No out-of-court solution or delaying Ayodhya verdict: Court

A week before it is to rule on the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid row, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court Friday turned down a plea for delaying the long-pending verdict and directing an out-of-court amicable settlement of the dispute.
The court also slapped costs of Rs. 2 lakhs on the applicant, though sources later said that the figure was drastically reduced at the conclusion of the nearly hour-long hearing.
Rejecting the application moved earlier this week by low-profile retired bureaucrat Ramesh Chandra Tripathi, the three-judge special bench of Justice S.U. Khan, Justice Sudhir Agrawal and Justice Dharam Veer Sharma upheld its decision to deliver the judgment Sep 24.
"Postponement of the judgment could lead to more problems than the judgment itself," said Justice Khan, the seniormost judge on the special bench.
He further observed: "We have made several endeavours in the past to persuade the parties to find an amicable solution through conciliation, but they never agreed to do so. Therefore, as a court of law, we are required to pass a judgment."
Supporting Justice Khan's view, Justice Agrawal pointed out that efforts for conciliation and an amicable out-of-court settlement were made by at least three prime ministers, two central laws and also a presidential reference to the Supreme Court. "However, all those efforts remained in vain," he noted.
The court also castigated Tripathi for waking up at the eleventh hour, well after it had reserved its verdict and resolved to pronounce it Sep 24. "Where were you all these years while the case was being heard," asked Justice Khan.
However, he added: "Even today if majority of the parties agree to get the matter resolved through concilliation, we will gladly welcome the move".
Even when the judge went to the extent of throwing open the offer to parties present in the court, there was only one voice that rose in favour of an out-of-court settlement.
This was on behalf of 'Nirmohi Akhara', whose counsel Ranjeet Lal Verma had sought to make a last-minute attempt to support Tripathi's plea for an amicable out-of-court settlement. The Akhara is one of the key parties in the 60-year-old legal battle which has as many as 40 parties - 32 seeking the title to the disputed site as Lord Rama's birthplace and eight in support of the Babri Mosque.
Meanwhile, Justice Sharma, who had late Monday evening entertained Tripathi's application despite the absence of the other two judges on the bench, remained silent throughout the hearing.
Asserting that the mosque was built after the descecration of an ancient Hindu temple on the spot, violent Hindu mobs pulled the Babri Masjid down on Dec 6, 1992, triggering one of India's worst post-partition communal clashes that left over 2,000 dead.

Court rebuffs move to defer Ayodhya judgement

An effort for deferring the judgement in the 60-year-old title suit in the Ramjanambhoomi -Babri Masjid dispute was on Friday rebuffed by the Allahabad High Court, which will now pronounce its verdict on Sept 24.
A 3-judge Special Bench of the Court rejected a petition filed by one Ramesh Chandra Tripathi for deferring the judgement for working out an out-of-court amicable settlement of the issue saying there was no no merit in the application.
The Special Bench, comprising Justice S.U Khan , Justice D.V Sharma and Justice Sudhir Agarwal, decided to imposed a heavy fine which would be annunced later though Justice Agarwal proposed a fine of Rs. Five lakh.
The judges asked the parties whether they were interested in going for any discussion for a compromise and none of them showed interest. Following this, the court rejected the petition for deferring the judgement.
Tripathi, a defendent in the case, had filed the application for making another attempt to reach a solution to the dispute through reconciliation and deferment of the verdict.
Objections were filed yesterday by Sunni Central Board of Wakf and the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha before Court against any deferment of the verdict and with today's order they have become infructous.
Zafaryab Jilani, Counsel for Sunni Wakf Board, toldreporters outside the court that Tripathi's application was rejected with costs.
He said the court pointed out to the counsel pleading for deferment a 1954 judgement of the Supreme Court that such a petition could not not be entertained at this stage and asked him if he was aware of it. The counsel replied that he was aware of it.
When the Bench asked the parties to the dispute their opinion on the application that the matter could be settled through mediation and discussion, all of them replied that they had no no such hope.
Jilani said Tripathi could have been "set up" by someone with "mala fide" intention for delaying the judgement.
Asked whether today's order could be contested, he said any order could be challenged but it carried the risk of the fine going up.
Harish Jain, lawyer for Hindu Mahasabha, said every party submitted before the court that they were not not prepared for further delay in the judgement in the case.
Another lawyer M M Pandey said in any compromise among parties there would be some mutual negotiations between them but the present application for deferment was not not backed even by a single.
He said the court wanted to know whether the parties wanted a compromise and everybody (parties) rejected it.
Meanwhile, Nirmohi Akhara, one of the main parties tothe Ayodhya title dispute, today filed an application seeking time till September 27 to arrive at a compromise.
The application filed by lawyer R L Verma on behalf of Mahant Raja Ramchandra has sought ten days' time to explore an out of court settlement on the issue.
The application has also said that a retired judge of the Supreme Court or High Court should be appointed as a mediator the title suit dispute in either Lucknow or in Ayodhya.
Asked if a compromise was possible, the Mahant said that "in the interest of the nation, nothing is impossible".
Gopal Singh Visharad, Nirmohi Akhara, the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Waqf Board and Ram Lalla Virajman are the main parties to the title dispute.
Citing apprehension of breach of peace and the upcoming Commonwealth Games, two separate applications seeking directions for deferring the verdict were also moved before the Allahabad High Court on September 13.

RSS former Sarasanghachalak KS Sudarshanji called for Hindu-Muslim Unity in a program organized by Muslim Rashtriya Manch at Bangalore today afternoon.
Speaking to a select audience KS Sudarshanji opinioned that "Hindu and Muslim society witnessed a huge divide after the arrival of Europeans especially British. They brought divide and rule policy in administration which affected the lifestyle of the both communities in reality. Mount Baten's efforts to keep a divide between Hindus and Muslims resulted in country division in 1947. Unfortunately though British Ruling is changed still the divide is persisting. we all need to build a harmonious society"
"Though India has several communities, diverse way of worships by our nationhood we are all Hindus.Just Like ,a citizen of China is called as Chinese, of Japan called as Japanese, of Britain called as British a person from Hindustan is called as Hindu only irrespective of the way of worship" Sudarshanji added.
"Since the arrival of British to India during Shahjahn's rule, they strategically broght Hindu-Muslim devide to make their business comfortable. initially they made small Hindu-Muslim kings to fight each other. later they targetted community. even during 1857, they used swine and cattle fat in kadatoos
used in army camps. Mangal pandey opposed it and he is remembered for his sacrifice. Later this devide among the community saw worst situation when India devided and new country Pakistan and Bangladesh were formed in later decades."
"Though way of worship is different, always humanity stands first. recently parents of a siamese twins of Pakistan arrived to Bangalore for the surgery. then entire nation prayed for the success of surgery and offered mass prayers. this shows that we love humanity as our basic way of life, we don't have a cruel mentality to fight each other. but vote bank politics has made this wound of divide unhealed. Pseudo-secular politicians want to keep this divide forever and are drawing its profits to their survival" he opinioned.
Adding to his words, Sudarshanji told "We have several Languages in India, we speak multiple languages. Hindi is considered to be a link language. Once RSS's second Sarasanghachalak Sri MS Golwalkar told in Coimbattore that all languages of India are national languages, Hindi is spoken by many in India hence it could connect everyone, that is why Hindi is a national link language. I believe that Urdu is also an Indian language among many other Indian langauges."

