express bombing. The net is being cast far and wide. The official spokesman of the Congress has even gone to the extent of suggesting that even the other bombings were outsourced by the RSS to the SIMI and Indian Mujahideen! It would also not be surprising if in the coming weeks some bright secular spark or ridiculous tabloid comes to the startling conclusion that the D-company is actually a covert RSS cell.

Before there is a formal request to the Obama Administration to reopen the 9/11 inquiries in the light of the Mumbai ATS unofficial disclosures to the media, it is pertinent to note a few features of the Hindu terrorist case. First, in its submission to the courts, the Mumbai ATS has pointed to 18 traces of RDX in Malegaon. Yet, it is curious that the Central forensic teams that were despatched to the spot immediately found no RDX. Obviously, both can’t be right.

Second, is it the normal custom of authorities to arrest anyone who has been remotely associated or had telephone links with the accused, subject them to narco-tests casually and then rush to the media? When nothing incriminating is unearthed, it is attributed to yogic skills. In most countries narco-tests are sparingly used to fill in missing links (usually the search for the murder weapon) after the bulk of the investigations are complete. In this investigation, it has become the first act of an otherwise clueless ATS.
Second, in its internal inquiry submitted to the Defence Ministry submitted some 10 days ago, the Army ruled out the involvement of any other officers. It has also refrained from dismissing Purohit from service — a revealing piece of non-action.

The implications of what the ATS has leaked to the media about the role of the Army are horrifying. It suggests that senior MI operatives have no wider accountability and are routinely engaged in clandestine activities with known jihadis. If Purohit had the ability to mount operations without instructions and without the knowledge of his superior officers, it suggests that the emergence of a rogue force like Pakistan’s ISI cannot be entirely discounted in India. Does the ATS and its political mentors in the UPA have any idea of what they are casually implying? Are the media stenographers who are faithfully reproducing every unattributable briefing aware of the long-term costs of trying to establish a moral equivalence between jihadi terror and Hindu terror?

Beleaguered Governments have made a habit of trying to bolster their electoral prospects through dirty tricks. In 1989, there was the elaborate attempt to discredit V P Singh through the discovery of fictitious accounts in St Kitts. Both the agencies and senior journalists were part of the plot. In 1996, there was the Jain hawala case which neither secured convictions nor won the Congress the election. Let us see how far the invocation of Hindu terror takes those who can’t bear the idea of being out of power. Meanwhile, the jihadis are sitting pretty, plotting their next move.

Vatican owes us an apology
by Kanchan Gupta

His Majesty the king has ordered that there shall be no Brahmins in his land and that they should be banished.”
“In the name of his Majesty I order that no Hindu can or shall perform marriages…”
“The marriages of the supplicants are superstitious acts or functions which include Hindu rites and ceremonies as well as cult, adoration and prayers of Hindu temples…”
“I order that no Hindu temples be erected in any of the territories of my king… and that Hindu temples which already have been erected be not repaired…'

Anybody familiar with the brutalisation of Hindu customs and practices, indeed Hindu faith and belief, could mistakenly believe these extracts have been taken from royal decrees issued during Muslim rule. The harshness with which suppression is prescribed in these decrees, the callous disregard that is advocated for the other’s sentiment, the cruelty that is so palpable in both thought and action, suggest that these firman could have been issued by one of the “shadows of god” who ruled this land, laying to waste Hindu lives and temples.

But these are not extracts from firman issued by the Mughal court of, say, Aurangzeb. They have been taken from firmans issued by the Portuguese who ruled Goa and recognised no religion other than Christianity as the legitimate means of communion with god. It was no secular rule that they imposed, but a ruthless system of pillage disguised as trade and a cruel administration for whom Hindus were nothing more than “supplicants” to be crushed into submission or exiled into oblivion.

The horrors inflicted on Galileo Galilei by the Inquisition — the Vatican has now admitted that the Church was wrong and Galileo was right — are well known. Not that well-known, and tragically so, are the horrors inflicted by the Goa Inquisition. Every child reads about Galileo’s trial and how it is symbolic of the triumph of science over faith. But there is no reference — indeed, all reference is scrupulously avoided — to the brutal attempts of the Church to stamp out Hinduism in the territories controlled by the Portuguese in India.

And this silence is not because there exists no evidence: There exist, in full text, orders issued by the Portuguese Viceroy and the Governor. There exist, in written records and travelogues, penned not by the persecuted but by the persecutors, full details of the horrors perpetrated in the name of Christ. Hindus who dared oppose the persecution were punished, swiftly and mercilessly. Those who were fortunate, got away with being banished. The less fortunate had their property seized and auctioned — the money was used, in large measures, for furthering proselytisation. The least fortunate were forced to serve as slave labour on the galleys that transported loot from Indian shores to Portuguese coffers.

Viceroy D Constantine de Braganca issued an order on April 2, 1560, instructing that Brahmins should be thrown out of Goa and other areas under Portuguese control. They had a month's time to sell their property — it is obvious who gained from such distress sale. Those found violating the viceregal order, it was declared, would have their properties seized. Another order was issued, this time by Governor Antonio Morez Barreto, on February 7, 1575, decreeing that the estates of Brahmins whose "presence was prejudicial to Christianity" would be confiscated and used for "providing clothes to the New Christians".

The attitude of the Portuguese administrators in India and the Church hardened over the years, to a point where each fiat, each decree, each order, each letter, became an instrument of religious persecution. The Third Concilio Provincial — a gathering of bishops and other clerics — met in 1585 to review, among other things, the progress of converting the “heathens” to the “only faith”. The Concilio adopted a resolution which said, ‘His Majesty the king has on occasion ordered the Viceroys and Governors of India that there should be no Brahmins in his lands, and that they should be banished therefrom together with the physicians and other infidels who are prejudicial to Christianity, after taking the opinion of the Archbishop and other religious persons who have experience in the matter. As the orders of His Majesty in this regard have not been executed, great impediments in the way of conversion and the community of New Christians have followed and continue to follow.”

