CUTTACK: Explosion of a bomb in the vicinity of the crowded Cuttack railway station this morning spread panic waves in the region. The incident coming only five days after the bombing on several small businessmen near the station has only added to the fear. According to reports, the bomb exploded inside an abandoned house very close to the gate no. 1 of the Railway station this morning. The explosion was of low intensity and did not cause any injuries to the passengers or passers-by. But, the explosion sparked off a panic running at the railway station. Police rushed to the spot and found two more unexploded bombs in the house. The bombs, all of crude nature, were apparently hidden inside the structure. The bomb defusing personnel of the police neutralised the two. Miscreants on the night of July 13 had hurled bombs at vendors injuring three. Shop owners Rabindra Nayak, Muktikanta Ray and Dhaneswar Swain were standing near their neighbouring shops when miscreants hurled three bombs in quick succession at them. The attack was attributed to extortion demands but police are yet to nab the miscreants.

BHUBANESWAR: Disaster warning along the Indian coast is all set for a makeover. Just picture a scenario where a tsunami warning is issued through the public address systems minutes after an earthquake strikes.
To make disaster warning effective, and give vulnerable population more time to respond, a public address system-based mechanism would make its mark in 13 states of the country soon as part of the last mile connectivity programme of National Disaster Mitigation Authority (NDMA) which is, currently, devising the system that will be piloted in Orissa and Andhra Pradesh before being extended to other states.
The system will be automatic and run 24x7. Once an alert is issued, the system will disseminate the information and would require no functional operation at any point, said Project Director of National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project Dr GSG Aiyangar.
“We’re looking at different states having different sets of geographical frameworks and needs. What Andaman and Nicober needs would be different from that of Orissa. That’s why we are devising a system that caters to all the states,” he said.
Currently in the State Capital to evaluate the proposed Communication Hubs and Last Mile Connectivity Project by the Orissa State Disaster Mitigation Authority (OSDMA), Aiyangar said, the public address system will complement the existing six-layer communication system in place.
The strategy is to prioritise the vulnerable pockets in three tiers and then install the system accordingly. The NDMA is assessing the gaps to finalise where such systems can be located.
“Natural disasters are getting bigger in magnitude and ferocious by the way. We need multi-layered communication approach to take on the calamities,” Special Relief Commissioner Nikunja Sundaray said.
According to Aiyangar, it was the 1999 Super Cyclone which is the benchmark for the challenge that natural disasters present. “We should be prepared to meet the challenges a calamity of that magnitude throws at us,” he said.
Meanwhile, it is the Communication Hubs and Last Mile Connectivity Project of the OSDMA which has caught the attention of NDMA. The project which looks at converting multi-purpose cyclone shelters into communication hubs may form the base of the model that NDMA is working on.
“We have invited the representatives of all the 13 states next week to finalise the model. The communication strategy would be ready in the next 10 days,” Aiyangar said.

BHUBANESWAR: At Least 132 persons have till now been convicted in different cases related to 2008 communal violence in Kandhamal district, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said today.
While replying a question in the State Assembly, Naveen said 38 persons were killed in the communal violence. On the involvement of any particular person or organisation, Naveen, who is also in charge of the Home Department, said 24 activists belonging to Bajrang Dal and VHP were arrested and lodged in jails.

60 killed as express trains collide in West

60 people were killed and over 90 passengers injured when a train in high speed tore through the rear of another at the Sainthia station in Bhirbhum district of West engal, after it apparently overshot the signal in the small hours of the day.
Driver M C Dey and assistant driver N K Mandal of the Sealdah-bound Uttarbanga Express, which collided with the Ranchi-bound Vananchal Express, were among the dead in the accident for which railways are not ruling out sabotage as the cause.
The guard of the Vananchal Express A Mukherjee also died in the mishap which was so severe that the roof and the sides of one of the compartments mounted the road overbridge across the tracks in the station, 191 kms from Kolkata, in Eastern Railway.
A part of another compartment of the Vananchal Express split and fell on the road along the tracks after being thrown over the bridge.
"A total of 60 persons, including three railway employees, have lost their lives in the accident when three rear coaches including one luggage van and two unreserved general second class coaches of the Vananchal Express were affected," an Eastern Railway release said here.
The accident occurred at 2:00 am when the New Coochbehar-Sealdah Uttarbanga Express came on the same track and rammed into the Bhagalpur-Ranchi Vananchal Express which was leaving platform number four at Sainthia station.
Eastern Railway General Manager V N Tripathi did not rule out sabotage, which Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee hinted this morning when she said "we have doubts about the cause of the accident, the second in West Bengal in two months".
The General Manager said the train was in speed and "what caused this we will have to find out. The driver is a very good driver and we are also puzzled".
Asked whether sabotage could be behind the accident, he said, "Possibly. Nothing could be ruled out".
Though the railways were hesitant to come out with the reason for the accident, the second in two months in West Bengal after the Jyaneshwari Express disaster that claimed 148 lives, an apparent overshooting of the signal by the driver of the Uttarbanga Express could be the reason behind this.
Eastern Railway sources in Kolkata and Railway Board sources in Delhi said the Uttarbanga Express, which has a scheduled stop at Sainthia, was running at a high speed, overshot the signal and ploughed into the Vananchal Express.
The scheduled arrival and departure of Uttarbanga Express at Sainthia was 1.38 am and 1.39 am. It was not clear why the train, which was to halt at the station, was at a high speed. The engine of the Uttarbanga Express, which was to stop at the station, telescoped into the rear of the Vananchal Express.
The affected bogies have been detached and the trains left for their destinations.
The Railway Minister announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs five lakh each for the kin of the dead, Rs 1 lakh for grievously injured and Rs 25,000 for the other injured. Employment for one of the members of the victims' families will be given in railways, she said.
Railways have ordered a probe by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (eastern circle).
The hand of Maoists is suspected in the May 28 Jyaneshwari Express disaster following which a number of Maoists have been arrested.
Union Home Ministry has despatched five teams of National Disaster Relief Force comprising 140 personnel to assist in the rescue and relief operations. Three teams are already at the spot and the rest two will be reaching soon.
Heavy-duty gas cutters were brought from Panagarh to extricate bodies trapped in the mangled coaches of Vananchal Express.
"The National Disaster Management forces, including the BSF, and police are extricating bodies from the severely damaged coaches at the Sainthia station," West Bengal Director General of Police Bhupinder Singh told PTI.
Singh said that there was a scarcity of blood in the Suri and Sainthia hospitals where the injured were taken to.
"The police are arranging blood from the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital and are also looking for donors to meet the scarcity of blood," the DGP said.
Eastern Railways said rescue operations were proceeding on a war-footing and three relief trains, including medical vans, reached the site from Rampurhat, Burdwan and Asansol.
The first relief train with a medical van reached the site at 3:30 am and immediately started rescue operations, it said.
Trains were being run through the up line, though the down line was still blocked.
Other than cancellation of Malda Town-Howrah intercity Express, Sealdah-Rampurhat Intercity Express and Howrah-Rampurhat Express, the Kanchenjungha Express, Ganadevta Express, Darjeeling Mail, Padatik Express, Jamalpur Express, Kanchenkanya Express, Gaya-Howrah Express, Varanasi-Sealdah Express, Saraighat Express have been diverted via the Naihati-Azimganj route.