राष्ट्रीयता बनाम अराष्ट्रीयता
श्रीराम जन्मभूमि आन्दोलन केवल हिन्दू मुस्लिम संघर्ष नहीं, मंदिर-मस्जिद विवाद नहीं यह राष्ट्रीयता बनाम अराष्ट्रीय का संघर्ष है। राष्ट्र माने केवल भू
भाग, जमीन का टुकड़ा नहीं वरन उस जमीन पर बसने वाले समाज में विद्यमान एकत्व की भावना है। यह भावना देश का इतिहास, परम्परा, संस्कृति से निर्माण होती है।
राम इस देश का इतिहास ही नहीं बल्कि एक संस्कृति और मर्यादा का प्रतीक हैं, एक जीता जागता आदर्श हैं। इस राष्ट्र की हजारों वर्ष की सनातन परम्परा के मूलपुरुष हैं। हिन्दुस्थान का हर व्यक्ति, चाहे पुरुष हो, महिला हो, किसी प्रांत या भाषा का हो उसे राम से, रामकथा से जो लगाव है, उसकी जितनी जानकारी है, जितनी श्रद्धा है और किसी में भी नहीं है। भगवान राम राष्ट्रीय एकता के प्रतीक हैं। राम राष्ट्र की आत्मा हैं।
संविधान निर्माताओं ने भी संविधान की प्रथम प्रति में लंका विजय के बाद पुष्पक विमान में बैठकर जाने वाले श्रीराम, माता जानकी व लक्ष्मण जी का चित्र दिया है। संविधान सभा में तो सभी मत-मतान्तरों के लोग थे। सभी की सहमति से ही चित्र छपा है। उस प्रथम प्रति में गीतोपदेश करते भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण, भगवान् बुद्ध, भगवान् महावीर आदि श्रेष्ठ पुरूषों के चित्र हैं। ये हमारे राष्ट्रीय महापुरुष हैं। अतः ऐसे भगवान् राम के जन्मस्थान की रक्षा करना हमारा संवैधानिक दायित्व भी है।
डॉ. राम मनोहर लोहिया का कथन समाजवादी विचारधारा के सुप्रसिद्ध, भारतीय विद्वान डॉ. राममनोहर लोहिया जी को हम सब जानते हैं।
उन्होंने कहा है- ‘ राम-कृष्ण-शिव हमारे आदर्श हैं। राम ने उत्तर-दक्षिण जोड़ा और कृष्ण ने पूर्व-पश्चिम जोड़ा। अपने जीवन के आदर्श इस दृष्टि से सारी जनता राम-कृष्ण-शिव की तरफ देखती है। राम मर्यादित जीवन का परमोत्कर्ष हैं, कृष्ण उन्मुक्त जीवन की सिद्धि हैं और शिव यह असीमित व्यक्तित्व की संपूर्णता है। हे भारत माता ! हमें शिव की बुद्धि दो, कृष्ण का हृदय दो और राम की कर्मशक्ति, एकवचनता दो। ’ ऐसे राष्ट्रीय महापुरुष के जन्मस्थान की रक्षा करना हमारा राष्ट्रीय कर्त्तव्य है। देश की एकता और अखण्डता के लिए करणीय कार्य है।
सोमनाथ मंदिर -पुनर्निर्माण
श्रीराम जन्मभूमि राष्ट्रीय अस्मिता व स्वाभिमान का विषय है। अपमान का परिमार्जन करना ही पुरुषार्थ है। इसके लिए यह आन्दोलन है। स्वाभिमान जागरण से ही देश खड़ा होता है और सारी समस्याओं का हल करने का सामर्थ्य बढ़ता है। स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के बाद ऐसा प्रयत्न अपवाद स्वरूप में ही हुआ। सोमनाथ मंदिर का पुनर्निर्माण यह अपवाद था। यह मंदिर 1026 से इक्कीस बार तोड़ा गया परन्तु बार-बार उसका पुनर्निर्माण होता रहा। आखिर औरंगजेब के आदेश से सन् 1706 में यह मंदिर तोड़ा गया और वहां मस्जिद निर्माण की गई। स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के बाद गुलामी के चिह्न हटाने और स्वाभिमान जागरण के लिए सरदार पटेल ने सोमनाथ मंदिर के पुनर्निर्माण का संकल्प लिया। महात्मा गांधी जी ने उसका समर्थन किया। पं. नेहरूजी के मंत्रिमण्डल ने जिसमें मौलाना आजाद भी एक मंत्री थे, सभी ने सोमनाथ मंदिर निर्माण की अनुमति दी। संसद ने प्रस्ताव पारित किया।
उस समय देश के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति महामहिम डॉ. राजेन्द्र प्रसाद जी थे। उनके करकमलों से 11 मई, 1951 को सोमनाथ में शिवलिंग की प्राण प्रतिष्ठा का कार्यक्रम सम्पन्न हुआ। उनके वहां जाने का कुछ सेक्युलरिस्टों ने विरोध किया परन्तु उन्होंने माना नहीं। यह देश की अस्मिता का, प्रतिष्ठा का विषय है, ऐसी डॉ. राजेन्द्र प्रसाद की भावना थी। उस समय सोमनाथ में उन्होंने कहा, ‘सोमनाथ भारतीयों का श्रद्धा स्थान है। श्रद्धा के प्रतीक का किसी ने विध्वंस किया तो भी श्रद्धा का स्फूर्तिस्रोत नष्ट नहीं हो सकता। इस मंदिर के पुनर्निर्माण का हमारा सपना साकार हुआ। उसका आनन्द अवर्णनीय है। ’’इस कार्यक्रम में भगवान् सोमनाथ को 121 तोपों से सलामी दी गई थी। ’
25 दिसम्बर 1947 को दिल्ली के बिरला हाउस में महात्मा गांधी जी द्वारा दिया गया प्रवचन महत्व का है। एक उर्दू समाचार पत्र में लेख आया था कि अगर सोमनाथ होगा तो फिर से गजनी आयेगा। उस प्रवचन में महात्मा गांधीजी बोले--मोहम्मद गजनी ने जंगली, हीन काम किया। उसके बारे में यहां के मुसलमान गर्व का अनुभव करते हैं तो यह दुर्भाग्य का विषय है। इस्लामी राज में जो बुराइयां हुईं, उन्हें मुस्लिमों को समझना और कबूल करना चाहिए। अगर यहां के मुसलमान फिर से गजनी की भाषा बोलेंगे तो इसे यहां कोई बर्दाश्त नहीं करेगा। ’
सोमनाथ मंदिर के सम्बन्ध में जो भावना महात्मा गांधी, सरदार पटेल, डॉ. राजेन्द्र प्रसाद आदि महानुभावों की थी, वही भावना श्रीराम जन्मभूमि के संबंध में हमारी है।
गुलामी के चिह्न हटाना
1947 में स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के बाद देश के चौराहों में, बगीचों में लगी विक्टोरिया रानी और जॉर्ज पांचवें की मूर्तियां हटाई गईं। सड़कों के नाम बदले, दिल्ली का इर्विन अस्पताल जयप्रकाश नारायण अस्पताल बना, मिण्टो ब्रिज को शिवाजी ब्रिज कहने लगे। मुम्बई में विन्सेट रोड डॉ. बाबा साहेब आम्बेडकर रोड हो गया और विक्टोरिया टर्मिनल रेलवे स्टेशन का नाम छत्रपति शिवाजी टर्मिनल हो गया। ये पुराने नाम गुलामी के चिह्न थे इसीलिए हटाए गए। बाबरी ढांचा गुलामी का चिह्न था; राम जन्मभूमि मंदिर यह स्वतंत्रता का चिह्न है।
पोलैण्ड का चर्च
आधा यूरोप अनेक साल इस्लामी वर्चस्व में रहा। उस समय इस्लामी आक्रान्ताओं ने अनेक चर्च गिराकर वहां मस्जिदें बनाईं। स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के बाद इन ईसाई यूरोपियन देशों ने ऐसी मस्जिदें ध्वस्त करके वहां फिर से चर्च बनाए। यह अपमान का परिमार्जन था। 1815 में पोलैण्ड रूस ने जीता। जीतने के बाद रूस ने पोलैण्ड की राजधानी वारसा में एक बड़े चौराहे पर एक चर्च का निर्माण किया। प्रथम महायुद्ध की समाप्ति के समय 1918 में पोलैण्ड स्वतंत्र हुआ। स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के बाद पोलैण्ड की सरकार ने रूस निर्मित चर्च गिराया और उसी जगह दूसरे चर्च का निर्माण किया। रूस और पोलैण्ड दोनों ईसाई हैं, तो भी रूसी चर्च क्यों गिराया गया ? स्वाभिमानी पोलैण्ड की सरकार का उत्तर था-रूसी चर्च गुलामी का चिह्न था, इसीलिए वह गिराया और अब यह नया चर्च हमारी स्वतंत्रता का प्रतीक है। इसको कहते हैं राष्ट्रीय स्वाभिमान। इसी भावना से अयोध्या, मथुरा, काशी के धर्मस्थान मुक्त होने चाहिए।

हम सब जानते हैं कि 1669 में औरंगजेब ने काशी विश्वनाथ का मंदिर तोडा और वहां ज्ञानवापी मस्जिद बनाई। यह समाचार मिलते ही शिवाजी ने औरंगजेब को चेतावनी देने वाला और काशी विश्वनाथ सहित अन्य धर्मस्थान मुक्त करने का संकल्प व्यक्त करने वाला पत्र लिखा था। अपने अन्य सरदार, मंत्रियों के साथ धर्मस्थान मुक्ति की चर्चा छत्रपति शिवाजी करते थे। स्वयं छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराज ने अनेक मंदिरों का पुनर्निर्माण किया था। वे जब दक्षिण भारत में गए थे तो आज के तमिलनाडु में दो मंदिरों का पुनर्निर्माण किया। कुछ वर्ष पहले दोनों मंदिर गिराकर मुसलमानों ने वहां मस्जिदें बनायी थी। मस्जिदें गिराकर फिर से मंदिर का निर्माण किया गया। सभी मराठा सरदार, पेशवा इस संकल्प पूर्ति के लिए प्रयत्न करते थे। सुप्रसिद्ध ज्योर्तिलिंग त्र्यम्बकेश्वर, तीर्थ क्षेत्र नासिक स्थित सुंदर नारायण मंदिर, उज्जैन का महाकालेश्वर मंदिर जैसे अनेक मंदिरों का मुगल राज ने विध्वंस किया था। इन मंदिरों का पुनर्निर्माण मराठों ने बाद में किया था।
जब मराठों के विजयी घोड़े उत्तर भारत में दौड़ने लगे तो धर्मस्थान मुक्ति का प्रयत्न प्रारंभ हुआ। सन् 1751 से 1759 में अवध के नवाब को अयोध्या, प्रयाग, काशी की मुक्ति की शर्त लगाकर ही मदद की गयी थी। मराठों का लगातार दबाव रहा था। दुर्भाग्य से पानीपत की सन् 1761 की लड़ाई में हार हुई और काशी, अयोध्या उस समय मुक्त नहीं हो सके।
भारत के मुसलमान ध्यान दें!
हमारा बाबर का क्या सम्बन्ध है ? वो एक विदेशी, विधर्मी हमलावर था। बाबर मध्य एशिया का था। उसने पहले अफगानिस्तान जीता, बाद में भारत में आया। बाबर की कब्र अफगानिस्तान में है। भारत का एक प्रतिनिधि मण्डल 1969 में अफगानिस्तान गया था। उसमें सुप्रसिद्ध विचारक, अफगानिस्तान-नीति के विशेषज्ञ डॉ. वेदप्रताप वैदिक भी थे। वे बाबर की कब्र देखने गए। वह कब्र जीर्ण-शीर्ण अवस्था में थी। उन्होंने एक अफगानी नेता से पूछा, बाबर के कब्र की ऐसी दुरावस्था क्यों ? अफगान नेता का उत्तर था-बाबर का हमारा क्या सम्बन्ध ? बाबर एक विदेशी हमलावर था, उसने हमारे ऊपर आक्रमण किया, हमें गुलाम बनाया। वह मुसलमान था इसीलिए यह कब्र हमने गिरायी नहीं। परन्तु जिस दिन गिरेगी, उस समय हरेक अफगानी को आनन्द होगा। बाबर हमारा शत्रु था, यह बोलने वाले श्री बबरक करमाल 1981 में अफगान प्रधानमंत्री बने। उनकी भावना भारत के मुसलमानों ने ध्यान में लेनी चाहिए।
इण्डोनेशिया की 90 प्रतिशत आबादी मुस्लिम है। वह घोषित मुस्लिम देश है। परन्तु उनका सर्वश्रेष्ठ आदर्श आज भी ‘ राम ’ है। वहां के प्राथमिक विद्यालय में रामायण का अध्ययन अनिवार्य है। भारत में क्यों नहीं ? इण्डोनेशिया 700 वर्ष पहले हिन्दू-बौद्ध था। उन्होंने अपनी परंपराएं नहीं छोड़ी है।
ईरान मुस्लिम देश है परन्तु वे रूस्तम, सोहराब को राष्ट्रीय पुरुष मानते हैं। रूस्तक, सोहराब तीन हजार साल पहले हुए और वे पारसी थे; मुस्लिम नहीं। मिस्र देश में पिरामिड राष्ट्रीय प्रतीक है। पिरामिड साढ़े तीन हजार वर्ष पूर्व के हैं और उस समय इस्लाम था ही नहीं। भगवान् राम हजारों वर्ष पूर्व हुए; उस समय इस्लाम था ही नहीं। भारत के मुसलमान भी 200-400-800 साल पहले हिन्दू ही थे। तो भारत के मुस्लिम राम को अपना पूर्वज, भारत का राष्ट्रीय महापुरूष क्यों नहीं मानते ?
ईरान और मिस्र के मुस्लिमों का आदर्श यहां के मुसलमान रखेंगे तो सारी समस्या का हल हो जायेगा। भारत का उत्थान हो जायेगा। राष्ट्रीय एकता आयेगी।
राष्ट्रीयता बनाम अराष्ट्रीयता
भगवान श्रीराम भारत की पहचान है, राष्ट्रीयता के प्रतीक हैं। बाबर विदेशी हमलावर, हमारा शत्रु था। बाबर के संबंध में गुरु नानकदेवजी ने कहा है, बाबर का राज माने पाप की बारात। उस बाबर ने मंदिर तोडा, उस बाबरी ढांचे के लिए चिल्लाना यह अराष्ट्रीयता है। हम राम के भक्त है या बाबर के वारिस यह प्रश्न सबको पूछना चाहिए ? राम मंदिर निर्माण यह राष्ट्रीयता का विषय है। उस पर समझौता नहीं हो सकता।