One can quote from many other orders, resolutions and instructions that resulted in the hideous Vatican-backed Goa Inquisition. The details are not unknown to most of us; they are definitely well known to the Vatican. The reason I have raised the issue of the Goa Inquisition is two-fold. First, Pope Benedict XVI should bear in mind the horrors inflicted on Hindus in the name of Christianity before he berates them for being intolerant towards Christians. Second, the Vatican owes an apology for the crimes committed during the Goa Inquisition; it must apologise and repent for its misdeeds against Hindus and gross attempts to stamp out Hinduism. Not to do so would amount to continued endorsement of the crimes and the unfair practices of missionaries.

Ten years ago, the Vatican issued a 14-page document, ‘apologising’ and ‘repenting’ for not doing enough to save Europe’s Jews from the Holocaust. While it is common knowledge that Pope Pius XII did not feel particularly appalled by Hitler’s ‘final solution’, the Vatican claimed in its 1998 document that he was unaware of the concentration camps, the mass slaughter, the gas chambers and the furnaces. The document, understandably, failed to impress Jews who have made it clear that Pope Benedict XVI is not welcome to visit Israel unless he offers an unqualified apology and makes public documents of that period which are now stored in the Vatican’s archives. The Vatican may have eliminated the phrase “perfidious Jews” from its liturgy and Pope Paul II may have made it fashionable for the Pontiff to refer to Jews as “older brothers”, these are seen as no more than meaningless, insincere gestures.

The purpose of securing an apology for the Goa Inquisition is not to belittle the Vatican, but to drive home the point that it cannot seek to occupy the moral high ground till such time it has apologised and atoned for the sins committed against Hindus. If the Vatican can say sorry to others, there is no reason why it cannot say sorry to Hindus. Their faith is no less than those of the Book.

Samiti warns Orissa Bandh on December 25, holds massive Sradhanjali Sabha

Bhubaneswar: (visakeo),16/11-Swami Laxmananda Saraswati Sradhanjali Samiti, which held a massive Sradhanjali Sabha here at PMG Square, warned for Orissa Bandh on December 25 if the State Government failed to arrest the killers and conspirators of the Hindu saint by December 15. The Samiti also demanded highest civilian award for the late Seer and asked the Government to stop arrest of innocent Kandh tribals. Speakers paid homage to late Swami Laxmananda Saraswati and vowed to fight against conversion and cow slaughtering.

It may be noted here that Swamiji and his four followers who were killed by unidentified attackers Aug 23 in an ashram in Orissa's Kandhamal district. The rally attended by seers from across the State and outside, was held with the permission of the State Government despite the Centre's warning against such gathering. Saffron flags were seen fluttering in many parts of the city as Hindu activists raised slogans against the government for failing to arrest the people involved in the brutal murder.

Speakers, who addressed the huge gathering, also alleged that the Orissa Chief Minister is working under pressure from both church and the Congress led UPA Government at the Centre in dealing with the Kandhamal violence. "We will be forced to observe Orissa Bandh on December 25, if the government failed to arrest the killers and conspirators", said Swami Laxamananda Saraswati Sradhanjali Samiti president ratnakar Cahinee

Suspecting killing of Swamiji as part of an international conspiracy, the leaders wanted narco-test of Sonia Gandhi, archbishop Rapheal Cheenath and Rajya Sabha MP Nayak.

"We doubt that the three were conspirators in the Swami killing incidents", the VHP Marg Darsak Mandali member Ramvilas Vedanti Maharaj said adding that defaming and eliminating Hindu saints were part of the conspiracy hatched by Church along with Sonia Gandhi.

While demanding Bharat Ratna for the slain VHP leader Laxamananda, the Sangh Parivar also demanded release of innocent tribals who had been lodged in jails without sufficient evidence.

"We give one month time to Naveen Patnaik to arrest the killers. Otherwise, we will be forced to go for a bandh", said VHP state secretary Gouri Prasad Rath.

The rally, first of its kind in Orissa's state capital also witnessed active participation of the ruling BJP leaders and MLA where the chief minister and the government were condemned and held responsible for the Kandhamal violence.

They too strongly criticized the government for giving preferential treatment to the alleged rape victim nun who had no faith on the government as well as on the police.
"While hundreds of rape victims were denied justice in Orissa, why such royal treatment for a nun", asked Dr. Indulata Das, a member of the samiti and wife of a IAS officer.

"We have deployed 50 platoons of security forces including few companies of Central Reserve Police Force and Rapid Action Force. The Sradhanjali Sabha passes off peacefully with reports no untoward incident in the State Capital," Commissioner of Police BK Sharma said.

Sradhanjali Samiti to hold massive rally on Nov 15 in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar(Visakeo) Swami Laxmananda Saraswati Sradhanjali Samiti will hold a massive rally here at Lower PMG Square on November 15 in protest against the 'total failure' of the Orissa Government as well as the Crime Branch of Police in nabbing the real culprits behind Swamiji's killing.

Addressing a Press Conference here on Tuesday, Samiti president Dr Ratnakar Chaini alleged that the Orissa Government is adopting double standard in dealing with the Kandhamal crisis. "It seems, the Government is under pressure from both Church and UPA Government at Centre" he added.

Acting on an unsubstantiated allegation of a 29-year Old Catholic Nun, the Orissa Government made all out efforts to nab the rapists while the victim, even despite repeated court orders, the Nun is trying very hard to shift the matter outside Orissa.

The same Crime Branch, looking into the murder of Swamiji, yet to submit its charge sheet where as it progressed a lot in the Nun rape case. So, it's clear that the Orissa Chief Minister is under tremendous pressure, added Dr Chaini.

He further said that even after near two and half months of the brutal murder of Swamiji, Police completely failed to reach at the real culprits. "We demanded that unless and until, the real killers and conspirators nabbed, the Samiti would continue its agitation across the State," he said adding that the Samiti would strongly oppose any further conversion activities of the Church.

"We shocked, the manner in which, the police looking into the issue. IGP (Crime Branch) Arun Kumar Ray himself admitted that the real culprits and masterminds are staying outside Orissa after the brutal murder of the Hindu saint while few killers are hiding in any undisclosed location of Kandhamal's dense forest.