Compensation of Rs.5 lakh will be paid to the kin of those killed in the train accident in West Bengal's Birbhum district, union Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee said Monday.
She said a job will also be provided to the kin of the dead.
At least 49 people were dead and 150 injured when the speeding Sealdah-bound Uttar Banga Express rammed into the stationary Bhagalpur-Ranchi Vananchal Express from the rear at Sainthia station in Birbhum.
Banerjee also announced compensation of Rs.1 lakh for the greviously injured and Rs.25,000 for those who sustained minor injuries. (PTI )

JAJPUR: Construction work at the Anantagopal temple in Chhatia, about 60 km from the Jajpur district headquarters, never stops.
It is not that the temple, otherwise known as Chhatiabata, needs regular repair or renovation but the legend has it that work in the temple must go on, come what may. And so has it been since time immemorial.
The temple gets plastered over and over again, new brick walls are added. Wooden doors and windows of the temple dismantled, refixed and get a coat of colour ceaselessly. The Anantagopal temple is regarded as the second abode of Lord Jagannath after Puri.
The endless constructions are certainly a drain on the temple exchequer but then, age-old customs cannot be done away with.
“Regular construction work has been a tradition of the temple,” explains Pradyumna Kumar Das, hereditary trustee of the temple who is treated by the Chhatiabata devotees as a living god. “Since the temple’s present structure cannot be allowed to be different from its past, work continues till now,” he said.
The unique tradition is rooted in age-old belief that comes from ancient scriptures called the Malika, according to which Chhatia originally belonged to Lord Jagannath. The faithfuls claim that Lord Jagannath - now ensconced in his abode at Puri - will return some day to Chhatia. And keeping his eventual return in mind, the construction work in the temple continues. “Lord Jagannath will return to Chhatia some day,” maintains Bibhuti Pal, a faithful. And the decks are being constantly cleared for the Lord’s eventual return. Since his return is expected any day, the statue of Jagannath at Chhatia rides a horse and holds a sword, keeping in mind that it is 'Kaliyug' and he would have to wipe out modern day evils in his reincarnation as Kalki. No one in Chhatia, therefore, expects the work to come to a halt till Lord Jagannath’s return. “The construction work in Chhatia temple will be stopped only when the Lord returns,” said Pal. The belief in the return of Lord Jagannath is so deeply-rooted that locals say if the construction at the temple and the preparations to welcome back the deity ever stop, there will be disasters and the world could even come to an end. The funds for construction works come from donations by devotees. And this also provides work for local carpenters, masons and labourers throughout the year.

The famous Rath Yatra of Keonjhar passed off peacefully as the single giant chariot Nandighosh carrying Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Lord Subhadra arrived at their aunt’s house, Mausi Maa Temple at Bada Danda in Old Town area. Around 50,000 devotees from nearby areas including the neighbouring State of Jharkhand pulled the giant chariot from the famous Sri Baldev Jew Temple here on Tuesday afternoon after the traditional ‘chhera pahanra’ ritual was performed by chief royal priest Harihar Mishra of the present king Ananta Narayan Bhanja Deo.

renewed attempt to scale Mount Everest after being given a warm send off by Governor Rameswar Thakur, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other sports lovers in the Governor House. After the flag off ceremony in Raj Bhawan, Dash went straight to the Jagannath Mandir in Puri to seek Lord's blessing before leaving for Nepal. It will be Dash's second attempt to conquer Everest. In 2004, she could not make it to the top after climbing 7300 metres when she had to withdraw due to frost bite with the summit barely 1500 metres away. Last year was as miserable as the year before as she could not generate the requisite fund for the expedition though people of Dhenkanal,her home district, had organised a sponsorship campaign for her. However failure could not deter her and she has arranged about Rs 16 lakhs out of the total Rs 30 lakhs to be submitted at the end of her expedition and has urged people to donate for her cause.This time, many corporates have come forward with sponsorships and with well wishes from all, it is hoped that she will achieve grand success

विडियोकॉन टॉवर के प्रवेश द्वार में घुसते समय हुई धक्का-मुक्की और पुलिस के साथ झड़प की घटना को छोड़कर प्रदर्शन शांतिपूर्ण और अहिंसक रहा। किसी भी कार्यकर्ता के हाथ में न तो डण्डे थे और न ही लाठियां। निहत्थे सैंकड़ों कार्यकर्ताओं ने टीवी टुडे समूह के समाचार चैनलों के खिलाफ जमकर नारेबाजी की।
राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ दिल्ली के प्रांत संघचालक श्री रमेश प्रकाश, सह प्रांत संघचालक श्री श्यामसुंदर अग्रवाल के नेतृत्व में करीब एक हजार कार्यकर्ताओं के जुलूस ने सायंकाल विडियोकॉन टावर स्थित हेडलाइंस टुडे के कार्यालय के भूतल स्थित मुख्यद्वार के बाहर एकत्रित होकर नारेबाजी शुरू की। कार्यकर्ताओं ने अपने हाथों में तख्तियां ले रखीं थीं जिन पर चैनल विरोधी नारे लिखे हुए थे।
‘हेडलाइंस टुडे हाय-हाय’, वंदे मातरम, भारत माता की जय, आर.एस.एस का अपमान- नहीं सहेगा हिंदुस्तान आदि नारे लगाते हुए कार्यकर्ता विडियोकॉन टावर के मुख्य प्रवेश द्वार के बाहर सायंकाल करीब 5 बजे के आस-पास एकत्रित होना शुरू हुए थे। प्राप्त जानकारी के अनुसार, संघ ने शांतिपूर्ण प्रदर्शन की सूचना पहले से ही स्थानीय पुलिस प्रशासन और हेडलाइंस टुडे के संपादकीय विभाग को दे रखी थी।
मुख्य प्रवेश द्वार के बाहर अभी प्रदर्शन चल ही रहा था कि तकरीबन 5.30 बजे सायंकाल लगभग हजार की संख्या में लोग जुलूस की शक्ल में विडियोकॉन टावर की ओर बढ़े। इस जुलूस में शामिल लोगों में कुछ लोग बहुत आक्रोशित थे। उनका कहना था कि हेडलाइंस टुडे राष्ट्र समर्पित संगठन आर.एस.एस के खिलाफ दुष्प्रचार कर रहा है। उसके वरिष्ठ कार्यकर्ताओं को आतंकवाद से जोड़ना पूरी तरह से निराधार है।
भीड़ में शामिल कुछ लोग हेडलाइंस टुडे के संपादक से मिलकर शिकायत दर्ज कराने की मांग करने लगे। वहां उपस्थित आर.एस.एस के वरिष्ठ लोगों ने कहा कि हमारा प्रदर्शन शांतिपूर्ण है, हमें यहां केवल धरना देना है। लेकिन भीड़ में शामिल लगभग 40-50 लोगों का समूह वरिष्ठ लोगों की अनदेखी करता हुआ मुख्य द्वार के भीतर घुसने का प्रयास करने लगा।
चूंकि विडियोकॉन टॉवर लगभग तेरह मंजिला ऊंची इमारत है। इस इमारत में न केवल आज तक, हेडलाइंस टुडे, मेल टुडे, दिल्ली आज तक का कार्यालय है वरन् आईडीबीआई, आईसीआईसीआई जैसे प्रतिष्ठित बैंक समेत दर्जनों अन्य अर्ध सरकारी, गैर सरकारी दफ्तर भी इस तेरह मंजिला भवन में स्थित हैं। आज तक और हेडलाइंस टुडे का दफ्तर भवन की चौथी मंजिल, पांचवी, छठी, बारहवीं और तेरहवीं मंजिल पर स्थित हैं।
भीड़ में शामिल लोगों की बातचीत और हाव-भाव से स्पष्ट दिख रहा था कि उन्हें इस बात की कोई स्पष्ट जानकारी नहीं थी कि आज तक अथवा हेडलाइंस टुडे का कार्यालय टॉवर के किस तल (फ्लोर) पर है। दूसरे विडियोकॉन टॉवर के प्रबंधन ने एहतियातन ऊपर जाने वाली सभी लिफ्ट को पहले ही बंद कर दिया था। यही कारण है कि मुख्य प्रवेश द्वार के अंदर घुसने के बाद उन्हें यह भी नहीं समझ आया कि वे क्या करें।
ऊपर जाने के लिए लिफ्ट की सुविधा बंद होने के कारण आवेशित कार्यकर्ताओं का दल वापस लौटने को बाध्य हो गया। लौटते समय भूतल पर स्थित स्वागत टेबल, टी स्टॉल और आईडीबीआई बैंक आदि दफ्तरों से जुड़े सूचना पट आदि धक्का-मुक्की में बिखर गए। एक उग्र व्यक्ति ने टी स्टॉल पर रखे गए झाडू या कहें वाइपर को हवा में उछाला। लेकिन तत्काल संघ के कुछ वरिष्ठ कार्यकर्ताओं जिसमें मुकेश कुमार, सह प्रांत कार्यवाह प्रमुख थे, ने उस व्यक्ति को डांटकर बाहर निकाल दिया। एक-आध मिनट के अंदर ही सभी लोगों को संघ के वरिष्ठों ने समझा-बुझाकर मुख्य द्वार से बाहर निकाल दिया। इस मध्य उपस्थित पुलिस को समझ नहीं आ रहा था कि वह क्या करे। जाहिर है कि संघ के बड़े-बुजुर्गों की उपस्थिति ने मामले को ज्यादा बिगड़ने नहीं दिया।
भगदड़ और बेतरतीबी का यह समूचा माज़रा कुछ मिनटों में ही निपट गया। लेकिन हेडलाइंस टुडे के खिलाफ गुस्से का इज़हार मुख्य द्वार के बाहर ज़ारी रहा। सैंकड़ों लोग धरने पर बैठ गए जिन्हें प्रांत संघचालक श्री रमेश प्रकाश ने संबोधित किया। उन्होंने अपने संबोधन में कहा कि हमें किसी प्रकार से हिंसक या अराजक प्रदर्शन नहीं करना है। हमारा प्रतीकात्मक विरोध हेडलाइंस टुडे के खिलाफ आज सफलतापूर्वक संपन्न हो गया है लेकिन यदि राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के खिलाफ किन्हीं पूर्वाग्रहों और राजनीतिक षडयंत्र के अन्तर्गत इसी प्रकार से दुष्प्रचार अभियान चलता रहा तो संघ के कार्यकर्ता लोकतांत्रिक तरीके से अपना विरोध प्रदर्शन आगे भी जारी रखेंगे और आवश्यकता पड़ी तो ऐसे हिन्दू विरोधी समाचार चैनलों के विरुद्ध मानहानि का मुकदमा भी दर्ज कराया जाएगा। धरने को प्रांत प्रचार प्रमुख रविंद्र बंसल, प्रांत कार्यवाह विजय कुमार, सह कार्यवाह मुकेश कुमार ने भी संबोधित किया।
बाद में कार्यकर्ताओं ने समूचे विडियोकॉन टॉवर को मानव श्रृंखला बनाकर घेरने की कोशिश भी की लेकिन भारी पुलिस बल आ जाने के कारण वे ऐसा नहीं कर सके। फिर भी विडियोकॉन टॉवर के अगल-बगल दोनों तरफ कार्यकर्ता नारेबाजी करते रहे। इस बीच एसीपी पुष्पेंद्र कुमार के द्वारा कुछ कार्यकर्तोओं को अपशब्द बोले जाने से कार्यकर्ता पुनः उग्र हो गए। दोनों ओर से भीषण गरमा-गरमी शुरू हो गई। पुलिस ने नारेबाजी कर रहे अनेक कार्यकर्ताओं को जबरन खींचकर अपने कब्जे में ले लिया और लाठियां पटकनी शुरू कर दी। इस लाठी-पटक में अनेक कार्यकर्ताओं की पुलिस ने बेरहमी से पिटाई की और चार कार्यकर्ताओं को पकड़कर विडियोकॉन टॉवर के अंदर अपनी गिरफ्त में ले लिया।
इस संवाददाता ने अपने कानों से एसीपी पुष्पेंद्र कुमार को यह कहते सुना- “सालों को बीच से काटो।...जितने मिलें...उठाकर बंद करो...।" कुछ पुलिस कांस्टेबल यह कहते हुए आने-जाने वालों की धरपकड़ करने लगे “...अरे बंद करो सालों को...मुकदमा भी तो लिखड़ां है... क्या लिखोगे...किसकी गिरफ्तारी दिखाओगे।”
इतना सुनना था कि अपने गंतव्य की ओर वापस लौट रहे कार्यकर्ता आग-बबूला हो गए। फिर से विडियोकॉन की घेरेबंदी शुरू हो गई। यह सारा प्रकरण शाम को उस समय तक चलता रहा जब तक कि कार्यकर्ताओं को यह विश्वास नहीं हो गया कि पुलिस की गिरफ्त में उनके बीच का कोई व्यक्ति नहीं है। समाचार लिखे जाने तक संघ के कुछ वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के पहाड़गंज थाने पहुंचने की सूचना मिली है। फिलहाल टीवी टुडे या हेडलाइंस टुडे की ओर पुलिस में किसी के खिलाफ कोई एफ.आई.आर. दर्ज कराने की सूचना नहीं है। हां, मीडिया चैनलों पर जरूर आज तक, दिल्ली आज तक और हेडलाइंस टुडे समेत अनेक समाचार माध्यमों ने आरएसएस के विरुद्ध वाक्-युद्ध छेड़ दिया है।

