Sub : Dear CM act against Casinos as opposed when in Opposition
Dear Shri. Manohar Parrikar,
There is news about ‘MV Horseshoe’ the biggest so far casino boat sailing in Goa. It is expected that the new boat will have 1500 live gaming positions, restaurants and very high-end VVIP and VIP gaming areas.
Sir when you were in the Opposition you demanded that Shri. Digambar Kamat, the then Chief Minister, to move out the casinos. Now you are in power and with full majority. The matter of shifting of Casinos vessels is sub judice, but we were hopeful that after coming to power by overcoming all hurdles including legal by now the Casinos would have been driven out of Goa. But over this period you have asked for time to remove casinos and nothing concrete has happened in this regards. The news about ‘MV Horseshoe’ is creating anxiety in the minds of Goans and raising doubts about your seriousness on this issue.
Gambling a vice is a social evil and responsible for many a problems. It very much destroys the morality of an individual. For the sake of income of the State one cannot accept this immoral vice at the cost of morality. Goa is Cultural state and land of temples. You have reduced price of petrol for common Goans and given a significant relief but to collect revenue from immoral way is nullifying the result. One should think of families ruined from gambling.
We look forwards to prompt and concrete measures at your end in order to reassure Goans about your commitment to the issue.