But, the police did not take any steps to locate the killers while it also not take steps to nab, those are staying outside Orissa," Dr Chaini alleged. "The verdict of Baliguda SDJM court rejecting the plea of the Nun seeking TIP of the accused outside Orissa, was historic, we wholeheartedly endorsed it," he added.

About five lakh angry Hindus from across the country would gather here in State Capital to protest minority appeasement initiatives of Orissa Chief Minister, who is false claming every bone of his body is secular.

The massive rally would also serve an ultimatum to the State Government asking it to nab the culprits behind Swamiji's killing. Is secularism means Church and Nun appeasement? . "If the killers will not be nabbed by November 15, we would plan for Orissa Bandh on December 25," he said. He further added that Hindus across the country have filed more than 15,000 FIRs in their respective districts.
Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram national president Jagdeo Ram Oram, RSS Central Committee senior member Indresh Kumar, Mahanta Dr Ramvilash Vedanti of Ram Janmabhoomi Movement, national president Viswa Hindu Parishad Y Raghavellu national coordinator of Hindu Jagaran Samukhya Harihar Nanda and all Hindu outfits would attend the rally. Immediate arrest of killers and conspirators of Swamiji and four of his disciples. The Crime Branch should conduct Narco Test of Congress Rajya Sabha member Radhakant Nayak, Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Archbishop Raphael Cheenath, National Integration Council member John Dayal to find out truth and find out the killers and conspirators. Provide adequate security to those Hindus, who have been targeted by Church sponsored militants. Immediately release of all innocent Kandhas , who were arrested basing on false and baseless cases. Ensure the protection of Kandhas, who are staying in jungles fearing Church terror The Orissa Government should not adopt double standard on Nun rape case and must ensure fair trail. Crime Branch probe should be time bound, Dr Chaini added. Dr Indulata Das was also present in the press meet.

Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati Shrdhanjali Samiti declares for mass rally soon

Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati Shrdhanjali Samiti declares for mass rally soon

Bhubaneswar, 09/11/08 (VISAKEO): Swami Laxmanananda Shradhanjali Samiti has declared for the grand mass rally in the State capital on coming 15th of this month on the ground of not arresting the real culprits and the conspirators of Swamiji’s slain who was gunned down by the Christian people on the past 23rd of August. Demanding to punish the real conspirator of the holy leader’s murder in Kandhamal district the Samiti said it has been more than two months still the main masterminds are moving freely and the alleged gang rape of the Nun that is now the regional, national and international media and the government is making it more newsworthy rather than the murder of Swamiji, is proved as false by the Regional Forensic Laboratory and no scoop and material is found on her cloth and against such false allegation she should be arrested who made Orissa lowered down after Swamiji’s slain.

As everyone and the evidence and proofs know the fact are sufficient to arrest and punish those masterminds but the government’s disinterest on arresting the killers is disturbing the common people in the rural and urban belts of the State, stated the rally coordinator Dr. Ratnakar Chaini. He also stated that the government is focusing on the Nun’s false allegation that she was victim of the gang rape after the slain of Swamiji and making it issue though she was proved as wrong not giving importance on the real victim in the conversion process by the Christian missionaries instead. Condemning the administration he said that it is in fact the serious matter that the innocent Hindu people and women are tortured in the name of security. As per the statement of the police IG Arun Kumar Ray a “particular community” had hired some local Maoists to kill Swamiji, stressing on his statement “particular community”, Dr. Chaini said that everyone is clear about that particular community and the center assistance to the State government providing police force have failed to find out those Maoists who were being bribed to end the mission. In spite of arresting them the police are found with the killers, which is a matter of shame on our administration and the government. Consequently again a Hindu man Dhanu Pradhani was shot dead in the broad day light in Brahmonigaon. To remind to government regarding the mass demand Swami Laxmanananda Shradhanjali Samiti has decided to stand firm in front the government in form of staging mass dharna in the State capital. An all India chairman of Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram Sri Jagadev Ram Oram, union member of RSS Indresh Kumar, Mahant Dr. Ram Bilash Vedant, Saint Ritambhara, an all India chief of Hindu Jagaran Samukhya Harihar Nanda and the union and state level members of the Samiti will join along with the proposed more than 15 lakh people and will address the rally, he added.

It is an international conspiracy to slam Orissa: The Writer’s Forum

Bhubaneswar, 09/11/08 (VISAKEO): Condemning the Kandhamal violence after the slain of the spiritual leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, The Writer’s Forum of the State has stated that Orissa is the chief target by the international force in the matter of religion conversion. As this is the only State that puts question on forcible religion conversion by the Christian missionaries through entices by the help of churches and preaching the false ideas for the sake of their religion promotion to the poor and neglected castes of Hindus. In the state level seminar on “Kandhamal and Agitated Orissa” organized by The Writer’s Forum of Viswa sambad Kendra Orissa many professionals and statesmen have opined that an Orissa has been the victim of an international conspiracy to damage its image and reputation at the door of the Universe in the matter of kandhamal violence.