Bhubaneswar, (visakeo),July 16, 2010: The media persons of Bhubaneswar created a history to express their solidarity for the cause of mediamen and freedom of press on Friday as all media men boycotted the Orissa Assembly as protest against apathy of the State Government towards rising attack on the media in Orissa. Not a single media person covered the question hour of the House and even Orissa Television which telecasts the live proceedings of the House switched off the cameras to express solidarity with the Media Unity for Freedom of Press (MUFP) which had given the boycott call on Thursday during its demonstration before the Assembly in an attempt to wake up the Naveen Patnaik Government which is ignoring repeated demands of MUFP to punish the assaulters and ensure safety and security of the working media persons in the State.
The media persons did not enter to the press gallery of the State Assembly and squatted before the entrance to the gallery silently .
Mr. Bhupinder Singh, Leader of Opposition came near the squatting media persons and extended the support of the opposition to the cause of the media persons in the State.
Prasanta Patnaik, on behalf of the MUFP congratulated all media persons for taking such a historical step to express solidarity for the cause of the media and freedom of press which is in danger as the State Government and its police were acting against the interest of the media persons. The MUFP also expressed gratitude to the Editors, Media Houses and TV channels for supporting the cause of media unity for freedom of press.

Victory of Hindu Unity , LDF abandons Devaswom amendment Bill
KERALA: The LDF has decided to abandon the Travancore-Kochi Devaswom amendment bill was presented in the Kerala state assembly in March.
The new bill had advocated raising the number of Devaswom members from three to seven. The Bill if enacted would have given the government the right to re-examine any decision taken by the Devaswom Board.
Several Hindu organisations including the NSS, Hindu Aikya Vedi have raised reservations about the bill, saying it was aimed at imposing government control on Hindu institutions through the backdoor.

It is a matter of great concern that the police has yet to wake up to the murderous attack on journalist Chandrakanta Das of Dharitri on 29 April 2010 at 10.30 in presence of the general public by miscreant Kailash Bastia even though Das, rescued by the people present on the spot, has informed in writing of this offence at 11 AM to the police at Karsada. Over and above the physical assault, the miscreant has also robbed him of his gold chain and cash exceeding Rs.3,000/-. This assault was perpetrated as Das had reported a robbery in Dharitri that had irritated the local police as well as Kailas. Apprehending that the police inaction at the local level is generated by its nexus with criminals, the Jagatsinghpur Journalists association had moved the Director General of Police to intervene; but that having failed to buzz the DGP; they have staged a sit-in-demonstration on 5 May 2010 in front of his office.
The Media Unity for Freedom of Press expresses deep anguish over continuous attacks on media persons in Orissa and condemns police inaction against attackers on journalists in general and on Das in particular and calls upon the DGP as well as the State Government to ensure that in every case of assault on media persons by criminals affected by exposure in media, the police personnel of the area concerned be taken to task as abettors in the crime.

अजमेर विस्फोट में राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ का हाथ होने ‘बकवास’ बताते हुए संघ ने आज कहा कि उसकी छवि को खराब करने के इरादे से इस मामले में उसका नाम घसीटा जा रहा है.
संघ के नेता राम माधव ने संवाददाताओं से कहा, ‘अजमेर विस्फोट मामले में संघ का नाम घसीटने के प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं. संघ जैसे निर्दोष संगठनों और व्यक्तियों को बदनाम किया जा रहा है.’ उन्होंने कहा कि अजमेर विस्फोट की जांच सच्चाई की तह तक जानी चाहिए.