भाग, जमीन का टुकड़ा नहीं वरन उस जमीन पर बसने वाले समाज में विद्यमान एकत्व की भावना है। यह भावना देश का इतिहास, परम्परा, संस्कृति से निर्माण होती है।
राम इस देश का इतिहास ही नहीं बल्कि एक संस्कृति और मर्यादा का प्रतीक हैं, एक जीता जागता आदर्श हैं। इस राष्ट्र की हजारों वर्ष की सनातन परम्परा के मूलपुरुष हैं। हिन्दुस्थान का हर व्यक्ति, चाहे पुरुष हो, महिला हो, किसी प्रांत या भाषा का हो उसे राम से, रामकथा से जो लगाव है, उसकी जितनी जानकारी है, जितनी श्रद्धा है और किसी में भी नहीं है। भगवान राम राष्ट्रीय एकता के प्रतीक हैं। राम राष्ट्र की आत्मा हैं।
संविधान निर्माताओं ने भी संविधान की प्रथम प्रति में लंका विजय के बाद पुष्पक विमान में बैठकर जाने वाले श्रीराम, माता जानकी व लक्ष्मण जी का चित्र दिया है। संविधान सभा में तो सभी मत-मतान्तरों के लोग थे। सभी की सहमति से ही चित्र छपा है। उस प्रथम प्रति में गीतोपदेश करते भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण, भगवान् बुद्ध, भगवान् महावीर आदि श्रेष्ठ पुरूषों के चित्र हैं। ये हमारे राष्ट्रीय महापुरुष हैं। अतः ऐसे भगवान् राम के जन्मस्थान की रक्षा करना हमारा संवैधानिक दायित्व भी है।
डॉ. राम मनोहर लोहिया का कथन समाजवादी विचारधारा के सुप्रसिद्ध, भारतीय विद्वान डॉ. राममनोहर लोहिया जी को हम सब जानते हैं।
उन्होंने कहा है- ‘ राम-कृष्ण-शिव हमारे आदर्श हैं। राम ने उत्तर-दक्षिण जोड़ा और कृष्ण ने पूर्व-पश्चिम जोड़ा। अपने जीवन के आदर्श इस दृष्टि से सारी जनता राम-कृष्ण-शिव की तरफ देखती है। राम मर्यादित जीवन का परमोत्कर्ष हैं, कृष्ण उन्मुक्त जीवन की सिद्धि हैं और शिव यह असीमित व्यक्तित्व की संपूर्णता है। हे भारत माता ! हमें शिव की बुद्धि दो, कृष्ण का हृदय दो और राम की कर्मशक्ति, एकवचनता दो। ’ ऐसे राष्ट्रीय महापुरुष के जन्मस्थान की रक्षा करना हमारा राष्ट्रीय कर्त्तव्य है। देश की एकता और अखण्डता के लिए करणीय कार्य है।
सोमनाथ मंदिर -पुनर्निर्माण
श्रीराम जन्मभूमि राष्ट्रीय अस्मिता व स्वाभिमान का विषय है। अपमान का परिमार्जन करना ही पुरुषार्थ है। इसके लिए यह आन्दोलन है। स्वाभिमान जागरण से ही देश खड़ा होता है और सारी समस्याओं का हल करने का सामर्थ्य बढ़ता है। स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के बाद ऐसा प्रयत्न अपवाद स्वरूप में ही हुआ। सोमनाथ मंदिर का पुनर्निर्माण यह अपवाद था। यह मंदिर 1026 से इक्कीस बार तोड़ा गया परन्तु बार-बार उसका पुनर्निर्माण होता रहा। आखिर औरंगजेब के आदेश से सन् 1706 में यह मंदिर तोड़ा गया और वहां मस्जिद निर्माण की गई। स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के बाद गुलामी के चिह्न हटाने और स्वाभिमान जागरण के लिए सरदार पटेल ने सोमनाथ मंदिर के पुनर्निर्माण का संकल्प लिया। महात्मा गांधी जी ने उसका समर्थन किया। पं. नेहरूजी के मंत्रिमण्डल ने जिसमें मौलाना आजाद भी एक मंत्री थे, सभी ने सोमनाथ मंदिर निर्माण की अनुमति दी। संसद ने प्रस्ताव पारित किया।
उस समय देश के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति महामहिम डॉ. राजेन्द्र प्रसाद जी थे। उनके करकमलों से 11 मई, 1951 को सोमनाथ में शिवलिंग की प्राण प्रतिष्ठा का कार्यक्रम सम्पन्न हुआ। उनके वहां जाने का कुछ सेक्युलरिस्टों ने विरोध किया परन्तु उन्होंने माना नहीं। यह देश की अस्मिता का, प्रतिष्ठा का विषय है, ऐसी डॉ. राजेन्द्र प्रसाद की भावना थी। उस समय सोमनाथ में उन्होंने कहा, ‘सोमनाथ भारतीयों का श्रद्धा स्थान है। श्रद्धा के प्रतीक का किसी ने विध्वंस किया तो भी श्रद्धा का स्फूर्तिस्रोत नष्ट नहीं हो सकता। इस मंदिर के पुनर्निर्माण का हमारा सपना साकार हुआ। उसका आनन्द अवर्णनीय है। ’’इस कार्यक्रम में भगवान् सोमनाथ को 121 तोपों से सलामी दी गई थी। ’
25 दिसम्बर 1947 को दिल्ली के बिरला हाउस में महात्मा गांधी जी द्वारा दिया गया प्रवचन महत्व का है। एक उर्दू समाचार पत्र में लेख आया था कि अगर सोमनाथ होगा तो फिर से गजनी आयेगा। उस प्रवचन में महात्मा गांधीजी बोले--मोहम्मद गजनी ने जंगली, हीन काम किया। उसके बारे में यहां के मुसलमान गर्व का अनुभव करते हैं तो यह दुर्भाग्य का विषय है। इस्लामी राज में जो बुराइयां हुईं, उन्हें मुस्लिमों को समझना और कबूल करना चाहिए। अगर यहां के मुसलमान फिर से गजनी की भाषा बोलेंगे तो इसे यहां कोई बर्दाश्त नहीं करेगा। ’
सोमनाथ मंदिर के सम्बन्ध में जो भावना महात्मा गांधी, सरदार पटेल, डॉ. राजेन्द्र प्रसाद आदि महानुभावों की थी, वही भावना श्रीराम जन्मभूमि के संबंध में हमारी है।
गुलामी के चिह्न हटाना
1947 में स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के बाद देश के चौराहों में, बगीचों में लगी विक्टोरिया रानी और जॉर्ज पांचवें की मूर्तियां हटाई गईं। सड़कों के नाम बदले, दिल्ली का इर्विन अस्पताल जयप्रकाश नारायण अस्पताल बना, मिण्टो ब्रिज को शिवाजी ब्रिज कहने लगे। मुम्बई में विन्सेट रोड डॉ. बाबा साहेब आम्बेडकर रोड हो गया और विक्टोरिया टर्मिनल रेलवे स्टेशन का नाम छत्रपति शिवाजी टर्मिनल हो गया। ये पुराने नाम गुलामी के चिह्न थे इसीलिए हटाए गए। बाबरी ढांचा गुलामी का चिह्न था; राम जन्मभूमि मंदिर यह स्वतंत्रता का चिह्न है।
पोलैण्ड का चर्च
आधा यूरोप अनेक साल इस्लामी वर्चस्व में रहा। उस समय इस्लामी आक्रान्ताओं ने अनेक चर्च गिराकर वहां मस्जिदें बनाईं। स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के बाद इन ईसाई यूरोपियन देशों ने ऐसी मस्जिदें ध्वस्त करके वहां फिर से चर्च बनाए। यह अपमान का परिमार्जन था। 1815 में पोलैण्ड रूस ने जीता। जीतने के बाद रूस ने पोलैण्ड की राजधानी वारसा में एक बड़े चौराहे पर एक चर्च का निर्माण किया। प्रथम महायुद्ध की समाप्ति के समय 1918 में पोलैण्ड स्वतंत्र हुआ। स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के बाद पोलैण्ड की सरकार ने रूस निर्मित चर्च गिराया और उसी जगह दूसरे चर्च का निर्माण किया। रूस और पोलैण्ड दोनों ईसाई हैं, तो भी रूसी चर्च क्यों गिराया गया ? स्वाभिमानी पोलैण्ड की सरकार का उत्तर था-रूसी चर्च गुलामी का चिह्न था, इसीलिए वह गिराया और अब यह नया चर्च हमारी स्वतंत्रता का प्रतीक है। इसको कहते हैं राष्ट्रीय स्वाभिमान। इसी भावना से अयोध्या, मथुरा, काशी के धर्मस्थान मुक्त होने चाहिए।