The Writer’s Forum stated that an existing social caste system is the main reason for the religion conversion. Against the religion conversion the tribal community Kandh have been agitated since 1853. The Christian Missionaries by the direction of the international churches and its policies were engaged in converting the scheduled castes of the Hindu community and motivated them to fight against the tribal groups. And Kandhamal violence is an outcome of that agitation and protest by the two groups: the scheduled castes and the scheduled tribes after the slain of Swamiji. But the media and the government coloured it as the communal violence and arrested lots of innocent Hindus and tortured them by bringing an allegation of Nun’s gang rape. Attending as the chief guest an eminent writer and the an all India organizing secretary of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh briefed the history of the religion conversion by the Christian missionaries, the motto of the Matth and spiritual leaders in the rural belts and the real story of Swamiji’s contribution to the society and his heinous murder in the seminar. He said how Swamiji had dedicated his life living in a remote area in the favour of Hindu community by protesting an action of cow slaughter, taking wine and liquors, and uniting the divided Hindu community, the women power by preaching and teaching holy books and eternal ideas to the poor and illiterate people in the tribal area, and as a result he was gunned down by the Christian people who had stood up on their way to religion conversion. He said, the real tribute and homage should be when his ideas will be accepted and his purpose will be disseminated throughout the Indians. Condemning the terrorism he said that the most wanted terrorist Osama Bin Laden and the Pope are the two sides of a coin whose principles are same and mottos are clear that to spread their irrational ideas by hook or crook. An eminent writer cum lecturer Niranjan Padhi in his opinion said that the government and the world are beholding the Kandhamal violence in a different angle not considering as a national crisis. Writer Dr. Umesh Patri participating in the seminar said that the slain of Swamiji is a national shame if his personality be analysed properly. Not arrsesting the real culprtits of his slain, the government and its administration is providing them to kill another saint and leader who are working for the motherland and society. The vice chairperson of Utkal Sammilani Subash chandra Das, Scientist Sarat Chandra Panda, Poet Harekrishna Dhupapala Sharma, Usharani Mohanty, Lalit Mohan Pattnaik, Bijoy Kumar Singh, Bipin Bihari Tripathy, Writer Abhay Singh, and Trilochan Panda had made the Christian missionaries and the churches responsible for the national disintegration in the name of their services. They appealed to the citizens of India to stand against their “dividing and rule” principles and to see the fact. In this seminar the state coordinator of Rastriya Swabhiman Andolon Orissa Saumendra Jena had addressed the seminar and the joint secretary of Viswa Sambad Kendra Orissa Srimant Samantray had offered word of thanks. Around 72 writers and columnists were present in the seminar. Seminar held at Orissa Bhavan under the chairmanship of Bhagirathi Mahasuar, Sri Niranjan Padhi had opened a book on the real face of the churches in Orissa “Orissa under the conspiracy of church” written by Mohini Mohan Mishra and Saumendra Jena.

RSS refuses the media claim on burning of effigies

Bhubaneswar, 09/11/08 (VISAKEO): The RSS has refused not involved in the burning of the Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his cabinet minister Vishwabhushan Harichandan’s effigies. The Sangh Parivar has condemned such claim by one of the regional media reported on the past 7th of this month.

Opposing to the media report the RSS Prachar Pramukh of the State Sri Simanchal Khatuasaid that burning effigies is not an ethics of the Sangh Parivar. “We never used to burn anyone’s effigy on the public road nor damage anyone’s image, this not a part of our principle”. Some one might have conspired to lower down an image of the Sangh Parivar by doing such action who is in oppose to its principle and policies, he said in a press meet. It is alleged that a man belonging to the Sangh on his return from its branch office had burnt down the effigies of the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and cabinet minister Sri Harichandan who has held the department of the industries of the State and sent the pictures to the media. On behalf of the Parivar Sri Khatua has condemned such action and refused the media report and cleared out that as usual again Sangh is under the conspiracy and its opposition force’s target to be blamed in front of the public.

Press Release by Hindu Jagaran Sammukhya on

Bhubaneswar, Dated 6, Nov. 2008.
“One Dhanu Pradhani (35 years) was killed on 5/11/2008 (Wednesday) in Jhinjiriguda village under Brahmanigaon P.S. while working in Kumbharigaon School by three militant Christians belonging to the same area. The incident occurred at about 12.30 p.m. in the afternoon while other co-workers had gone for mid-day food and Dhanu Pradhani, a mason by profession was about to leave for the same purpose. The three persons were assisted by two of the teachers Prasant Uthar Singh and Susanta Nayak in locating and identifying the victim. It may be recalled that within days of killing of Swamiji and others, there were wall posters targeting Dhanu Pradhani, Vikram, Arun Karji and Chitrasen displayed in Jhanjiriguda area. On the 31st October 2008 when peace committee meeting was held at the Brahmanigaon P.S. there was none from among the local Christians. Later, on enquiry Thomas Nayak, Subash Nayak, Kailash Nayak and Vikram Basturoy of Brahmanigaon area told that ‘first they would eliminate the four aforesaid Kandh youth, and then only they might sit down to talk about peace’.
Dhanu’s murder is predetermined and brutal. The killers pumped in to 12 bullets from small arms in close range. Dhanu could not escape as there was a minor boy alongwith who had come to accompany him to the place of lunch. This daring act in broad day light under gaze of eye-witnesses indicates a direct challenge to the State Police who have failed to nab the local killers of Swamiji who according to the investigation numbered 18 in total. Only three from among them are shown arrested, till date. Many of the remaining 15 are loitering around freely with impunity. The Kandhs were assisting in the state sponsored peace efforts for restoration of normalcy. But the militant Christians again by such acts are inviting trouble to themselves. The Chief Minister has been very partisan in using the coercive armed police (CRPF, OSAP etc.) against the local Kandhs of whom so many innocents in hundreds are hospitalized and an equal number languishing behind the bar, including women and minors. On the other hand, militant Christians with illegally procured firearms who are behind the murders of Swamiji and there after, are moving freely with impunity. Peace is two way traffic. Naveen Babu, holding the Police portfolio in the cabinet will remain squarely responsible for the repercussions that will ensue after such blatantly partisan and highly discriminatory handling of the situation as if he is bound by a vow to protect the Christians at the cost of the Kandhs. The killers are moving under CRPF protection. Kandhs will never lie low in protecting their dignity. They are fighting their battle for cultural existence and they have full support of other sects of Hindus whole over the country.”

Vnavasi Kalyan Ashram demands the safety for the Hindu community

Bhubaneswar, 06/11/08 (VISAKEO): The murder of a Hindu man in Brahmoni Gaon has arised the tension among the Hindu people in Kandhamal district. The real conspirator of the VHP leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati who was brutally gunned down by the Maoist militants who were hired by the Christian people, were moving freely though all the evidence and proofs are there against them. After that incident, again Hindu man, was allegedly belongs to RSS, who was a daily wager, now victim of the Christian conspiracy to gear up the conversion of religion in the State. The administration is blind and like Swami’s case it tries to paste it on the Maoists. Regarding the violence spread in Kandhamal and the tragedy of the Hindu people the State Secretary of Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram Lasmikant Dash has condemned the State administration and the chief minister of Orissa who happens to be the supporter of the Christians in disguise. He has demanded to give the protection and safety to the Hindu Community who is the minor in Kandhamal district.