महाकुंभ को ‘गिनीज बुक’ में शामिल कराने की तैयारी
हरिद्वार। बैसाख पूर्णिमा के अवसर पर बुधवार को महाकुंभ पर्व का अंतिम स्नान हो रहा है और इसके साथ ही सदी का पहला महाकुंभ समाप्त हो जाएगा। इस अवसर पर लाखों श्रद्धालु ब्रह्मकुंड में डुबकी लगा रहे हैं। ऐसी मान्यता है कि ब्रह्मकुंड में स्नान करने वाले व्यक्ति की हर मुराद पूरी हो जाती है।
इससे पूर्व के प्रमुख स्नानों में परंपरा के अनुसार सुबह आठ बजे से शाम सात बजे तक अखाड़ों के लिए ब्रह्मकुंड आरक्षित रहने के कारण इस समयावधि में आम श्रद्धालु यहां स्नान नहीं कर सकते थे।
महाकुंभ के इन साढ़े तीन महीनों में करीब छह करोड़ से ज्याद लोगों ने स्नान किया, जो कि अनुमान से कहीं बहुत ज्यादा है।
मेला अधिकारी श्री आनंद वर्धन ने कहा, “इन साढ़े तीन महीनों में छह करोड़ से ज्यादा लोगों ने स्नान किया जो कि अनुमान से कहीं बहुत ज्यादा है। इस दौरान क़रीब 30 हजार लोग बिछड़े भी लेकिन उन्हें परिजनों से मिलवा दिया गया और कुल मिलाकर ये आयोजन शांतिपूर्ण रहा।”
इस बार के महाकुंभ के लिए शासन ने चार शाही स्नान सहित 11 स्नान घोषित किए थे। इसके पूर्व के आयोजनों में तीन शाही स्नान होते रहे हैं। पहली बार उदासी और बैरागी अखाड़ों ने भी शाही स्नान किया। लगभग पहली बार ही अखाड़ों में स्नान को लेकर कोई विवाद भी नहीं देखने को मिला और सभी 13 अखाड़ों ने आम सहमति से स्नान किया।
इसकी विशेषता यह रही कि इस पर्व में बड़ी संख्या में विदेशी भी शामिल हुए न सिर्फ पर्यटक के तौर पर बल्कि कुछ महामंडलेश्वर भी बने। ऑस्ट्रेलिया के स्वामी जसराजपुरी सहित कई विदेशियों को महामंडलेश्वर की पदवी दी गई।
उत्तराखंड के मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. रमेश पोखरियाल ‘निशंक’ ने इस अनूठे आयोजन के लिए नोबेल पुरस्कार की मांग की है। उन्होंने कहा, ‘अगर अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा को नोबेल मिल सकता है तो कुंभ को क्यों नहीं?’
वहीं, केंद्र सरकार ने महाकुंभ पर्व को गिनीज बुक ऑफ़ वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड्स में शामिल करने का प्रस्ताव किया है।

ारसेवकों को कारसेवा और श्रद्धालुओं को राम जन्म भूमि मंदिर में दर्शन की इजाजत थी। यह जानकारी गुरुवार को यहां फैजाबाद की एएसपी अंजू गुप्ता ने रायबरेली की विशेष अदालत में बाबरी मस्जिद विध्वंस मामले की सुनवाई के दौरान बचाव पक्ष के सवालों के जवाब में दी। बाबरी विध्वंस के दिन अंजू बीजेपी के वरिष्ठ नेता लाल कृष्ण आडवाणी की सुरक्षा और एस्कॉर्ट डयूटी में तैनात थीं।
अंजू ने 26 मार्च को मामले में सीबीआई के नौंवे गवाह के रूप में अपने बयान दर्ज कराए थे। उनके बयान पर जिरह के दौरान बचाव पक्ष के वकील हरिदत्त शर्मा ने गुप्ता से पूछा था कि पांच दिसम्बर 1992 को फैजाबाद के तत्कालीन आईजी ए के सरन की अध्यक्षता में हुई समीक्षा बैठक में क्या यह निर्देश दिए गए थे कि छह दिसम्बर को कारसेवकों को कारसेवा और श्रद्धालुओं को रोज की तरह राम मंदिर में दर्शन की अनुमति रहेगी।
इसके जवाब में अंजू ने अदालत को बताया, हमें यह पहले से मालूम था कि छह दिसम्बर को कारसेवकों को कारसेवा करने और श्रद्धालुओं को दर्शन की अनुमति रहेगी और सुरक्षा बलों को सतर्कता बरतते रहना है।
बाबरी विध्वंस मामले में अहम गवाह मानी जा रही अंजू आज इस सिलसिले में तीसरी बार अदालत में पेश हुईं। लगभग तीन घंटे तक चली जिरह में शर्मा ने अंजू से अदालत में दिए गए उनके बयान में बताई गई बहुत सी बातों में से कई का पूर्व में इसी संबंध में सीबीसीआईडी को दिए बयान में उल्लेख न होने और पांच दिसम्बर 92 को आईजी सरन की अध्यक्षता में हुई समीक्षा बैठक में हुई चर्चाओं के बारे में सवाल जवाब किए।

शर्मा ने अंजू से गुरुवार को फिर यह जानना चाहा कि क्या आईजी, पुलिस सरन की समीक्षा बैठक में यह बात सामने आई थी कि पाकिस्तानी खुफिया एजेंसी आईएसआई के एजेंट अयोध्या पहुंच कर जनसमूह में मिल गए है और उनकी योजना विस्फोट आदि करके विवादित ढांचे को नुकसान पहुंचाने की है, ताकि देश में अशांति और कानून व्यवस्था का खतरा पैदा हो।
इसके जवाब में अंजू ने कहा, मैं बता चुकी हूं कि आईजी सरन ने खुफिया एजेसियों से विवादित ढांचे को नुकसान पहुंचाने संबंधी खतरों की जानकारियां मिलने का जिक्र किया था। इसमें आईएसआई एजेंटों और कारसेवकों से होने वाले खतरे का भी उल्लेख था। चूंकि, पांच दिसम्बर को इसके अलावा भी सुरक्षा संबंधी बैठकें हुई थी जिनमें हुई चर्चाओं के बारे में मुजानकारी नहीं थी। जनसमूह में और कारसेवको में कश्मीरी आतंकवादियों या आईएसआई के लोगों के शामिल होने के बारे में गुप्ता ने किसी तरह की जानकारी होने से इनकार किया।
बचाव पक्ष के इस सवाल पर कि क्या आईएसआई अथवा कश्मीरी आतंकी संगठनों के खतरे को देखते हुए ही विवादित ढांचे की तीन घेरे वाली सुरक्षा व्यवस्था की गई थी, अंजू ने कहा कि वहां यह सुरक्षा व्यवस्था पहले से ही लागू थी।
एक अन्य सवाल के जवाब में अंजू ने बताया कि आडवाणी की पूरी अयोध्या यात्रा के दौरान उन्हें उनकी एस्कॉर्ट ड्यूटी में तैनात किया गया था, लेकिन छह दिसम्बर की शाम को उनकी ड्यूटी दंगा नियंत्रित करने के लिए लगा दी गई, जिसके बाद वह छह साढे़ छह बजे के बीच मंच के पास से चली गई थीं।
अदालत में दिए उनके बयान में बताई गई कुछ बातों का सीबीसीआईडी को दिए बयान में जिक्र न होने के बारे में पूछे जाने पर, अंजू ने अदालत को बताया कि उन्होंने सारी बातें सीबीसीआईडी के विवेचना अधिकारी को दिए बयान में बतायी थीं, यदि उनका उल्लेख नहीं है तो इस बारे में वह कुछ नही कह सकतीं।
गुप्ता ने मामले में पहली बार 26 मार्च को गवाही दी थी और इससे पहले 23 अप्रैल को बचाव पक्ष ने उनसे जिरह की थी। जिरह आज भी अधूरी रही और अदालत ने अगली जिरह के लिए 15 मई की तारीख लगा दी है। इस मामले में आडवाणी के अलावा मुरली मनोहर जोशी, उमा भारती और संघ परिवार के अन्य नेता आरोपी हैं।