देखिए, मेरा स्पष्ट मानना है कि इस देश में हिंदुओं के साथ भेदभाव होता है। उन्हें जानबूझकर निशाना बनाया जा रहा है। कांची शंकराचार्यजी की गिरफ्तारी मेरी बात को सही साबित करती है। मैंने देश में हिंदुओं की स्थिति के बारे में अपनी किताब 'हिंदू अंडर अ सीज़: अ वे आउट' में साफ-साफ लिखा है।
यूपीए सरकार के इस रुख पर कि सेतु तो भगवान राम ने स्वयं ही तोड़ दिया था, क्या प्रतिक्रिया है?
सरकार का यह पक्ष अधूरा है। सरकार को कम से कम विख्यात साधुओं जैसे श्रृंगेरी शंकराचार्य, स्वामी दयानंद सरस्वती पर तो विश्वास करना चाहिए। सुप्रीम कोर्ट में मैंने सरकार द्वारा पेश व्याख्या पढ़ी। भगवान राम ने सिर्फ हवा में ही रेखा खींची थी।
इस मुद्दे पर पर्यावरणविद् आर. के. पचौरी की अगुवाई में बनी समिति को आप किस तरह देखते हैं?
समिति की रिपोर्ट को आने दीजिए। वैसे कोर्ट स्पष्ट रूप से कह चुकी है कि सरकार को लागों की आस्था का सम्मान करना चाहिए। अगर इस ईकनॉमिक डिवेलपमंट प्रॉजेक्ट के कोई वैकल्पिक ऑप्शन है, तो उस पर ध्यान देने की ज़रूरत है।
रामसेतु मुद्दे से तमिल राजनीति किस तरह प्रभावित होगी?
इस मुद्दे के कारण साठ सालों से जड़ जमाए बैठे रामास्वामी नाइकर और करुणास्वामी की नास्तिक सोच की हार हुई है। जनता ने उन्हें पछाड़ने का मन बना लिया है। अगर आगामी चुनावों में एआईडीएमके और जनती पार्टी का अलाइन्स होता है, तो निश्चय ही हिंदुओं के वोट हमें ही मिलेंगे।

रामसेतु पर जिस तरह सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने हिंदुओं की भावनाओं का सम्मान किया है, क्या आपको नहीं लगता कि अयोध्या मुद्दा भी इसी सम्मान का हकदार है?

देखिए, मेरा स्पष्ट मानना है कि इस देश में हिंदुओं के साथ भेदभाव होता है। उन्हें जानबूझकर निशाना बनाया जा रहा है। कांची शंकराचार्यजी की गिरफ्तारी मेरी बात को सही साबित करती है। मैंने देश में हिंदुओं की स्थिति के बारे में अपनी किताब 'हिंदू अंडर अ सीज़: अ वे आउट' में साफ-साफ लिखा है।

सरकार का यह पक्ष अधूरा है। सरकार को कम से कम विख्यात साधुओं जैसे श्रृंगेरी शंकराचार्य, स्वामी दयानंद सरस्वती पर तो विश्वास करना चाहिए। सुप्रीम कोर्ट में मैंने सरकार द्वारा पेश व्याख्या पढ़ी। भगवान राम ने सिर्फ हवा में ही रेखा खींची थी।

समिति की रिपोर्ट को आने दीजिए। वैसे कोर्ट स्पष्ट रूप से कह चुकी है कि सरकार को लागों की आस्था का सम्मान करना चाहिए। अगर इस ईकनॉमिक डिवेलपमंट प्रॉजेक्ट के कोई वैकल्पिक ऑप्शन है, तो उस पर ध्यान देने की ज़रूरत है।
रामसेतु मुद्दे से तमिल राजनीति किस तरह प्रभावित होगी?
इस मुद्दे के कारण साठ सालों से जड़ जमाए बैठे रामास्वामी नाइकर और करुणास्वामी की नास्तिक सोच की हार हुई है। जनता ने उन्हें पछाड़ने का मन बना लिया है। अगर आगामी चुनावों में एआईडीएमके और जनती पार्टी का अलाइन्स होता है, तो निश्चय ही हिंदुओं के वोट हमें ही मिलेंगे।

In a historic move to create social harmony, Maadara seer who represents Madiga community undertook a padayathra in Brahmins locality which received a warm welcome by the social spectrum at Mysore on Tuesday September 15, 2010.

Recently, 2 weeks earlier, Pejawar seer’s visit to the Dalit colony during his 72nd Chathurmasa Vrita has led to harmonious development and has received a lot of positive response across the social spectrum. Besides creating a lot of debate in the mass media, Karnataka is all set to witnessed a new phenomenon yesterday at Mysore.
Shree Basavamurthi Madhara Chennaiya Swamijee of Chitradurga– who represents Madiga community (considered to be among the lower stratas of the society) – is went on a “Padayatra” in the Brahmins’ locality with a noble intention to create harmony in the society. Harmony should prevail from a multi-dimensional angle, the Seer observed.

RSS leaders of Karnataka extended full co-operation during the padayathra. Samarasya Vedike had lent its full support to the Pejavar seer’s visit to Dalit colony. The Vedike is also fully behind Shree Basavamurti in his effort to create an harmonious society. The office-bearers of Samarasya Vedike have spoken to both the Seers with a view to create a better understanding between the various stratas of the society.

The Madiga Community seer’s visit to Brahmin locality in Mysore is indeed a historic development.The Brahmins of that area decorated their streets with flowers and colours to welcome the Seer in his historic visit.
The Seer will reach Mysore Monday night by 8.00pm and stayed and performed Puja and related religious rituals in a Brahmin family in Krishnamoorthy Puram as previously organized.

At 8.00AM Shree Basavamurthi Madhara Chennaiya Swamijee was welcomed by residents of Krishnamoorthypuram at 6th cross railway gate. Then The Seer went Padayathra in Brahmin locality there. The Seer later participated in a conference about Social Hormony at Sri Ramamandir at Krishnamoorthypuram in which he addressed a select audience. Several leaders of Brahmin Community, other societies were participatd.
Later The Seer visitedRSS Mysore zonal headquarters ‘Madhavakrupa’ at Jhansi Lakshmi Bhai (JLB) road. There he discussed with leaders of RSS ,office bearers of Samarasya Vedike and related leaders of society.

Maadara Channaiah Swamiji of Maadiga Gurupeetha in Chitradurga was accorded a warm welcome at Krishna Dhama –– where Pejawar Seer Vishwesha Teertha is staying currently as part of his Chaturmasya celebrations –– and also at Krishnamurthypuram, where he undertook a padayatra and visited some families.
Following a padayatra by Pejawar seer to the Dalit colonies in the city, Maadaara Channaiah Swamiji had offered to go on a padayatra into Brahmin colonies as part of his attempt to steer the social change further.
He arrived in the city on Tuesday night and stayed as a guest at the residence of a Brahmin family. Next morning, before setting off on the padayatra, he came to Krishna Dhama and met the Pejawar Seer.
During the interaction, Pejawar seer stressed on the fact that Dalits were indeed part of Hindu religion and had to stay as members of the faith and Maadara Channaiah Swamiji said Dalits had bigger issues such as dignity, discrimination, hunger and livelihood as their priority and hence, conversion was something that was not of immediate importance.
Minister Suresh Kumar joined the padayatra for a brief while at 8 am when it began.
Post-padayatra, the Maadara seer along with Pejawar seer addressed the gathering at Rama Mandira and said he was happy with the enthusiasm among people to bring about the social shift. |

MYSORE: As a response to the “social initiative” taken out by the Pejawar Mutt seer Vishvesha Theertha swamiji to eradicate untouchability by visiting the Dalit colonies in Mysore, Basavamurthi Madara Channiah swamiji of Madiga community Gurupeetha conducted the “Samarasya Sadbhavana Nadige” in Krishnamurthypuram, here on Wednesday.
When the padayatra led by Basavananda swamiji entered the Brahmin-dominated Krishnamurthypuram in Mysore, the mood was upbeat. Having arrived straight after meeting the Pejawar mutt seer at Krishnadhama, the padayatris were given a warm welcome by the residents of the area. The roads were washed clean and decorated with “rangolis”.
The seer was accorded the traditional ritualistic welcome by district in-charge Minister S. Suresh Kumar, MLA S.A. Ramadas, G. Madhusudhan and C.H. Vijayashankar, MLCs, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) southern region convener Venkataram and members of the Brahmin community.A group of women performed the padapooja of the seer. The sixth cross of Krishnamurthypuram was decorated with saffron flags and buntings.
He was offered garlands by many residents. The seer visited houses of several Brahmin families in the locality.When he had arrived in the city last evening, the seer was given a warm welcome at the house of Narayan, a resident of Vidyaranyapuram and offered a “padapuja”.The padayatra indicated a healthy standoff between the Pejawar seer and Basavananda seer. Earlier, the Pejawar swamiji was given a rousing welcome by the pourakarmika Dalits.
At this some of the Dalit leaders had expressed doubts whether a similar treatment would be given to the Dalit swamiji.But all such doubts were doused as Basavananda swamiji was given an apt welcome by the Brahmin community.Sri Basavananda seer addressed a public meeting on the Ram Mandir premises near K.G. Koppal Bridge in Krishnamurthypuram that was attended by the Pejawar seer, Bhashyam swamiji and Ilai Alwar swamiji.

During the interaction, Pejawar seer stressed on the fact that Dalits were indeed part of Hindu religion and had to stay as members of the faith and Maadara Channaiah Swamiji said Dalits had bigger issues such as dignity, discrimination, hunger and livelihood as their priority and hence, conversion was something that was not of immediate importance.
Minister Suresh Kumar joined the padayatra for a brief while at 8 am when it began.

MYSORE: As a response to the “social initiative” taken out by the Pejawar Mutt seer Vishvesha Theertha swamiji to eradicate untouchability by visiting the Dalit colonies in Mysore, Basavamurthi Madara Channiah swamiji of Madiga community Gurupeetha conducted the “Samarasya Sadbhavana Nadige” in Krishnamurthypuram, here on Wednesday.
When the padayatra led by Basavananda swamiji entered the Brahmin-dominated Krishnamurthypuram in Mysore, the mood was upbeat. Having arrived straight after meeting the Pejawar mutt seer at Krishnadhama, the padayatris were given a warm welcome by the residents of the area. The roads were washed clean and decorated with “rangolis”.
The seer was accorded the traditional ritualistic welcome by district in-charge Minister S. Suresh Kumar, MLA S.A. Ramadas, G. Madhusudhan and C.H. Vijayashankar, MLCs, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) southern region convener Venkataram and members of the Brahmin community.A group of women performed the padapooja of the seer. The sixth cross of Krishnamurthypuram was decorated with saffron flags and buntings.
He was offered garlands by many residents. The seer visited houses of several Brahmin families in the locality.When he had arrived in the city last evening, the seer was given a warm welcome at the house of Narayan, a resident of Vidyaranyapuram and offered a “padapuja”.The padayatra indicated a healthy standoff between the Pejawar seer and Basavananda seer. Earlier, the Pejawar swamiji was given a rousing welcome by the pourakarmika Dalits.
At this some of the Dalit leaders had expressed doubts whether a similar treatment would be given to the Dalit swamiji.But all such doubts were doused as Basavananda swamiji was given an apt welcome by the Brahmin community.Sri Basavananda seer addressed a public meeting on the Ram Mandir premises near K.G. Koppal Bridge in Krishnamurthypuram that was attended by the Pejawar seer, Bhashyam swamiji and Ilai Alwar swamiji.