Lots of things are there that indeed the State administration and the Chief Minister to be blamed and questioned for its irresponsibility right from the murder attempt on the most lovable VHP leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, to his slain, to the attack on the innocent Hindu tribals and the illegal arrest of the Hindu people, and now the victim Dhanu Pradhan who was gunned down by the Christian militants at the broad day light on Wednesday. Sri Dash stated that till now the real conspirators of Swamiji are not arrested, the suspected Christians from whom the weapons were found and few NGOs like SFDC, Ama Gaon, and World Vision who are involved in the attack on the police stations have been ignored by the state administration. Various cases that have been lodged against the Christian people in setting fire the tribal people’s homes and forcible religion conversion are pressed down. The Christian attack victims Dasharath Pradhan Raghav Digal and Binod Digal of Raikia police station, Gayadhar Digal of Phiringia police station, Sanyasi Majhi of Tumudibandha police station and the Manoj Pradhan of Raikia police station who was seriously injured by the Christian attack after the slain of Swamiji are in fact the matter of condemnation. Besides the recent murder that has been plotted in Brahmoni Gaon and the improper treatment of that corpse after the post mortem clears the disinterest of the administration and the sympathy towards the majority Christians, he said. On behalf the Organisation he announced to forward the memorandum to the Prime Minister and the President of India by staging mass dharna in all the distict headquarters of the country and on behalf of Swami Laxmanananda Shradhanjali Samiti lakh of people will be assembled at PMG square in the State capital, he said.

Sri Dash has demanded the state government and the chief minister to compensate the victim Dhanu Pradhan with amount 10 lakhs, to arrest the killer and the conspirators and to provide proper safety and protection to the Hindu people in Brhamoni Gaon at a press conference in the State capital. Swami Pranarupananda Saraswati, the state advisor of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati; Padmanabh Pradhan, the president of Kui Samaj were present in the conference.

Again violence strikes Kandhamal

Christians gun down one Hindu

Bhubaneswar, 06/11/08 (VISAKEO): Violence and agitation has stroke the Kandhamal district once again after killing of one Hindu man near Kumbahri Gaon square of Brahmoni Gaon plice station area in Daringbadi block. The victim is allegedly gunned down by the Christian community in the broad day light heinously belonged to the RSS who was said to be threatened by the Christian militants few days ago. After the slain of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati tension has been fired again in the minds of the Hindu community and the administration seems to colour the incident as an action of Maoists.

Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh backed Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram on Wednesday alleged that Christian militants have killed one 40-year-old Dhanu Pradhan of Kumbahrigaon. Sense feeling never generates spiritual knowledge

Science dejects Christian philosophy
Bhubaneswar, 03/11/08 (VISAKEO): Science dejects the very ideas of the Christianity regarding the sense experience and the absolute knowledge that the sense experience never arises any kind of complete knowledge. In the suit filed at Bhubaneswar civil judge junior division court the petitioner Sri Bhairab Charan Padhy claims that Saint Thomas Aquinas’s saying “all knowledge originates in sensation but sense data can be made intelligible only by the action of the intellect…” is wrong and false, due to the fact that sense recognizes already sense known matter therefore, no knowledge is derived from senses. More over, there is no such action or reaction in the human body to convert sense data into knowledge. In fact, human body is congruent with matter. Hence no action or reaction of a different nature is possible in human body.

In a press meet at the State capital today, Sri Padhy, a postgraduate degree in physics from IIT Mumbai has shown Saint Aquinas’s thought is wrong and false. Sri Padhy in his book “Solution to Global Warming and Nuclear Bomb” has stated the above regarding this matter he has filed a petition in the court. The defended being Archdiocese of Orissa represented through Archbishop of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. He has prayed to the court to direct Christian priest not to propagate Aquinas’s aforesaid false ideas. Around 400 A.D. Saint Augustine had said that to search for truth people should depend upon sense experiences. Around 1200-1300 Islamic philosopher Averoees in Europe propagated A.D. Aristotle’s philosophy. This threatened supremacy and integrity of Roman Catholic Church’s doctrine. In this situation, to reconcile Augustine’s teaching with Aristotle’s philosophy Saint Aquinas’s had held that sense experience by the action of intellect is converted into knowledge. Referring to the Hindu mythology in Ramayana, Sri Padhy illustrated that while Shravan Kumar was filling water in the evening, from a distance King Dasharath by hearing the sound concluded that some deer is drinking water and applied arrows in that direction, but the arrows pierced Shravan Kumar. Hearing the sound in the ear King Dasharath could not know the origin of the sound. This means hearing organ experience is not converted into knowledge. In general to know the origin of the sound is called knowledge. If in a room some music instrument like tape recorder, TV, Radio are kept and one instrument is put on, and if it is asked to a person listening to the music in the next room he can not say from which instrument the music is coming. Hearing sense experience does not know the origin of the sound. Therefore, sense experience knows already sense known matter. Hence, sense experience is not converted into knowledge. Also, in natural sciences systematic study of matter is undertaken by searching, examining, testing, verifying it by senses such as hearing, sight, smell, taste and touch and sense aiding equipments could only find already sense known matter. More over science could find already sense- known- matter; it could find no new knowledge. Therefore, science-searching matter by human senses invented mass destruction nuclear bomb. In view of the above it is said here that experienced due to sense input data by action or reaction is not converted into knowledge. But, if sense experiences are taken as complete knowledge, there is a possibility that we will face danger. At present, through science, the mass destruction weapons produced in the field of science has put humanity in danger. This proves that propagation of Aquinas’s philosophy that is false, by Roman Catholic Church is misleading. Advocate Sri Anil Kumar Sathapathy was also present in this press meet.

Do Nuns Die Virgins!!?

By Mavis Makuni
Financial Gazette

The Roman Catholic Church has suffered adverse publicity worldwide over the last few years after sordid tales of sexual abuse perpetrated by priests and bishops were unearthed in the United States and other countries. In March 2002, the international news magazine Newsweek published a report under the headline, "Sins of the Fathers" which detailed how priests and bishops in different dioceses of the Catholic Church in the US had molested young boys and girls for about 50 years.

