Bharatiya Kisan Sangh to agitate over Farmers’ Death in Odisha
Addressing press conference here after the meeting, National Secretary of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Mohini Mohan Mishra said that the Naveen government failed in tackling drought situation in the state as many farmers committed suicide despite declaring a drought package. He criticized the government for its assessment and drought package for farmers.
Mishra said that the leaders need to consult with the farmers in order to know the problems and to prepare drought assessment. He urged debt ridden farmers of Odisha not to take such extreme step to end their lives. Instead they can seek help from Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, which has been working since long to protect interest of farmers and fighting for farmers’ rights, he added.
He warned the government over the farmers’ death that the members of the organization will hit roads and start agitation for farmers’ rights. The meeting was attended by State President P.K. Mishra, State General Secretary Janaki Ballav Swain, Executive Member, Narasingha Behera and other members from 25 districts.