For Muslims, he said, an unfavourable judgement would be like a double-edged sword as it could be seen as accepting defeat again and again.
"It's the time to show that Muslims are part of India and change their psyche of fear. Me and my research students surveyed 12 Indian cities and most of Muslims there see demolition of Babri Masjid as a turning point," said Jaffrelot, speaking at the launch of his book, " Religion, Caste and Politics in India".
He said Rajiv Gandhi was indirectly responsible for demolition of Babri Masjid as he tried to play one community against the other.
"From Shah Bano case to opening up of the Masjid on VHP's request to launching his election campaign from Faizabad calling it Ram's land, he was playing Hindus against Muslims and vice-versa," he said.
He, however, refused to accept that BJP is a spent force and saw Bihar elections as a litmus test for the party.
"You cannot reduce BJP to anti-minority agenda only. They have other cards up their sleeve. It may come to power not because it will do something but because Congress will fail to do things. UPA Government is divided and paralytic at the moment and a strong PM is absent to manage the team," said Jaffrelot.
He opined that Rahul Gandhi becoming PM in the future depends on whether UPA comes to power again. "Congress needs a Gandhi. Sans a Gandhi, it is faction ridden. Sharad Pawar, Mamata Banerjee moved out when there was no Gandhi around. No doubt Congress will promote Rahul for next PM's job," he said.
When asked about Narender Modi's chances to be the PM, Jaffrelot said it can happen only by default.
"You cannot make allies with too much of extreme agenda. Modi can be a strong leader but in that case, BJP will run out of allies. As long as RSS has a say in appointing BJP President, Modi has no chance," he said.
His book explores the transformation of the Nehruvian approach, since the 1980s resting upon three pillars - secularism and democracy in the political domain, state intervention in economy and policy of non-alignment.

Ahead of the court verdict on Ayodhya dispute, a French writer on India says it would be a moment of reckoning and an opportunity for Indian leadership to bring Muslims back into mainstream.
"September 24 would be the next turning point in India's history. I hope the judges are aware of it. There should be efforts for reconciliation and the initiative should come from the Hindutva forces. Triumphant attitude on their part would invite trouble," said Dr Christophe Jaffrelot, who teaches South Asian Politics and History at Sciences Po in Paris.
The author said the saffron brigade will have to think twice before relaunching the tirade against Muslims as the middle class has taken a stand against it in 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

He opined that Rahul Gandhi becoming PM in the future depends on whether UPA comes to power again. "Congress needs a Gandhi. Sans a Gandhi, it is faction ridden. Sharad Pawar, Mamata Banerjee moved out when there was no Gandhi around. No doubt Congress will promote Rahul for next PM's job," he said.
When asked about Narender Modi's chances to be the PM, Jaffrelot said it can happen only by default.
"You cannot make allies with too much of extreme agenda. Modi can be a strong leader but in that case, BJP will run out of allies. As long as RSS has a say in appointing BJP President, Modi has no chance," he said.

Babri verdict: Government appeals for calm
NEW DELHI: Wary of extreme reactions to the Allahabad High Court judgement on Ayodhya dispute expected on September 24, the government on Thursday appealed for peace, saying the judicial recourse will not end till all sections are satisfied and further legal remedies would be available.
NEW DELHI: Fearing trouble over the upcoming judgment by the Allahabad High Court on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit, the government on Thursday appealed to the people to maintain equanimity and tranquility following the verdict, which is expected on September 24.
A resolution passed by the Union Cabinet said the judgment needed to be treated with utmost respect and called upon people to remember that the high court verdict would be only a step in the judicial process.
"The determination of the issues need not necessarily end with this judgment unless it is accepted by all parties. In case any of the parties feels that further judicial consideration is required, there are legal remedies available which could be resorted to," the resolution said.
Meanwhile, Union home ministry has asked CRPF to send its 40 companies (over 4,000 personnel) to Uttar Pradesh in view of the state's demand of central forces to meet law and order situation there in the wake of the verdict.
Though the Centre will not be able to meet even one-fourth of the UP's demand of 630 companies (over 63,000 personnel) for the purpose, it has asked CRPF and other paramilitary forces -- SSB, BSF and Rapid Action Force (RAF) - to spare as many companies as possible by September 21.
"A first batch of 10 out of 40 companies is currently being deployed in the state. More central forces will be sent to UP next week. Besides, we will have to keep forces in standby for other states as well, if situation warrants for its deployment after the court's verdict," said a senior official.
It is learnt that UP has decided to deploy minimum three companies each of central forces at all the sensitive locations across the state this week. The state armed police will also be deployed at all such locations to help local police in maintaining law and order situation. More forces will be sent to these places once the state gets additional personnel from the Centre.
The issue was discussed at the Union Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and it passed a resolution, appealing for peace after the delivery of the judgement.
"It goes without saying that the judgement needs to be treated with the utmost respect," said the resolution passed by the Cabinet and read out by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni to the media.
"At the same time, we must remember the fact that the judgement, at this state, is one step in the judicial process. The determination of the issues need not necessarily end with this judgement unless it is accepted by all parties," it said.
The government said "in case any of the parties feels that further judicial consideration is required, there are legal remedies available which could be resorted to."
Keeping this in mind, the government said it is necessary for all sections of the people of India to maintain equanimity and tranquility in the aftermath of the judgement."
The resolution was passed against the backdrop of worries in the government that there could be a communal flare-up in the event of the High Court verdict on Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit going either way.
The Prime Minister recently held a meeting with senior Cabinet colleagues on the issue.
"There should be no attempt whatsoever made by any section of the people to provoke any other section or to indulge in any expression of emotion that would hurt the feelings of other people," the Cabinet resolution said
EXTRA SECURITY:
NEW DELHI: The Centre will next week take a call on Uttar Pradesh's demand of deploying over 63,000 central paramilitary personnel for stepping up security in the state in view of the court verdict on Ayodhya title suits, which is to be pronounced on September 24.
Government sources here said though the home ministry would try to send as many paramilitary personnel to the state as possible before September 24, it does not appear at this juncture that the Centre would be able to send as many as 630 companies (over 63,000 personnel) demanded by the UP government.
"The final decision on this front will be taken by Wednesday. The ministry will have to factor in demands of paramilitary personnel elsewhere as well before taking any decision," said a senior official.

New Delhi: The Centre on Thursday appealed for calm ahead of the verdict in the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit dispute. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni asked the disputing parties to respect the judgement in the case.
"The Ayodhya verdict should be respected by all. The issue cannot be resolved unless all parties accept the verdict. The Government appeals to all sections of society to maintain peace and calm. People should look at this verdict as a decision by the court," said Soni in New Delhi on Thursday.
"The judgement is the outcome of a long judicial process. It should be treated with utmost respect. The judgement is one step ahead in the judicial process. In case any of parties feel further judicial consideration is required, further legal remedies are available. There should not be any attempt by people to provoke anyone. India is firmly on the path on inclusive growth. This is recognised by the world. We should not do anything to disrespect this," she said.
Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband also appealed to people to respect the verdict of the High Court on the Ayodhya title suit.
"We have full confidence in the judicial system of the country. We appeal to people to respect the verdict of the Court and maintain peace and communal harmony in the country," Seminary's deputy vice-chancellor Maulana Abdul Khalique Madrasi said.Supporting the view of Deoband, Uttar Pradesh Imams' Organisation President Mufti Zulfikar Ali said, "We should respect the verdict and if any party is not satisfied with the judgement it could appeal to the Supreme Court."The verdict in the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute will be announced at 3:30 pm on September 24 by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court. The Lucknow bench will deliver the judgement on the title suit and decide who owns the 2.77 acres of disputed land on which Babri Masjid stood.
A three-member bench comprising of Justice SU Khan, Justice Sudhir Agarwal and Justice DV Sharma has asked all the concerned parties to be present before the court on September 24.

NEW DELHI: Wary of extreme reactions to the Allahabad High Court judgement on Ayodhya dispute expected on September 24, the government on Thursday appealed for peace, saying the judicial recourse will not end till all sections are satisfied and further legal remedies would be available.
NEW DELHI: Fearing trouble over the upcoming judgment by the Allahabad High Court on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit, the government on Thursday appealed to the people to maintain equanimity and tranquility following the verdict, which is expected on September 24.
A resolution passed by the Union Cabinet said the judgment needed to be treated with utmost respect and called upon people to remember that the high court verdict would be only a step in the judicial process.
"The determination of the issues need not necessarily end with this judgment unless it is accepted by all parties. In case any of the parties feels that further judicial consideration is required, there are legal remedies available which could be resorted to," the resolution said.
Meanwhile, Union home ministry has asked CRPF to send its 40 companies (over 4,000 personnel) to Uttar Pradesh in view of the state's demand of central forces to meet law and order situation there in the wake of the verdict.
Though the Centre will not be able to meet even one-fourth of the UP's demand of 630 companies (over 63,000 personnel) for the purpose, it has asked CRPF and other paramilitary forces -- SSB, BSF and Rapid Action Force (RAF) - to spare as many companies as possible by September 21.
"A first batch of 10 out of 40 companies is currently being deployed in the state. More central forces will be sent to UP next week. Besides, we will have to keep forces in standby for other states as well, if situation warrants for its deployment after the court's verdict," said a senior official.
It is learnt that UP has decided to deploy minimum three companies each of central forces at all the sensitive locations across the state this week. The state armed police will also be deployed at all such locations to help local police in maintaining law and order situation. More forces will be sent to these places once the state gets additional personnel from the Centre.
The issue was discussed at the Union Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and it passed a resolution, appealing for peace after the delivery of the judgement.
"It goes without saying that the judgement needs to be treated with the utmost respect," said the resolution passed by the Cabinet and read out by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni to the media.