They had got away with these offences for so long because of an intricate cover-up strategy adopted by the church. This involved transferring culprits to dioceses where they were not well-known after complaints or whispers about their immoral and illegal behaviour.

The scandal was shocking in that the Catholic Church, which has one billion adherents worldwide, stood accused alongside secular organisations of covering up rape, child molestation and paedophilia.

The church’s hypocrisy in pretending that priests and nuns adhered to their vows of celibacy when the widespread abuses exposed in press reports showed otherwise raised many questions.

One was why the church stuck to this doctrine if it was too difficult for some clerics to adhere to it.

The lifestyles of nuns and priests have always fascinated lay-people who have wondered whether it is humanly possible for mere mortals to overcome fleshly desires and stick to their vows of poverty and celibacy all their lives.

There have always been whispers about the sexual escapades of priests and nuns even here in Zimbabwe but these are always difficult to ascertain because of the aura of secrecy surrounding religious orders.

But lo and behold, the secret is out and it’s official. The headquarters of the Catholic Church, the Vatican, has conceded that not all is well.

A number of reports have confirmed that thousands of nuns worldwide cannot keep their vows of chastity because they are raped or coerced into having sex by priests or bishops.

"The Holy See is dealing with the question in collaboration with the bishops, and with the International Union of Superiors General", said Papal spokesperson Joaquin. Navaro - Vallis.

Navaro - vallis, who was quoted in the National Catholic Reporter, added: "Certain negative situations cannot cause to be forgotten the frequently heroic fidelity of the great majority of male religious priests".

The Vatican statement was prompted by a report in the Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica about the scandal:

A number of reports written by senior members of women’s religious orders have also confirmed that the sexual abuse of nuns by priests is a serious and prevalent problem.

In the 1990s Sister Maura O’Donohue a medical doctor, briefed Cardinal Eduardo Matinerz, prefect of the Vatican Congregation for religious life on a report she had written while she was the AIDS co-ordinator for the Catholic Fund for Overseas Development based in London.

In her report, quoted in the Catholic National Reporter, O’Donohue said the sexual abuse of nuns by priests had been documented in 23 countries, including Zimbabwe. The rest are Botswana, Burundi, Brazil, Colombia, Ghana, India, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Tonga, Uganda, United States, Zambia and Zaire.

O’ Donohue said she initially reacted with "shock and disbelief" at the magnitude of the problem. "For example", she said, "a superior of a community of sisters in one country was approached by priests requesting that sisters be made available to them for sexual favours".

She said in some instances, some priests even advised sisters to take contraceptives, misleading them into believing that the pill prevented the transmission of HIV. Some Catholic medical professionals have complained of being pressured by priests to procure abortions for religious sisters impregnated by clerics.

In a similar report compiled in 1998, Sister Marie McDonald said that priests sometimes exploited the financial dependency of young sisters or took advantage of spiritual direction and the sacrament of reconciliation to extort sexual favours. She said some of the factors that gave rise to these sexual indiscretions include the fact that celibacy and chastity were not important values in some countries and because of the inferior position of women in society and the church sisters found it impossible to turn down clerics who ask for sexual favours because priests are authority figures who must be obeyed.

"Moreover, they are usually more highly educated and they have received a much more advanced theological formation that sisters," she said. The priests could also use false theological arguments to justify their behaviour, such as, "We are both consecrated celibates. That means we have promised not to marry. However, we can have sex together without breaking our vows".

In another report. O’Donohue noted that celibacy could have different meanings in different cultures. She cited the example of a vicar general in an African diocese who gave a different view of celibacy. "Celibacy in the African context means a priest does not get married but does not mean he does not have children"

According to the National Catholic Reporter, if a nun became pregnant she was the one who was asked to leave the congregation while the priest responsible could continue with his ministry.

In some cases, priests had relationships with several women, some of them the wives of church members.

"In such circumstances husbands are angry about what is happening but are embarrassed to challenge their parish priests".

Last year a newspaper in the U.S State of Missouri, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, published a report showing that 34,000 nuns had suffered sexual abuse.

Researchers at the university of St. Louis, who conducted the survey on which the report was based said, the sisters were sexually abused by priests or other nuns.

Last month, Associated Press reported on a lawsuit in which six plaintiffs in Louisville claimed that they were abused by Roman Catholic nuns while living in an orphanage in Anchorage in the 1905s and 1960s. This means that although O’Donohue and McDonald’s reports depict nuns as the victims of predatory priests and bishops, they themselves are not blameless.

O’Donohue said the AIDS pandemic had drawn attention to issues which may not have had much significance in the past. "The enormous challenge which AIDS poses for members of religious orders and the clergy is only now becoming evident"

Observers quoted in the Catholic National Reporter said in the wake of these embarrassing revelations, the Roman Catholic Church was taking steps to address the problem.

A Benedictine leader in Rome said, "Several monasteries already have guidelines in case a monk is accused of sexual misconduct, taking care of the individuals concerned, the victim included. We need sincerity and justice".

A Vatican official who spoke to the National Catholic Reporter anonymously said the culture in the Roman Catholic Church was changing. "The response from church leaders is more aggressive and swift and in general there is a climate within religious life that these things have to be discussed. Talking about it is the first step towards a solution".

In the context of the alleged rape of a Nun by a mob in India the underlying fear is that the medical report on the victim of the alleged crime reveals that she was in the habit of sexual intercourse which goes against the ethics of a woman who professes as a Nun in the Catholic Church of Mother Theresa. That apart, by her own admission before the Press in New Delhi she has contradicted herself by stating that there was attempt to rape by one person and as many persons entered the room, the perpetrator was dissuaded from committing the offence any further. But again the medical report reveals the presence of ‘sperm less semen’ in the interior of the vagina which is collected for forensic test. Despite the observations by the Supreme Court and its advise to the victim to co-operate with the investigation, Father Thomas Chellanthariar as well as the Nun have declined to testify before the Police saying that they do not trust the Orissa Police. The fact remains that the Father had given all the concoctions on advise from Archbishop Raphael Chinnath and filed two FIRs to the Balliguda P.S. It is now strongly suspected that Fr. Thomas Chellanthariar of Kerala is the person who used to and had recent coitus with her, which could be established by DNA test. Once it is matched, the false story spread whole over the world would stand shattered; but the tarnished image of India could hardly be repaired.