इसके जवाब में अंजू ने कहा, मैं बता चुकी हूं कि आईजी सरन ने खुफिया एजेसियों से विवादित ढांचे को नुकसान पहुंचाने संबंधी खतरों की जानकारियां मिलने का जिक्र किया था। इसमें आईएसआई एजेंटों और कारसेवकों से होने वाले खतरे का भी उल्लेख था। चूंकि, पांच दिसम्बर को इसके अलावा भी सुरक्षा संबंधी बैठकें हुई थी जिनमें हुई चर्चाओं के बारे में मुजानकारी नहीं थी। जनसमूह में और कारसेवको में कश्मीरी आतंकवादियों या आईएसआई के लोगों के शामिल होने के बारे में गुप्ता ने किसी तरह की जानकारी होने से इनकार किया।
बचाव पक्ष के इस सवाल पर कि क्या आईएसआई अथवा कश्मीरी आतंकी संगठनों के खतरे को देखते हुए ही विवादित ढांचे की तीन घेरे वाली सुरक्षा व्यवस्था की गई थी, अंजू ने कहा कि वहां यह सुरक्षा व्यवस्था पहले से ही लागू थी।
एक अन्य सवाल के जवाब में अंजू ने बताया कि आडवाणी की पूरी अयोध्या यात्रा के दौरान उन्हें उनकी एस्कॉर्ट ड्यूटी में तैनात किया गया था, लेकिन छह दिसम्बर की शाम को उनकी ड्यूटी दंगा नियंत्रित करने के लिए लगा दी गई, जिसके बाद वह छह साढे़ छह बजे के बीच मंच के पास से चली गई थीं।
अदालत में दिए उनके बयान में बताई गई कुछ बातों का सीबीसीआईडी को दिए बयान में जिक्र न होने के बारे में पूछे जाने पर, अंजू ने अदालत को बताया कि उन्होंने सारी बातें सीबीसीआईडी के विवेचना अधिकारी को दिए बयान में बतायी थीं, यदि उनका उल्लेख नहीं है तो इस बारे में वह कुछ नही कह सकतीं।
गुप्ता ने मामले में पहली बार 26 मार्च को गवाही दी थी और इससे पहले 23 अप्रैल को बचाव पक्ष ने उनसे जिरह की थी। जिरह आज भी अधूरी रही और अदालत ने अगली जिरह के लिए 15 मई की तारीख लगा दी है। इस मामले में आडवाणी के अलावा मुरली मनोहर जोशी, उमा भारती और संघ परिवार के अन्य नेता आरोपी हैं।

गुरुवार को बीजेपी ने सोरेन सरकार से समर्थन वापस लेने के फैसले को फिलहाल टाल दिया है। अब बीजेपी का केंद्रीय नेतृत्व झारखंड के विधायकों से बात करने के बाद ही अंतिम फैसला लेगा। इस बीच शिबू सोरेन के बेटे ने बीजेपी से माफी मांग ली है और कहा है कि हम अब भी एनडीए के साथ हैं। दूसरी ओर, यह भी खबर आ रही है कि झारखंड का अगला सीएम बीजेपी का भी हो सकता है।

रायबरेली।। उत्तर प्रदेश के रायबरेली जिले में बुधवार को दो समुदायों के बीच हुई झड़प के मामले में पुलिस
ने 40 लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया है।
पुलिस के अनुसार बुधवार को जिले के जायस कस्बे में हुई सांप्रदायिक झड़प के दौरान लोगों ने तोड़फोड़ और आगजनी करने के साथ-साथ विरोधी गुटों और पुलिस पर पथराव किया था।
जिले के अपर पुलिस अधीक्षक शालिग राम ने गुरुवार को संवाददाताओं को बताया गिरफ्तार लोग दोनों समुदायों के हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि जायस और आस-पास के इलाके में भारी सुरक्षा बल तैनात किए गए हैं।
राम ने कहा कि फिर से हालात न बिगड़े इसलिए भारी संख्या में पुलिस बल के अलावा दो कंपनी प्रांतीय सशस्त्र बल(पीएसी) तैनात की गई है। फिलहाल हालात पूरी तरह से काबू में है।
पुलिस के मुताबिक दोनों समुदायों के बीच विवाद एक क्रिकेट मैच से शुरू हुआ, जहां कुछ युवकों ने दूसरे समुदाय के लड़के की पिटाई कर दी थी, जिसके बाद विवाद ने हिंसक रूप ले लिया।

Naxals protect the Ganja farmers & traders & in turn they collect money from them.No of times they attacked on the Essar company to frightened the staff & collect ransom amount of money from them.It was believed that no of Govt officials & industry owners supply money in fear to naxals.Last year in Rayagada a renowned engineering college.s Staff were caught by police while they carry money bag for maoists. Maoists collected forcefully money from private farms.even the bus operators are also tortured in this process. In mines area like Joda maoists create havoc to get money from mines owners.They burnt the vehicles of company to spread fear among the staffs.Naxals invest small amount of money in grassroot level & a large amount money was used for central committee. The cadres get Rs 2500-4000 while the leaders get much more for planning & execution of stratergic plans.

नई दिल्ली।। झारखंड के मुख्यमंत्री शिबू सोरेन ने संसद में कटौती प्रस्ताव के दौरान सरकार के पक्ष में वोट
देकर सियासी भूचाल ला दिया है। सोरेन की इस सियासी चाल से नाराज बीपेजी ने शिबू सोरेन सरकार से समर्थन वापस लेने की घोषणा कर दी है। बीजेपी ने यह फैसला संसदीय समिति की बैठक में किया। बीजेपी बुधवार को ही रांची में राज्यपाल से मिलकर उन्हें सोरेन सरकार से समर्थन वापस लेने संबंधी पत्र सौंप देगी। संसदीय समिति की बैठक के बाद बीजेपी के सीनियर नेता अंतत कुमार ने इसकी जानकारी दी।
दूसरी ओर झारखंड की इस राजनीतिक घटनाक्रम पर खुलकर कुछ भी कहने से कांग्रेस बच रही है। बीजेपी की समर्थन वापसी की घोषणा पर कांग्रेस प्रवक्ता अभिषेक मनु सिंघवी ने कहा कि अभी इस मसले पर कुछ भी नहीं कहा जा सकता है। दोनों पार्टियां मिल बैठकर निर्णय लेंगी।
इस मुद्दे पर बिहार के मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार बीजेपी के साथ नजर आए। नीतीश ने कहा कि शिबू सोरेन ने गलत काम किया है और बीजेपी को समर्थन वापस लेना ही चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि यह कैसे संभव है कि राज्य में आप किसी और का समर्थन करें और केंद्र में किसी और का।
गौरतलब है कि मुख्यमंत्री शिबू सोरेन ने संसद में कटौती प्रस्ताव के दौरान यूपीए सरकार के पक्ष में वोट दिया था। इसके बाद ही तमाम तरह की अटकलें लगाई जा रही थीं।

देकर सियासी भूचाल ला दिया है। सोरेन की इस सियासी चाल से नाराज बीपेजी ने शिबू सोरेन सरकार से समर्थन वापस लेने की घोषणा कर दी है। बीजेपी ने यह फैसला संसदीय समिति की बैठक में किया। बीजेपी बुधवार को ही रांची में राज्यपाल से मिलकर उन्हें सोरेन सरकार से समर्थन वापस लेने संबंधी पत्र सौंप देगी। संसदीय समिति की बैठक के बाद बीजेपी के सीनियर नेता अंतत कुमार ने इसकी जानकारी दी।
दूसरी ओर झारखंड की इस राजनीतिक घटनाक्रम पर खुलकर कुछ भी कहने से कांग्रेस बच रही है। बीजेपी की समर्थन वापसी की घोषणा पर कांग्रेस प्रवक्ता अभिषेक मनु सिंघवी ने कहा कि अभी इस मसले पर कुछ भी नहीं कहा जा सकता है। दोनों पार्टियां मिल बैठकर निर्णय लेंगी।
इस मुद्दे पर बिहार के मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार बीजेपी के साथ नजर आए। नीतीश ने कहा कि शिबू सोरेन ने गलत काम किया है और बीजेपी को समर्थन वापस लेना ही चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि यह कैसे संभव है कि राज्य में आप किसी और का समर्थन करें और केंद्र में किसी और का।