NEW DELHI: The Centre will next week take a call on Uttar Pradesh's demand of deploying over 63,000 central paramilitary personnel for stepping up security in the state in view of the court verdict on Ayodhya title suits, which is to be pronounced on September 24.
Government sources here said though the home ministry would try to send as many paramilitary personnel to the state as possible before September 24, it does not appear at this juncture that the Centre would be able to send as many as 630 companies (over 63,000 personnel) demanded by the UP government.
"The final decision on this front will be taken by Wednesday. The ministry will have to factor in demands of paramilitary personnel elsewhere as well before taking any decision," said a senior official.

New Delhi: The Centre on Thursday appealed for calm ahead of the verdict in the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit dispute. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni asked the disputing parties to respect the judgement in the case.
"The Ayodhya verdict should be respected by all. The issue cannot be resolved unless all parties accept the verdict. The Government appeals to all sections of society to maintain peace and calm. People should look at this verdict as a decision by the court," said Soni in New Delhi on Thursday.
"The judgement is the outcome of a long judicial process. It should be treated with utmost respect. The judgement is one step ahead in the judicial process. In case any of parties feel further judicial consideration is required, further legal remedies are available. There should not be any attempt by people to provoke anyone. India is firmly on the path on inclusive growth. This is recognised by the world. We should not do anything to disrespect this," she said.
Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband also appealed to people to respect the verdict of the High Court on the Ayodhya title suit.
"We have full confidence in the judicial system of the country. We appeal to people to respect the verdict of the Court and maintain peace and communal harmony in the country," Seminary's deputy vice-chancellor Maulana Abdul Khalique Madrasi said.Supporting the view of Deoband, Uttar Pradesh Imams' Organisation President Mufti Zulfikar Ali said, "We should respect the verdict and if any party is not satisfied with the judgement it could appeal to the Supreme Court."The verdict in the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute will be announced at 3:30 pm on September 24 by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court. The Lucknow bench will deliver the judgement on the title suit and decide who owns the 2.77 acres of disputed land on which Babri Masjid stood.
A three-member bench comprising of Justice SU Khan, Justice Sudhir Agarwal and Justice DV Sharma has asked all the concerned parties to be present before the court on September 24.

CHENNAI: A three-member crew of a private television channel, comprising reporter Vikram Gopinath, cameraperson Manish Dhanani and an assistant cameraman, were illegally detained at the Archbishop’s house in Santhome for more than two hours on Wednesday when they had gone to gather news .
They were later rescued after the police interfered and brought the issue to the notice of senior police officials. Vikram Gopinath has filed a complaint against illegal detention at Mylapore police station.
Vikram and his team had visited the Archbishop Chinnapa’s residence to gather news on a case filed in the Madras High Court in 2006 in which the archbishop is a witness.
As the bishop refused to be present in the court, an advocate commissioner was sent to the bishop’s residence.
The TV crew went to meet the advocate commissioner. But the advocate commissioner and a few staff at archbishop’s house locked the gates and did not allow them to leave the spot.
“Based on advocate commissioner’s phone call, Inspector Appadurai arrived at the spot and ganged up against us. They also used foul language at us’’, the TV channel reporter said.
Later presspersons assembled outside the locked gates of archbishop’s residence. Additional Commissioner of Police Shakeel Akther and his team of senior police officers rushed to the spot following which the TV crew was released. “We are conducting preliminary investigations based on the video footage obtained from the spot as the journalists couldn’t identify their attackers”, Shakeel Akther told Express.
Later Archbishop Chinnapa conveyed his apologies to the TV crew members. Madras Union of Journalists has strongly condemned the incident. The Archbishop could not be reached for a comment.

Deganga is a small market town in the district of North 24-Parganas in
West Bengal, situated on the highway between the district HQ of
Barasat and the subdivisional town of Basirhat, some 50 kilometres
from Kolkata. On 6th September evening after Iftar, Muslims assembled
in the Deganga Mosque (Basirhat Subdivision, North 24 Parganas) and
proceeded to a number of Hindu areas, looted and ransacked many Hindu
shops and Hindu temples, severely beat up many Hindus, torched 4
public buses. The life of the whole stretch from Berachapa to
Kadamgachi has been frozen.
Shani Temple of Kartickpur and Kali Temple of Deganga Biplabi Colony
desecrated and ransacked by the rioting Muslims.
Arup Ghosh, Officer in Charge of Deganga police station is seriously
injured by the rampaging Muslims. His head and hand have been
fractured. Several other policemen also injured. Police had to fire to
control the Muslim mob, but with no effect.
On 6th Sept at 11 am, the dispute started when some fanatic Muslims
started to dig the passage of a Durga Temple in Chattal Pally village
which is situated just beside the Deganga Police Station. This Durga
Temple is at least 25 year old. In past, Muslims tried many times to
stop the Durgapuja. Hindus resisted their ill effort. This Chattal
Pally and Deganga P.S. come under the district of North 24 Parganas,
and its Parliamentary constituency is Basirhat. In 2009 election, Hazi
Nurul Islam of Trinamool Congress won this constituency defeating long
time Communist M.P. Ajay Chakraborty (C.P.I). After this change of
power, Hindus of the whole area are facing all types of threat,
humiliation, torture and their religious practices are in danger.
When Hindus objected the digging of the Temple passage, Muslims
gathered there in large number and started mayhem. Hindus informed the
police. Police came and they had to face the jihadi enthusiasm of the
Muslims. Officer in Charge injured at that time. Then Muslims
threatened that now Roja is going on. After the end of Roja and taking
Iftar, they will teach stern lesson to the Hindus. So, after
afternoon, Hindus dared not to open their shops on the stretch between
Berachapa to Kadamgachhi on the Barasat – Basirhat Road. By this time,
large contingent of police and RAF took position. Defying their
presence, Muslims gathered in large number in the Deganga Mosque and
started looting and destroying the Hindu shops, not in Chattal Pally,
but in the big markets of Beliaghata, Deganga and Kartickpur. A big
shop of Anil Bangal, a Hindu, has been looted fully among many other
shops. Anil Bangal has been seriously injured. More than 25 people
have been injured.
Latest position is that Police is not allowing the Hindus to come out
of their homes so that they can enquire the damage done by the Muslims
and Muslims are roaming freely in front of police force. Overall
situation has been worsened. It is alleged that Maqbur Rehman, Mintu
Sahaji led the Muslim rioters. It is also alleged that one TMC Hindu
leader Ms. Ratna Chowdhury is trying to pressurize police not to take
strong steps to stop the Muslim rampaging mob. The new TMC M.P. Hazi
Nurul Islam allegedly influenced the police to remain inactive.
The Muslims are majority in number in the Deganga Block as well as in
Basirhat Sub division of North 24 Parganas district. According to 2001
Census report, Muslims were 69.51 percent in Deganga Block. Naturally
after nine years, their percentage increased a lot and Hindus in that
Block are living a life almost like Pakistan. This North 24 Parganas
district, is the largest border district where the highest number of
Hindu refugees took shelter after being persecuted in erstwhile East
Pakistan and present Bangladesh. In spite of that, the eight Blocks
among total 29 of this districts became Muslim majority blocks in 2001
census.
Today’s violence in Deganga has been reported only in the NE Bangla
channel of electronic media of West Bengal. All other channels
including Star Ananda, as always they do, are mum and suppressing the
misdeeds of the fanatic Muslims.

Expressing concerns over increasing number of farmers’ suicide cases in the State, the BJP Krushak Morcha (BJKM) on Saturday alleged that it all happened due to wrong agriculture policy of the Centre and State Government. It demanded that both the Governments should make a comprehensive policy for agriculture in which the farmers would be secured with their lands and remunerative support prices of their produce.
The BJKM also came down heavily on the massive land acquisition for the private companies and announced that it would launch a nationwide agitation from October 11, the birth anniversary of Jayaprakash Narayan to demand passing of the Land Acquisition Bill (LAB), 2007 in the Winter Session of the Parliament.
Addressing a Press conference, National president of BJKM Om Prakash Dhanked rued that while businessmen, service holders and industrialists are economically growing, farmers — the largest group solely dependent on agriculture in the country — are continuously suffering.
Maintaining that the minimum support prices (MSP) are not the remedy to stop distress sale, rampant in Odisha, he said that making provision for remunerative price is the only way out overcome the problem. He suggested that 100 per cent profit should be paid to the farmers. “100 per cent of cost of production should be given to farmers as profit,” he maintained.
Dhanked alleged that the mandis have been instruments of tyranny for the farmers in the State. “Farmers are facing problems in getting their due prices in Mandis. BJKM has decided to have a mandi darshan programme in the State in which national and State level leaders will take part,” he said, adding that two committees have been formed by the BJKM to examine under what circumstances the farmers are committing suicide and to see what steps the State Government is taking to tackle drought situation in the wake of low rainfall in 15 districts.
Ruing that the State Government is resorting to massive land acquisition for the industries, he demanded that the companies should take lands on lease basis and the land owners should have shares in the profit of the company.
He demanded that the Land Acquisition Bill, 2007 be passed in the Winter Session of Parliament.

BHUBANESWAR- (VISAKEO)-A book containing the Odiya translation and detailed commentary on Jayadeva’s original Sanskrit work Gita Govinda was released at the IDCOL Auditorium on Thursday.
The book is authored by the late Susil Kumar Das of Srimad Bhagabata fame and has been brought out by a city-based publishing firm Avahana Communications.
Member of Parliament Pyari Mohan Mahapatra, and eminent poet and litterateur Hara Prasad Das graced the ceremony as the chief guest and the chief speaker respectively, while Member of Parliament Prasanna Patshani and the State Election Commissioner Ajit Kumar Tripathy, a well known scholar on Jayadeva, were present as the guests of honour.
Earlier, in eighties, the State Sahitya Academy had published the late author’s similar work on Vyasadeva’s Srimad Bhagatabatam in sixteen volumes. Besides this, the late author is credited with several published works in Odiya religious literature like, Bishnusahasranama, Atmaramaschamunayah, Satasloki Ramayana, Gopi Gita among others. Some of his other works like the complete Odiya translation and commentary on Valmiki Ramayana, Rudra Gita, Rasa Panchadhyayee, etc are awaiting publication.

Member of Parliament Pyari Mohan Mahapatra, and eminent poet and litterateur Hara Prasad Das graced the ceremony as the chief guest and the chief speaker respectively, while Member of Parliament Prasanna Patshani and the State Election Commissioner Ajit Kumar Tripathy, a well known scholar on Jayadeva, were present as the guests of honour.
Earlier, in eighties, the State Sahitya Academy had published the late author’s similar work on Vyasadeva’s Srimad Bhagatabatam in sixteen volumes. Besides this, the late author is credited with several published works in Odiya religious literature like, Bishnusahasranama, Atmaramaschamunayah, Satasloki Ramayana, Gopi Gita among others. Some of his other works like the complete Odiya translation and commentary on Valmiki Ramayana, Rudra Gita, Rasa Panchadhyayee, etc are awaiting publication.