Bal Thackeray comes out in support of Malegaon blasts accused issue

PTI | Mumbai

Coming out in support of Sadhvi Pragya Thakur and other Malegaon blasts accused, Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray today lashed out at pro-Hindutva elements for "disowning" them and asked the legal community to come forward to defend the trio.

"The entire Hindu community should support the Sadhvi, retired Major Ramesh Upadhyay and Samir Kulkarni who are being framed by the ATS," Bal Thackeray said in his trademark fiery editorial in the Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana'.

Thackeray said he did not support any kind of terrorism that "weakens the country and we regret the loss of life in the Malegaon incident.

"But if the pseudo secularists in the country are supportive of Afzal Guru (Parliament attack convict), why should we not love and be proud of Sadhvi Pragya, Ramesh Upadhyay and Samir Kulkarni?" "Every day Islamic terrorists are planting bombs to kill Hindus in India. The latest blasts in Assam too were engineered by Bangladeshi migrants. If a Sadhvi Pragya or a Ramesh Upadhyay or a Samir Kulkarni is born in the present milieu, they cannot be blamed," it added.

Alleging that the ATS machinery was being used at the behest of the Congress which is practicing politics of Muslim appeasement, it said, "the arrests of cultured and educated individuals in connection with the Malegaon blasts is an effort to crush Hindus to please Muslim fanatics in the country."

Proselytization and Religious Freedom

“You are committing violence through conversion”.

Freedom to practice and preach one’s religion is fine. What is the responsibility associated with the freedom on the part of religious preachers? If that responsibility were followed, we would still have the indigenous cultures of Egypt and South America. All the indigenous traditions that were responsible for such colossal structures like the pyramids, which are not only in Egypt but also in Mexico, are no longer in existence. When I visited Egypt a few years ago, I asked the Egyptologist who was with me, if I could see the people belonging to the cultural tradition that made the pyramids, the Egyptologist replied that there was not a single person to be found. The culture was totally wiped out. The ancient Greek culture, the South American culture, and other indigenous cultures are all gone. All over the world, the indigenous traditions not given to expansionism through conversion programs are slowly disappearing.

The non-aggressive traditions are pitted against aggressive traditions, which have in their theologies certain mandates. In the name of religion, they are mandated to do what they are doing. In all conferences I have attended, I am asked to help with the committee that drafts resolutions. I always have asked for the term “mutual respect among all religions” to be included as one of the resolutions, but always this mutual respect clause is struck down, and is replaced by “freedom of religion.” The freedom of religion is understood by some as the freedom to preach and convert with an evangelistic program. They feel they are mandated to convert, and they think they are saving souls. According to them, I am to be saved. I do not need to be saved. The situation is similar to the story of the person who went to a pond and started to pull out all the fishes from the pond and throw them on the grass. A passerby was shocked and exclaimed: “Hey, what are you doing?” The man replied, “I am trying to save these fishes from drowning.” Like this person, one can have the right to believe anything one wants. You are committing violence through conversion. It is not a market share, or a propaganda war.

Swami Dayananda Saraswati

Pushing Hindus into a corner

Tarun Vijay | October 27, 2008

One Diwali the highly revered monk of Hindus, Swami Jayendra Saraswati, was arrested while performing puja. The secular world celebrated it as a victory of law and constitutional propriety. When nothing was proved, all the chargesheets turned bunkum, the Supreme Court gave a verdict favouring the swami's release on bail, but no one retracted the strong, often abusive words used for the Hindu monk. It was met with silence as if nothing important had happened.

One Krishna Janmashtami night, another ochre-robed reformist monk, Swami Lakshmanananda, was murdered along with an aged Hindu nun, Ma Bhaktimoyee, in his ashram. Secularists tried to direct and guide the entire investigation till the arrested murderers confessed that swami's work among tribals made prosylitisation difficult and hence they took the violent way.

The media linked the violence post-Lakshmanananda's murder to various Hindu organisations and completely ignored the brutal killing of the sanyasi and the lady monk.

This Diwali, Hindus were labelled as 'terrorists'.

There is a university in Delhi which gets a large amount of Saudi grants, and which thought it appropriate to honour a Muslim painter whose nudes of Hindu gods and goddesses and Mother India were opposed by Hindus, with a Doctor of Philosophy degree, honoris causa. The same university's vice chancellor, in a display of public affection for those students arrested for treason by a Congress government, declared that he will fund their 'struggle' as they are his 'children' and they would be considered innocent till proved guilty.

The secular world applauded his decision as bold and highly moral.

A Hindu sadhvi has been arrested for her alleged involvement in the Malegaon blasts. But not a single Hindu organisation came out in her support saying she remains a member of the global Hindu fraternity and would be considered innocent till proved guilty and hence shall provide all the financial assistance to her.

I was thinking, suppose I start a 'support Pragya fund' how any Hindu saints and ashrams and mutts and leaders would come out in support? Doesn't she deserve help and support till proved innocent?

Unlike the sweet little students of the university's vice chancellor, who were arrested from the area of the Batla House encounter, Pragya was in Surat, giving a religious discourse when the Malegaon blasts occurred in September. Her bike had been sold years before. No one said the blasts were organised to make Hindu law applicable or turn the nation into a Hindu state. No one had quoted Hindu scriptures to justify what would be termed as a ghastly act, inhuman and un-Hindu.

Yet, there was a virtual celebration in the so-called secular camp, they were over-joyous as if they have reached the moon. Got it, they said, what we were saying for years! The usual suspects were on our TV screens, delightedly giving interviews and the media lapped up crispy descriptions like Hindu terror, Hindu bomb, Saffron terrorism. When they quote the Quran, seculars cry don't label them Islamic terrorists, but Hindus being Hindus must be termed as Hindu terrorists to keep a 'balance'. So those who insult the memory of a martyred police officer show their glee over having succeeded in bringing the term 'Hindu terrorism' in vogue. What greater shield could an Islamic terrorist have wished for!

They were itching for this day and they have got it.