NEW DELHI: Calling Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren's action of voting with the government in Lok Sabha an "act of betrayal", BJP on Wednesday withdrew its support to the JMM government in Jharkhand.
The decision was taken in the party’s parliamentary board meeting which had been convened to discuss the future of ties with JMM in Jharkhand.
Senior party leaders had earlier said that BJP had taken very serious note of Soren's action and is not buying the explanation given by Soren's son Hemant that it has happened by mistake even as the Chief Minister wondered "what difference will it (his vote) make".
"The voting in favour of UPA by Soren is an act of betrayal. The manner in which he has voted is a betrayal of coalition dharma. We have taken it very seriously. Senior party leaders will take a call on it," senior BJP leader Prakash Javdekar said.
Another party leader Venkaiah Naidu had echoed similar views saying "it's a clear betrayal".
"You can't be heading a government with the support of BJP, be in opposition and at the same time, support the ruling party at the Centre. It is not acceptable. On what to do the party will meet and discuss. It is a serious issue," he said.
Naidu also refused to buy the explanation given by Hemant Soren on the issue that his father voted for UPA in a mistake.
Senior party leader from Jharkhand Yashwant Sinha said, "He (Soren) is there (on the Chief Minister's chair) in Jharkhand with our support. Therefore, the least that was expected of him that he would not go to this stage. He could have stayed neutral."
Soren had a meeting with BJP president Nitin Gadkari last night where his decision not to vote with the BJP came up for discussion.

BHUBANESWAR, 24th APR (visakeo) : Biswa Dharma Surakhya Committee started a move in Puri to oppose un-asthetical use of photos of Hindu God & goddess on different items, commodities. The organisation lead by some intellectuals of Puri town starts a campaign to create awareness among all, to oppose such use of photos. The leaders told that photos of deities including Lord Jagannath were used in commercials purpose & for advt in covers of variety of products available in market. Such commodities were thrown here & there after use, gone to dustbin. It hurts sentiments of peoples no of times, which the manufacturer compny never takes care. To stop such act they started such movement. The committee lodged a complaint in Sri Mandir police statio, meet to the collector & SP. Also the Sri Mandir sebayats supported this movement.

As it is false so Hindus oppose this move of christians & stage a demo infront of Badagada Police Station. Bajarang Dal members joined them & alleged that it is a move to conversion.When the situation moves towards critical Bhanjanagar sub-collector, Aska SDPO, Ghumusar DFO intervene in the matter & discussed with both the parties. Finally it was decided that the Girza will be constructed on another place. Then the villagers pacified & withdraw their agitation.

The journalists rush to cover the student agitation in Silicon Institue of Technology on Thursday late-night were attacked by the staff of the institue. A no of journalists were seriously injured when the college staff attacked the media persons with stick, iron rod & broke their cameras. The incident occured when a student dies because of food poisioning & other students started agitation. Journalists body Media Unity for Freedom of Press (MUFP) demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. On Friday a team of journalists in a rally went to the Commissioner of Police's office and handed over a letter in this regard.

BHUBANESWAR, 19th APR (visakeo): The MOU signed between the Govt of Odisha & Vedanta company needs to cancelled immediately & the land given to Anil Agrawal must be returned without wasting any time. Centre needs to interfere in the matter to return the Amrut Manohi land of Lord Jagannath. According to the order of Odisha Lokpal all concerned & guilty officers & ministers must be punished. Also the centre can make a vigilance enquiry. By direct interference of P.M only the large scale destruction of agricultural land can be saved & also the sentiments of people of Odisha will be remain unhurt. Swadeshi Jagaran Manch presented a memorandum in this regard to P.M. yesterday at New Delhi.
In opposing to the proposed Vedanta university on Monday Swadeshi Jagaran Manch & Vedanta BiswaBidyalya Birodhi Sangharsa Samiti staged a large scale demonstration before parliament. In this demo. no of intellectuals, envirnomentalists, socialists & senior politicians joined. Advisor of Sangharsa Samiti Uma Ballabh Rath told that in io way any land of Lord Jagannath will be left to Vedanta. All India organising secretary of Jagaran Manch Kashmir Lalaji told how the company acquired thousands of land in the real estate way in the name of establishing an university & by showing false illustration to all. X-organising secretary Muralidhar Rao requested P.M. to direct intervene in this matter. BJP national general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan demanded the resignation of C.M. Nabin Pattanaik as the Lokpal brings him in doubt in this matter. A large no of activists of Jagaran Manch, supporters from allover the country, more than 200 people from Baisi Mouja in Puri joined in this programme.

BHUBANESWAR, 14th APR (visakeo): The members of Rashtriya Swayamsebaka Sangha joined hands with temple administration in Ghatagaon on the occassion of Maha Bishuba Sankranti. They helped in giving seba to devotees, provided water to them, made arrangements for their rest & safe-peaceful Darshan of Godess Tarini, helped police in traffic & crowd contol. Today thousand & thousands of devotees came to temple from different part of the state. Earlier the temple authority requested the local Karyakartas of sangha to do so. People praised the effort of SwayamSebaks.

BHUBANESWAR, 14th APR (visakeo): The Odia Naba Barsha/ Bishuba Sankraanti/Panaa Sankraanti/ Hanuman Jayanti observed all over the state today in a large scale with a prosporous manner. Devotees make Darshan to Lord Hanuman & worship deities in a large number. Also they greet each other on this ospicious occassion. Today the 13 or 21 day long Danda Yatra & the month long Jhamu Yatra ended. The Dandua's concluded their hard worship after a special puja perfomed at Goddess Kali at different places. Also they performed Dhuli Danda, Paani Danda & other cermonies for last time in this season today. The Pata Dandua performed Agni Danda by hanging above Yagna fire infront of goddess. Devotees also worshiped Goddess Jhamu in a special manner today during concluding ceremony. People distribute Bela Panaa/ Nabata Panaa to other. Mass Hanuman Chalisa Patha programmes were hold all over. Number of cultural programmes/devotional programmes/ prabachan/bhajan sandhya organised. In Bhubaneswar no of artists welcomed Odia Naba Barsha with paint brush & canvas. They united & create paintings of varieties on this occassion. Prerana observed Odisha Mahotsav where no of politicians & actress gathered to celebrate this day.
In Sambalpur a mass rally organised by Hindu organisations on Hanuman Jayanti. The Akhadas joined in this rally where the large statue of Lord Hanuman travelled in different parts of town, including nearby Muslim Bastis. Youths performed Badi Khela & malla Yudha tricks on this occassions. Police made strict arrangements to avoid any odd-happening.
In Puri special spiritual ceremonies held at Sri Mandir. Spl puja made to worship God Hanuman in Byayam Kendras & started the new year of education of Malla Yudha. Also in Brahmapur puja & yagnas held in different physical clubs.

Devotees make Darshan to Lord Hanuman & worship deities in a large number. Also they greet each other on this ospicious occassion. Today the 13 or 21 day long Danda Yatra & the month long Jhamu Yatra ended. The Dandua's concluded their hard worship after a special puja perfomed at Goddess Kali at different places. Also they performed Dhuli Danda, Paani Danda & other cermonies for last time in this season today. The Pata Dandua performed Agni Danda by hanging above Yagna fire infront of goddess. Devotees also worshiped Goddess Jhamu in a special manner today during concluding ceremony. People distribute Bela Panaa/ Nabata Panaa to other. Mass Hanuman Chalisa Patha programmes were hold all over. Number of cultural programmes/devotional programmes/ prabachan/bhajan sandhya organised. In Bhubaneswar no of artists welcomed Odia Naba Barsha with paint brush & canvas. They united & create paintings of varieties on this occassion. Prerana observed Odisha Mahotsav where no of politicians & actress gathered to celebrate this day.
In Sambalpur a mass rally organised by Hindu organisations on Hanuman Jayanti. The Akhadas joined in this rally where the large statue of Lord Hanuman travelled in different parts of town, including nearby Muslim Bastis. Youths performed Badi Khela & malla Yudha tricks on this occassions. Police made strict arrangements to avoid any odd-happening.
In Puri special spiritual ceremonies held at Sri Mandir. Spl puja made to worship God Hanuman in Byayam Kendras & started the new year of education of Malla Yudha. Also in Brahmapur puja & yagnas held in different physical clubs.