Seventy children of Tikrapada UGME School dressed as Srikrushna, Radha and Balaram went ina procession with kirtan to the temple from school where a dress competition of said dress was also organized. They were merely welcomed by people at that time. In this function chief coservater of organization explained the significance of Janmastami which is presiding by president of the organization Sri Basudev Meher. Gangasagar Island (West Bengal): As per Hindu belief, you may visit other holy places several times, but you must visit Gangasagar Dham at least once. But the fundamental Muslims of Bengal under different Jehadi organisations now want to capture this Hindu Pilgrimage by a sinister design of uncontrollable growth rate of Muslims in this island along with influx of outsider Muslims in the Gangasagar island with the help of various Muslim Organizations very much active in their area of operation. When the Muslim population of this island reaches 12% in 2001 from a low of 3% in 1951, in the last 3 years it has records of at least 100 registered and other un-recorded cases of harassing the Hindu pilgrims, teasing of Hindu women in their bathing places, dacoity in Hindu villages, attack upon Hindu temples, Communal attack upon Hindu Volunteer groups, ransacking Hindu Ashrams and Institutions, collection of ransom from Hindus by Muslim miscreants and fundamental groups in various occasions .
In the event of Makar Sankraman, last day of Paush month, lakhs of Hindu devotees come to this holy place from every corner of India and abroad to take a holy dip in the confluence of Ganga river and the Bay of Bengal, where 60000 sons of King Sagar once got rebirth with the flow of water of Ganga so navigated by Bhagiratha from Himalaya to the Sagar Sangam (confluence), near tha Ashrama of Kapil Muni. But this Holy Pilgrimage of Ganga Sagar is now under the very threat of Islamic seize, where they want to erect Muslim Mosques, Madrashas, Muslim Rest Houses, Islamic Academies, Islamic Business Houses, Muslim Habitations etc. totally disproportionate to the present ratio of Muslims in this Island. Successfully, the Muslims of Gangasar have captured various places of Hindus and proved their majority and extreme influences to those places, just before complete Islamization of the Gangasagar in near future.
In the month of March this year, Muslims tried to forcibly build a Mosque at the site of the Hindu festival of Durgapuja run by local ‘Ahalya Club’ near Rurdra Nagar Market Place. Hindus protested in large numbers. In retaliation Muslims looted and destroyed the Hindu shops and police ironically arrested the Hindus. Muslims are deliberately trying to create disturbance in this famous Hindu pilgrimage Gangasagar.
Today 1st September thousands of Hindus came to the street near Rudra Nagar and stopped all movements of vehicles in the whole of Sagar island (West Bengal, India) in protest of atrocities on the Hindus by the Islamic fundamentalists, as in the morning Muslims severely beat up Nirmal Mandal, a Hindu at his own house. Mr. Mandal cultivates on a piece of land which he owns by the order of the government court. The puja place of ‘Ahalya Club’ is connected with the land of Nirmal Mandal and Muslims illegally claim this land as their proposed Mosque, where not a single Muslim resides at all in the place of Rudra Nagar. Hence they want to spread a fear psychosis in the Hindus by torturing Nirmal Mandal. The torture upon Mr. Mandal took place at about 7.30 in the morning.
But the Hindus stand united immediately to rescue Mr. Mandal and thrashed the Muslim attackers to flee from the place. But about 1.30 p.m. a gang of 15-20 Muslim armed men with sharp weapons and sacks of bombs reached Rudra Nagar all on a sudden on motorbikes from the direction of Khansabad, a high concentration of notorious Islamists. Immediately they charged three bombs and threatened to vacate the market place, perhaps to loot all the Hindu shops easily.
But, the Hindus there gallantly chased those Muslim armed persons and tried to catch them with their motorbikes. But the police on duty, who reached the spot after bomb-charging, restrained the people to indulge into a direct clash with the Muslim attackers and ultimately the attackers went away.
Getting a clear picture of favourtism by the Police and Administration for the Muslims, the Hindus from nearby thronged in thousands to Rudra Nagar and blocked all the conveyances and gheraoed the Police contingent present there as a mark of protest. Every Hindus with a large number of Hindu women came to road with possible type of object to teach a pungent lesson to the Muslim who ever cross the spot. This affected the hole island and jeopardized the normal life up to 6.30 in the evening, when a negotiation held between the protesters and the administration.
The main and central place of Gangasagar island is Rudranagar. There is a club named ‘Ahalya Club’. Just beside the club, annual Durga Puja (a Hindu religious festival) is held every year. Near that spot, Muslims from a far-off locality are forcibly offering Namaz (Muslim prayer) every evening during this Ramzan month (This is a well-repeated tactic of scaring the Hindus and taking away their worship areas through out West Bengal and Bangladesh). In spite of several complaints by the Hindus, he police have taken absolutely no action on this issue. The reason is because an extremely corrupt and inefficient Sub Divisional Police Officer Mr. Jayanta Banerjee is still in charge of the Kakdwip sub division of South 24 Pargana district, under which the Gangasagar island comes. Mr Banerjee is also known to be very anti-Hindu.
Local people complain that Muslim leaders and supporters of both the ruling CPIM and opposition party TMC joined hands to achieve this aim. These allegedly communal attackers from Khansabad are Seikh Saiful (S/O. Rahaman), Seikh Fareed (S/O. Ashadul), Seikh Mashikul (S/O. Makshed), Seikh Shamsul (S/O. Azabuddin), Seikh Farhad (S/O. Unknown), Seikh Saibul (S/O. Unknown) and others. Seikh Shamsul is the leader of this gang who has various criminal records and close connection with two most communal leaders of this island viz. Seikh Ismail of CPIM and Abdul Kahar of TMC Minority Cell. Sk. Ismail and Abdul Kahar have joined their dirty hands well before to islamize the Sagar island as a part of Pan Islamic design.
Hindus of the island could not tolerate the communal misdeeds of Muslims. So, today they blocked the main road of the island and protested. At 6 pm the corrupt and infamous SDPO Jayanta Banerjee and other senior officers came and assured the Hindus that they will arrest the Muslim culprits. Then the road block lifted. But it is difficult to believe that under political pressure and under the influence of bribe, police will do justice to the Hindus.
In Sagar police station, the Officer in Charge is Mr. Anirban Bhattacharya. A persecuted Mr. Nirmal Mandal put a diary ( G.D. No. Sagar P.S. 28 dt. 01.01.2010) against the Islamic torture upon him. Police imposed Sec. 144 in the 200 meters areas of “‘Ahalya Club”’, so that no illegal Namaj can be offered by the outsiders upon a disputed land in a Hindu Majority area. However, the Hindus of the area have erected a “Tulshi Mancha” and planted a sibling of holy basil there on the very spot of offering illegal Namaz.
As the issue of Islamization of Ganga Sagar is becoming critical for the Hindus and obviously for their future day by day, Hindu Existence Forum hereby requests the Shakaracharya of Govardhanpeetham His Holiness P.P. Swami Nischalananda Swaraswati (Gangasagar Dham comes under his holiness jurisdiction), Pujya Swami Pradiptanadaji Maharaj of Bharat Sevashram Sangah (His Gangasagar Branch of BSS was attacked by Muslims for several times) and Sri Tapan kumar Ghosh, President of Hindu Samhati (The first training camp of Hindu Samhati at Gangasagar was vandalized by the Islamist some years back) to take joint effort to save the Hindus of Gangasagar at any cost. Gangasagar is strategically important as it comes under the Sundearban delta areas and nearer to Islamic Bangladesh coastal border.

Phulbani:(visakeo)- VHP celebrated second death anniversary of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati in Sanskruti bhaban here. In this ceremony district VHP president Sri Priyanath Sharma, district and town BJP secretary Sri Bhagaban mohanty and Sri Naresh mohanty respectively, K Venkat Subuddhi and Dutikrushna Sahu pay tribute to Swamiji with memorizing his dedicated life.
Sri Priyanath Sharma told in a press meet that “Government has been failed to nab the murderer and conspirator of the murder of Swami Laxmananda till now. Where as Government has been giving more importance to nun rape case.” He also added that “Vigilance DSP Sri A.K Ray at that time disclosed that there are three parties in murder and riot to the media by inspecting the riot situation, out of them one party was giving money, one party was conspiring and another party was murdering. For this statement he was also ransacked from his post.”
BJP district secretary Sri Bhagaban Mohanty claimed that “after arrested nine people in Swamiji murder case Government has been sitting silently. There is no justice for Hindus in the district. In Gadapur, Brahmanigaon and Barkhama riot affected Hindu people have not been given relief also.” He further added “a Hindu man was murdered in Brahmanigaon two months ago but police could not arrest any one. After publishing this in media police simply lodge an FIR. If police enhancing this type communal conflict than it is not impossible that riot will come back.”
Phulbani:(visakeo)- VHP celebrated second death anniversary of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati in Sanskruti bhaban here. In this ceremony district VHP president Sri Priyanath Sharma, district and town BJP secretary Sri Bhagaban mohanty and Sri Naresh mohanty respectively, K Venkat Subuddhi and Dutikrushna Sahu pay tribute to Swamiji with memorizing his dedicated life.
Sri Priyanath Sharma told in a press meet that “Government has been failed to nab the murderer and conspirator of the murder of Swami Laxmananda till now. Where as Government has been giving more importance to nun rape case.” He also added that “Vigilance DSP Sri A.K Ray at that time disclosed that there are three parties in murder and riot to the media by inspecting the riot situation, out of them one party was giving money, one party was conspiring and another party was murdering. For this statement he was also ransacked from his post.”
BJP district secretary Sri Bhagaban Mohanty claimed that “after arrested nine people in Swamiji murder case Government has been sitting silently. There is no justice for Hindus in the district. In Gadapur, Brahmanigaon and Barkhama riot affected Hindu people have not been given relief also.” He further added “a Hindu man was murdered in Brahmanigaon two months ago but police could not arrest any one. After publishing this in media police simply lodge an FIR. If police enhancing this type communal conflict than it is not impossible that riot will come back.”