Last year too the 2006 Malegaon blasts were blamed on Hindus. Later the agencies proved they were done by SIMI. This year, Union ministers were demanding the ban on SIMI be lifted in spite of truckloads of evidence of the organisation's involvement in deadly blasts and waging war against the State, the most heinous crime in any part of the world. And the investigations, gathering of proof and the hard, difficult investigation, were done by government agencies.

The same honourable members of the Union cabinet demanded banning Hindu organisations, in spite of having no evidence of their involvement in violent activities or working against the Indian State. Those who ignore the Supreme Court's verdict on a terrorist who was accused waging war against the State, demand that Hindu organisations be banned for their patriotism. Once they drove out the tricolour folks from the Kashmir Valley, now they assassinate their morale in the rest of the country.

For the sake of Muslim vote-bank, SIMI had to be helped and Hindu organisations needed to be shown as being involved in anti-national activities. The balancing had to be achieved, like the U C Banerjee Commission. Much before the honourable commission could start work on Godhra, leaders were declaring during the Bihar election campaign -- many of whom loved to be seen with an Osama look-alike -- that the Godhra train inferno was a creation of Hindus so that they could get a chance to pounce on Muslims.

So much for their secular credentials!

This time, too, they had tremendous amount of pressure to nurse their vote-banks. Elections are right here, campaigning has begun, chances look very bleak seeing the public mood, and voters seem already restless with high prices, growing inflation and an insecure atmosphere. Hence a communal divide would help. If such considerations can be credited as having instigated the 'creation' of a Hindu or 'Saffron' terrorism, would it be a far-fetched conclusion?

The intelligent people who could create a Bhindranwale, to 'defeat' one or the other political opponent, could also be trusted to repeat the feat elsewhere.

So, this time, the police version is not to be distrusted or questioned. The first suspicion about police action is reserved for the Batla House fraternity. Hindu monks do not deserve it.

The term 'Hindu terrorism' looks so attractive to secularists. Proof, evidence, and final acquittal may take year. But the articles, front page edits, condemnations, further isolation, and cornering of the saffron side, would help someone. That's enough for today.

That this way may turn more dangerous tomorrow is not understood by the perpetrators of the secular pogrom of words against the Hindu Right. Every nation has a soul and a colour. India's soul is Hindu civilisation and the colour is saffron. Samuel Huntington described America as a Latin Christian nation, and it doesn't make her any less to give other communities second-class citizenship.

It may be the first time in its four hundred years of democratic history that a Black might be sworn in as President, who would take oath on the Bible. Who would demand that it's an unhealthy tradition, as non-Christians also built America? Traditions, colours and the inner core are always sacred and nations preserve them at all costs. If the same elements are humiliated and turned into icons of shame, nothing remains except a dead, meaningless smoke of rootless words.

India's Hinduness is that essential element to define this nation. We can't be explained through Saudis, Marx or Bethlehem. Or through Arabic or Latin or Persian. India is explained by the Ganga, Krishna, Ram and Gandhi. By Kumbh Mela, Sanskrit chanting, lighting of the lamp, Namaste, the Vedas, Guru Nanak's teachings, Guru Gobind Singh's valour, Buddha's global message of peace and compassion and Mahavir's ahimsa. India is deciphered by Dhammapad, the Gita, the Guru Granth Sahib and a divine love that saw the emergence of Radha and Meera. That fired the imaginations of doyens like Tagore and Vivekananda. Together they make a mutually supportive group of Indian streams of faith that welcomed and accommodated without murmur all other ways of worship brought here through various means.

Every single persecuted community in the world found a respectable space here, while they were brutalised, uprooted, converted and 'museum-ised' in other countries. The legacy of tolerance and plurality is the legacy of the Hindus and all those faiths born and flowered here. It made Taj Mahal possible and Jesus adored by a non-Christian majority. You deny them this place of honour, make them shrink in a defensive shell, and you lose India.

For just a comeback to power? And how!

Ram Sethu becomes a target of destruction, Ram is denied, Ram's history linked with the bridge is mocked at, Sita's persona is caricaturized in public, the shrinking Hindu population and their conversion become victory signposts of the secularists, Hindus driven out of Kashmir are deleted from all lists of secular concern, Hindu temples are taken over by the atheist State and their revenue used on non-Hindu areas, while not a single non-Hindu place of worship is taken over or 'managed' on similar grounds by the governors! More than sixty thousand Hindus have been killed by terrorists in various actions during the last three decades, five lakh have been uprooted and turned refugees, but no one shares their grief or respects their courage, but terms them terrorist in a matter of 24 hours, that too relying on media hype and an election platform?

After centuries Hindus got freedom that should have meant a free space for them to flower their culture, language and traditions. After all, the invaders came to attack and loot them and raze their temples. Wasn't it a matter of logical right that they should have been honoured for exemplary resistance and resilience and showing an extraordinary tolerance towards all those communities whose leaders had been in the forefront to deprive them of basic human rights? But instead, the victims were portrayed as aggressors and humiliated for their colour and faith. What has changed since Ghauris and Ghaznavis and the inquisitionist Portuguese left?

They killed us but never portrayed Hindus as terrorists. This secular dispensation is celebrating Diwali with that label gifted to Hindus. It will not remain unanswered. Hindus as a mainline faith never never never believed in any kind of cowardice that's the hallmark of terrorism we see today. Killing innocents, shooting at fellow citizens and the dreaded midnight knocks just for the reason they wear a different faith.

If that was the case, the way Islamists quote from religious scriptures and declare their religious intentions while committing ghastly acts of violence, how much ever disapproved of by their co- religionists living and enjoying democratic freedoms, Hindus too would have shown the same streaks immediately after their women were gang-raped and kids murdered in Kashmir. There was no revenge in the rest of the country. Not a single Hindu soul would ever justify any act of terrorism ever (and please don't refer to exceptions to corner Hindus, see the principal stream). Born reformists, they would revolt if anyone did that.

But I am afraid the secular hate-mongers are pushing Hindus into a difficult corner without a space to be heard. Not a single 'mainline' newspaper publishes their views, though any number of assaults on them are a matter of routine. This is creating a grave situation and it's a warning signal that can be ignored only at the peril of the nation's great legacy of plurality.