In Orissa, a village of Sanskrit pundits
Bhubaneswar(visakeo)-Sanskrit may have ceased to be spoken by people, but there is a remote
village in this coastal district of Orissa where every home has a pundit
of the ancient language.
Sasana village in the Shyamsundar gram panchayat area is almost an
anachronism in today's culture which no longer takes pride in mastering
the language which, along with Latin, was once the two most dominant
languages in the world.
The village, inhabited almost fully by Brahmins, has a little over 32
households with 200-odd members. In all the households one will come
across Sanskrit pundits employed in government-run Sanskrit-medium
educational institutions.
"We are proud patrons of Sanskrit. The ancient language is very much
alive at the village, 76-year-old Baishnav Charan Pati, a Sanskrit
pundit who has retired from his teaching job, said.
Pati said that they made sure for generations that at least one child in
every household had been taught in the Sanskrit medium of education.
"Most of the Sanskrit-educated residents have found employment either in
government schools or have taken up career as priests to preside over
Hindu ceremonies,'' Pati said.
Take the case of Pundit Trilochan Sadangi. Both his sons and daughter
are Sanskrit-educated and are teaching the language in government-run
schools.
"By encouraging our children to learn Sanskrit, we are trying to revive
the language. We are largely successful till now and we earnestly hope
that our future generations will keep the tradition alive,'' Pati said
with a tinge of pride.
The village's fascination for Sanskrit has not come from the blue, but
rather flowed from its rich tradition in Sanskrit learning.

For the 1st time in this census information will be collected about the residence, house & its ownership along with no of family members, bank account, mobile use & other informations. With the help of all these informations collected in this Census the unique Identity code will be given to the citizens of our nation & by the end of next year special I-cards also will be given. However there is a concern that taking the fault rules of this census, the illegal BanglaDeshi intruders may became the legal citizens of India with getting special Identity code & card in any way.

BHUBANESWAR(visakeo)-4th APR: Naxals strike police & security personnel again before the green hunt operation started. This time they targeted a bus carrying SOG men in Koraput district today. In this landmine blast more than 10 security personnel were killed and a no of securitymen injured. This incident occured at about 14 km from Baipariguda town when a group of the state's Special Operation Group were going in three vehicles. It is expected that the casuality may go up. Last week naxals striked a patrolling party of policemen in Gajapati district. 3 jawans were killed in firing by naxals & 5 policemen were seriously injured.

शाना बनाए जाने से 10 सुरक्षाकर्मी शहीद हो गए और 3 घायल हो गए।
पुलिस डीआईजी संजीब पांडा ने बताया कि नक्सलियों ने बायपारीगुडा कसबे से 14 किलोमीटर दूर उस समय एक बारूदी सुरंग विस्फोट किया जब बड़ी संख्या में विशेष अभियान समूह (एसओजी) के सुरक्षाकर्मी 3 वाहनों में सवार होकर वहां से गुजर रहे थे।
पांडा ने बताया कि नक्सलियों ने एक बस को विस्फोट से उड़ा दिया। वाहन पूरी तरह क्षतिग्रस्त हो चुका है। कम से कम 10 सुरक्षाकर्मियों की मृत्यु की पुष्टि हो चुकी है। मृतकों की संख्या बढ़ सकती है। इस हमले में कम से कम 3 लोग घायल भी हुए हैं।
राज्य का आधे से अधिक हिस्सा नक्सल प्रभावित है। राजधानी भुवनेश्वर से करीब 500 किलोमीटर दूरी पर स्थित कोरापुट जिले को नक्सलियों का गढ़ माना जाता है।

यूपीए सरकार का हिन्दुओं से साथ ही भेदभाव क्यों?
आज सारे भारत में यूपीए सरकार के प्रति रोष उभर कर सामने आ रहा है जो नीति कभी मुस्लिम बादशाहों नें हिन्दुओं के लिए अपनाई थी वही नीति यूपीए सरकार केवल अपना वोट बैंक पक्का करने के लिए अपने ही निर्धन भाइयों का गला काट कर अपना रही है. हिन्दू कुशाग्र बुद्धि के होते हुए भी अगर निर्धन हैं तो वह शिक्षा के अभाव में चाहे भटके, इससे सरकार को कोई मतलब नहीं, किन्तु अल्पसंख्यक नाम का ठप्प लगे हुए मुसलमान विद्यार्थियों का पूरा-पूरा ध्यान रखते हुए चाहे वह मंद बुद्धि का है उसके लिए छात्रवृत्तियों के भंडार खोल दिए हैं. हाल ही में हिन्दुओं को सुविधाओं से वंचित रख अल्पसंख्यकों के लिए २५ लाख छात्र्वृत्त्यों की घोषणा की गई है. क्या जम्मू-कश्मीर, अरुणाचल जैसे कई स्थानों में हिन्दू अल्पसंखक नहीं हैं. क्या सरकार ने उनके बारे में कभी कुछ सोचा है? भारत में लाखों युवक बेकारी की हालत में रोजी रोटी को तरस रहे हैं और जो अल्पसंख्यक आतंकवादी आकाओं की छत्रछाया में सीमा पर बैठे हैं उनका भारत में आने पर चिदम्बरम द्वारा स्वागत किया जा रहा है.

A BRIEF REPORT ABOUT THE MURDER OF SRI MURTHY, A HINDU MUNNANI ACTIVIST ON 27.02.2010.
On the morning of 27th Feburary 2010 around 1000 a.m., Sri Murthy, an Hindu Munnai activist was brutally murdered by some Muslim fundamentalists. It was a planned murder carried out in order to create terror among the residents of Pudur locality of Gnayaru Village of Sholavaram area and thereby forcibly take possession of 64 cents of land belonging to a Hindu trust. The genesis of this is as detailed below:
A Baba by name Sarveswar came to this village long time back, lived and attained samadhi. He propogated the Sarveswar mantra to the people. One of his close disciples was Smt.Gajalakshmi, wife of one Sri Govindaswamy Naidu. She was instrumental in building a Samadhi for the Baba and also gave away all her wealth for the worship of the Baba by creating a Trust in his name. Her son Sri Semadri is the present trustee.
Everybody in this locality knew that this Baba was a Hindu and he propogated the Sarveswar mantra. However, 10 years back, a group of muslims in order to take control of the property of the trust spread the rumour that the Baba's real name was Shahkinsha Baba and that he was a Muslim. They forcibly occupied the Samadhi and started threatening the local Hindus.
The dispute went to the police and local court and it was clearly ruled that the Baba was a Hindu and the disciple who built a samadhi in his name was a Hindu and Hindus only offered worship there. In spite of this, the High Court gave a verdict that both Hindus and Muslims have an equal say in the worship in the said place.
It is pertinent to point out that for some years there has been an influx of Muslim fundamentalists to this area and forcible conversion of many women to Muslims by abducting them from various places. This has been brought to the notice of the local police now and then. The people of this locality also came to know that some fundamentalists Muslims belonging to Melapalayam of Madurai and Tirunelveli have frequently visited this place, stayed here and carried out various crimes.
Amidst this background, on 27.02.2010, when Sri Murthy (39 years), who was a member of the Sarveswar Baba Committee and a Hindu Munnani activist, came out of the Temple of Sarveswar Baba after worship and lighting a lamp, was burtally murdered by Muslim fundamentalists in broad daylight. The sister of Sri Murthy told that Sri Murthy had informed her a few days before the murder that he has been receiving death threats from Muslims and that they are hatching plans to kill him.
The local people strongly suspect that such fundamentalist activities are encouraged and supported by Yasim Ali, an Adocate of Madras High Court, Sri J.M.Haroon, an M.P., of Tenkasi and Sri H.Haroon.