Zakia Soman is a founder member of Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan, a community platform with over 20,000 members. The andolan recently completed a survey on the aspirations of Muslim women with the support of ActionAid. Soman spoke to Humra Quraishi :
Why did you undertake this study?
We have felt for a long time that Muslim girls are neglected and their voices, opinions and needs overlooked. Their families give them least priority and the state acts as if they don't exist. Educated and empowered young women can play a key role in transforming the community. It is the most promising and the most deserving section of our society, which needs to be heard.
But is that not true for women in general?
Women everywhere are marginalised. But some women such as Dalit women or Muslim women or other backward women are more marginalised. They bear the brunt of poverty as well as gender discrimination plus discrimination based on religion within and outside their homes. Lot of them suffer injustices such as divorce and abuse at home because of the way Muslim personal law is practised in India, which is in an arbitrary and patriarchal manner.
There is need for codification of personal law. Women also suffer because they belong to a community which is getting increasingly poor and which has been stereotyped particularly after 9/11. They suffer at the hands of communal politics and during communal violence. They bear the brunt of patriarchy more than other women under these circumstances.
We talked to over 2,000 young women in cities and villages in 13 states including Bihar, UP, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. These were women mainly from poor or lower middle-class backgrounds.
What does the study suggest in terms of their aspirations?
In spite of poverty and marginalisation, young Muslim women have not ceased to dream. It is amazing just how many young girls want to become doctors, teachers, businesswomen and even airline pilots while for many paying school fees is a challenge. And yet, we hear this again and again: I want to study, i want to become economically independent, i want to help my family, which is very optimistic and reassuring. There is hope for change when there is so much desire for change. The government and the civil society must provide an enabling climate for these women.
What do they expect from their own community leaders?
The girls want to be allowed to study, to work, to go out and explore the world. They want their voices to be heard. They do not want to be confined by any boundaries. They feel they are responsible individuals and resist being controlled and curbed just because they are girls. They see no clash in being a Muslim girl and yet being educated and empowered. They expect community leaders to understand this.
A lot of young Muslim women wear the hijab. How do they look at the debate over hijab?
They feel wearing or not wearing the hijab is not so important as the right to be educated, to move around, to find jobs. What is more important is how you behave, how responsibly you conduct yourself rather than just an outward garment. Many women also feel it is not for the government to decide who should wear what. It is the choice of the woman as to what she wants to wear.

Reconciliation drive of Labor Commissioner of Tripura to settle the ongoing problems between the employees and employers of NE Bangla satellite television channel under North East Multimedia Private Limited at Agartala failed to reach to an amicable settlement. The adamant attitude of the employers representatives lead by Mr. RN Singh denied paying the adequate compensation to the employees payable as per legal provisions. They did not accept the valid entitlements of the employees enshrined in the report prepared by the labor officers after a thorough assessment according to labor act. The commissioner Mr. MK Nath tried to make them understand that the legal provisions are binding upon all and the employees should be given their dues payable under the legal framework.
A tripartite meeting held today at Commissioner’s chamber to discuss the assessment report. The management representatives were Mr. RN Singh(Director), Mr. Sanjib Deb(COB), Prabhakar Awasthi(accountant) and Atanu Ganguly(advocate). The employees were lead by Mr. Prasenjit Chakraborty(Journalist and Secretary SAVE NORTH EAST) and Sanjib Das(Cameraman).
Mr. Singh told that as they closed the office at Agartala on February 25, 2010 so they will give salary up to that day and one months notice pay in addition.
Short recital of the case in memorandum of settlement signed by both the parties said, “The employer has agreed to pay only one month’s notice pay. Other compensation as per provision of law payable to the employees on retrenchment have not been agreed by the employer for payment.”
On behalf the employees, Prasenjit Chakraborty did not agree with the employers’ opinion and said that no legal activities were done before or after the closure. Therefore, in any case, February 25 can not be treated as cut off date regarding the date of termination of employment. He demanded that laws of land must be respected in all matters.
“The management expressed opinion that the issue may be settled in an appropriate Court of Law”, Short Recital concluded.
Here to be mentioned that Mr. Matang Sinh(former central minister and chairman of North East Multimedia Pvt. Ltd.) locked the Agartala office of NE Bangla TV Channel on February 25 this year without performing any formality under legal provisions through his local representatives. He also withdrew all the equipments from the office secretly in the second part of June. When all the chances of reopening of office faded away, then the employees formed an organization named SAVE NORTH EAST and started movement for justice.

भोपाल। राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ की अखिल भारतीय कार्यकारिणी के सदस्य श्री राम माधव ने कहा है कि हिंदू कभी आतंकवादी नहीं हो सकता और यहां तक कि इस दुनिया में यदि कहीं हिन्दू कट्टरपंथ है तो उसका उद्देश्य भी विश्व में शांति की स्थापना करना ही होगा, एक ऐसी शांति जिसमें आतंकवाद का दूर-दूर तक कहीं कोई नामोनिशान नहीं होगा।
श्री राम माधव बुधवार को ‘स्पंदन’ और मध्य प्रदेश राष्ट्रीय एकता समिति द्वारा शहीद भवन में आयोजित ‘आतंकवाद की राजनीति और मीडिया’ विषयक संगोष्ठी को संबोधित कर रहे थे।
उन्होंने कहा कि वर्तमान में भारतीय समाज आतंकवाद से लड़ाई की निर्णायक राह तलाश रहा है। इसी संदर्भ में कुछ लोगों ने भटक कर गलती कर दी। इसी वजह से गृह मंत्री श्री पी. चिदंबरम जी को ‘भगवा आतंकवाद’ शब्द गढ़ने का मौका मिल गया।
राम माधव ने कहा- ‘वर्तमान केन्द्र सरकार ने कई आतंकवादी घटनाओं पर कोई कार्रवाई नहीं की जबकि अजमेर शरीफ की घटना को लेकर भगवा आतंकवाद का शब्द जाल रच दिया गया।’
उन्होंने कहा कि हिन्दू आतंकवाद की घटनाओं से त्रस्त है और अगर इस धर्म के लोग आतंकवाद में आ रहे हैं तो इसके जवाबदारों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई होनी चाहिए।
श्री राम माधव ने मीडिया को नसीहत भी दी और कहा कि उसे हर मसले को राजनीतिक दृष्टि से नहीं देखना चाहिए। मीडिया को अपनी आजादी का उपयोग जिम्मेदारी के साथ करना चाहिए।
कार्यक्रम के अध्यक्ष श्री महेश जोशी ने राम माधव के विचारों का पूर्ण-रूपेण समर्थन किया और कहा कि हिन्दू इसलिए कभी आतंकवादी नहीं हो सकता क्योंकि हमारे यहां जीव हत्या को पाप माना गया है। हमारे घरों की माताएं-बहनें हमें कीड़े तक नहीं मारने देतीं, ऐसी शिक्षा के बाद हम किसी की जान कैसे ले सकते हैं।

In every district and block headquarter ‘Dharmarakshya divas’ was celebrated in the memory of slain Swamiji in same day. Swamiji was brutally murdered at their Jalespata ashram in the night of 2008 Janmastami. In Bhadrak district also this function organized in Palhat,Tihidi,Chandabali,Manjuri road,khaera,Bankasahi of Bhadrak town,kuansa,baliarda,Sankarpur and Kadambeda by Samiti. District head of Dharma Jagarana Samiti Sri Sankar Das and state level member of Samiti speak about the work of slain Swamiji at Dharmarakshya function in Bankasahi Radhakrushna temple. They said that Swamiji sacrifice his life to protect the Hindu dharma and culture. Jharana Lenka,Bharati Barik, Sarojini Das, Agani Das, Gouri Adhikari, Namitarani Swain of Darmarakshya bahini were presented in this function. Harapriya Senapti, Rajlaxmi Swain, Kabitarani Swain, Santilata Barik, Santilata Swain of Dharmarakshy bahini were presented in Baliarada Radhakrushna temple. BJP PAYS TRIBUTE TO SWAMI LAXMANANDA
BHUBANESWAR(visakeo)- The BJP on Wednesday paid tributes to Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati on his second death anniversary here.
The seer, a prominent member of the VHP, was gunned down by unidentified assailants.
A memorial meeting was organised at the State BJP office here under the chairmanship of Ratikanta Dash, member of the State executive committee.
Addressing the meeting, State BJP president Jual Oram lambasted the State government for its failure to solve the murder mystery of the seer even after two years.
Alleging that the Chief Minister is playing into the hands of missionaries, suspected to be behind the murder of the seer, Oram said the government was deliberately protecting the killers of Lakshmanananda.
“While killers of the VHP leader were moving freely, hundreds of innocent tribals are subjected to police harassment. The Chief Minister has miserably failed to protect the interests of the tribals of Kandhamal under pressure from the missionaries," he alleged.
Former ministers BB Harichandan, Surama Padhi, senior leaders Ramachandra Kar, former MP Archana Nayak, Samir Mohanty, Surama Satpathy, Jayanti Padhiari and Sukeshi Oram recalled the services of seer.

Bhubaneswar(visakeo)-In protest against incapability of State Government to arrest the culprits involved in murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati on Janmastami on August 23 2008, Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) observed silent dharna infront of Raj Bhawan on Wednesday. A memorandum to this effect was also submitted to the Governor.
Media cell visakeo in a release rued that though two years have already passed the State Government has not taken any action against the murderers and conspirators involved in Swamiji’s brutal murder at Jaleshpeta Ashram in 2008. He said killing of Swamiji, who did a lot for the benefit of tribal people on the auspicious occasion of Hindu festival Janmastami was not at all acceptable to the Hindus.
“Protesting the killing, while Viswa Hindu Parishad decided to go for a strike Statewide on August 25 of the same year, Chief Minister had requested not to go for the strike assuring culprits soon be arrested and punished,” he informed, adding that the Government has not taken any drastic steps to nab the culprits.
Among others, general secretary of State unit of Viswa Hindu Parishad Gouri Prasad Rath, Swami Jiban Chaitanya Maharaj, Swamin Pranarupa Nandaji, Durga Prasad Kar, Nagen Kumar Devta, Praffulla Mishra, Prahallad Rout, Pratap Sarangi, Raghunath Pati, Laxmikanta Das and Pramod Dash were present.
Bhubaneswar(visakeo)-In protest against incapability of State Government to arrest the culprits involved in murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati on Janmastami on August 23 2008, Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) observed silent dharna infront of Raj Bhawan on Wednesday. A memorandum to this effect was also submitted to the Governor.
