BJP extends support to anti-Posco agitation

The State BJP leaders have extended their support officially to the Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samithi (PPSS) in its struggle against the MNC Posco for establishing the steel plant near Paradip. A team comprising prominent leaders Bimbadhara Kuanar, Jyotish Chandra Das, Nayan Kishore Mohanty, Rudranarayan Pany, Prithviraj Harichandan, Baidhar Mallick and others visited Dhinkia and Govindapur area on Sunday and extended their support to PPSS. After holding discussions with the president of the outfit Abhay Sahu and other members, they severely criticised the State Government for the atrocities on the unarmed innocent villagers who are fighting for their democratic rights in a peaceful manner. They also questioned how thousands of trees were destroyed in the area without taking any approval for cutting of the trees from the Ministry of Forest and Environment.