New Delhi, Mar 4 (ANI): The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee on Thursday charged the Naveen Patnaik-led government in Orissa of plundering the state's mineral wealth to the tune of over Rupees three-lakh crores.
Buzz up!Naba Kishore Das, the General Secretary of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, said, "The Naveen Patnaik Government has misused the funds and we demand a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the alleged scam.
Das, who is also an MLA from Jharsuguda also wrote a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and later met her in this regard.
"We briefed her on the entire issue. Sonia Gandhi has said that she would look into the matter with some seriousness," he added.
Further lashing out at the Patnaik Government, Das said mine owners have been using Fake Transit Passes on a large scale and transporting minerals worth thousands of crores from Orissa.
"The State Government has permitted traders to print their own Transit Passes, resulting a massive losses to the Government by unethical use of such Transit Passes," he added.
"Despite powers under Section 23C of amended Mines and Minerals Development and Regulation (MMDR) Act 1957, the State Government has not taken steps to check illegal mining, illegal transportation and storage of minerals, claimed Das adding that government inaction has led to mineral extraction way beyond permitted quantities.
Das said despite the State Government signing Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with big private firms, Orissa is still poor and locals experience huge difficulties due to the export of iron ore fines from Keonjhar and Sundargarh Districts.
"Out of the total 621 mines in Orissa, the lease for around 200 mines are over, but still they are run," he claimed.
Durjyodhan Gerdia, who is an MLA from Rengali, said, "We demand strict action against all ministers in the Naveen Patnaik Government and ask for stringent steps to be taken against all perpetrators involved in the scam."
Orissa holds a prominent place in mineral resources with large deposits of major and miner minerals and the receipts from it constitute the largest source of non-tax revenue of the state. By mit Shankar (ANI)

BHUBANESWAR: While the steel project of Posco is hanging fire due to stiff resistance from the public over land acquisition, the BJP today announced its support to the farmers of Angul and Dhenkanal districts opposing acquisition of agricultural land in the Rengali right canal command area for independent power projects (IPPs).
Three senior leaders of the party - KV Singhdeo, Bijay Mohapatra and Dharmendra Pradhan - questioned the rationale of acquiring over 3,000 acres of agricultural land in the command area of Rengali Irrigation Project after an investment of about Rs 1,700 crore in the project. While the Government had taken loan from the World Bank to complete 79 km of the right bank canal, it is negotiating with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for additional loan to complete the right canal.
Of the four IPPs coming up in the Rengali right bank canal command area, the private land requirement of GMR Energy is 1,030 acres. Substantial portion of the private land has been handed over to the company which proposed to set up a 1,000 MW power plant at Kamalanga in Dhenkanal district.
However, 40 civil suits pertaining to village Kamalanga have been pending in the court of Dhenkanal civil judge court, Singhdeo said.
The Government has issued notification for acquisition of 1,104 acres of private land for the 1,320 MW Lanco Power Project at Badabandha, 1,002 acres for the 1,040 MW power plant of Navbharat Power at Khadaprasad and 882 acres for CESE Ltd at Neulapoi all in Dhenkanal district.
The acquisition of agricultural land in the command area of the Rengali right canal will defeat the purpose of the irrigation project which was conceptualised in the seventies to irrigate over 84,000 hectares of land in Angul, Dhenkanal and Cuttack districts, the BJP leaders said.
Resentment is brewing in the villages to be affected by the power projects and the situation may turn explosive, they cautioned.
Responding to a query, Singhdeo said his party was not opposed to industrialisation but will not support the Government so far as acquisition of fertile agriculture land is concerned.
“BJP stand committed to protect the interests of the farmers,’’ he said and added that his party will oppose tooth and nail the anti-farmer policy.
The party will take up the issue in the ensuing session of the Assembly, they added.

While the Government had taken loan from the World Bank to complete 79 km of the right bank canal, it is negotiating with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for additional loan to complete the right canal.
Of the four IPPs coming up in the Rengali right bank canal command area, the private land requirement of GMR Energy is 1,030 acres. Substantial portion of the private land has been handed over to the company which proposed to set up a 1,000 MW power plant at Kamalanga in Dhenkanal district.
However, 40 civil suits pertaining to village Kamalanga have been pending in the court of Dhenkanal civil judge court, Singhdeo said.
The Government has issued notification for acquisition of 1,104 acres of private land for the 1,320 MW Lanco Power Project at Badabandha, 1,002 acres for the 1,040 MW power plant of Navbharat Power at Khadaprasad and 882 acres for CESE Ltd at Neulapoi all in Dhenkanal district.
The acquisition of agricultural land in the command area of the Rengali right canal will defeat the purpose of the irrigation project which was conceptualised in the seventies to irrigate over 84,000 hectares of land in Angul, Dhenkanal and Cuttack districts, the BJP leaders said.
Resentment is brewing in the villages to be affected by the power projects and the situation may turn explosive, they cautioned.
Responding to a query, Singhdeo said his party was not opposed to industrialisation but will not support the Government so far as acquisition of fertile agriculture land is concerned.
“BJP stand committed to protect the interests of the farmers,’’ he said and added that his party will oppose tooth and nail the anti-farmer policy.
The party will take up the issue in the ensuing session of the Assembly, they added.

HASSAN: Minister for Wakf and Minorities Welfare Mumtaz Ali Khan has called upon Muslims in the State not to oppose the Bill banning cow slaughter.
The Minister said he too would not oppose the Bill as only 30 per cent of Muslims consumed beef. Moreover, the Bharatiya Janata Party Government was committed to improve the lot of the minorities, even though they had been used as vote-bank by the Opposition, he said.
Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Dr. Khan said the State Government was committed to providing financial assistance to all those who stood to lose their livelihood following the Government’s decision on the ban. The Minister said that Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa would increase the allocation for minorities welfare from Rs. 186 crore to Rs. 300 crore. I am not Khan. My name bears a different set of four letters: K A U L. Kaul. As those who know Indian names would understand I happened to be born in a family which was called Hindu by others. Hence, we were sure, we would never get a friend like KJ to make a movie on our humiliations, and the contemptuous and forced exile from our homeland. It's not fashionable. It's fashionable to get a Khan as a friend and portray his agony and pains and sufferings when he is asked by a US private to take off his shoes and show his socks. Natural and quite justifiable that Khan must feel insulted and enraged. Enough Masala to make a movie.
But unfortunately I am a Kaul. I am not a Khan.
Hence when my sisters and mothers were raped and killed, when six-year-old Seema was witness to the brutal slaughtering of her brother, mother and father with a butcher's knife by a Khan, nobody ever came to make a movie on my agony, pain and anguish, and tears.
we look at our own selves as Kauls, we also see a macabre dance of leaders who people Parliament. Some of them were really concerned about us. They got the bungalows and acres of greenery and had their portraits were worshipped by the gullible devotees of patriotism But unfortunately I am a Kaul. I am not a Khan.

The humiliation of taking off the shoes and the urge to show that you are innocent is really too deep. But what about the humiliation of leaving your home and hearth and the world and the relatives and wife and mother and father? And being forced to live in shabby tents, at the mercy of nincompoop leaders encashing your misery and bribe-seeking babus? And seeing your daughters growing up too sudden and finding no place to hide your shame?
No KJ would ever come forward to make a movie, a telling, spine-chilling narration on the celluloid, of five-year-old Seema, who saw her parents and brother being slaughtered by a butcher's knife in Doda. Because her dad was not Mr Khan. He was one Mr Kaul.

They were the agents of one Mr Jagmohan who planned their exodus so that Khans can be blamed falsely. In fact, a movie can be made on how these KPs conspired their own exile to give a bad name to the loving and affectionate Khan brothers of the valley.
To voice the woes of Kauls is sinful. The right course to get counted in the lists of the Prime Minister's banquets and the President's parties is to announce from the roof top: hey, men and ladies, I am Mr Khan.
The biggest apartheid the state observes is to exclude those who cry for Kauls, wear the colours of Ayodhya, love the wisdom of the civilisational heritage, dare to assert as Hindus in a land which is known as Hindustan too and struggle to live with dignity as Kauls. They are out and exiled. You can see any list of honours and invites to summits and late-evening gala parties to toast a new brand. When parents came to know about such ill treatment, they protested in front of the school. Local councilor Gopal held talks between the two sides and the Paadri assured that such a blunder will not be repeated.

A Foreign (Sri Lanka) Christian evangelist Gird Henna Phil held a three day (January 28, 29, 30) religious convention in Minjur Taluk, Tiruvallur District, Tamilnadu. Such an act was found illegal as it is prohibited under VISA Act u/s.7 (3) & 11. A local Hindu resident lodged a complaint with RDO but the authorities failed to act promptly.
