CHENNAI, JULY 2, 2012 : Andal, a foster child of Vishnuchitta or Periyalwar is one of the twelve Alwars of Vaishavite tradition. Andal also known as Godhai, eventually came to be known as the consort of Vishnu. She is regarded as Goddess. Her poetic talents were extraordinary and she composed ‘Thiruppavai’ consisting of 30 hymns and Nachiar Thirumozhi in 143 stanzas.

The month of ‘Margasiram’ known as ‘Margazhi’ in Tamil is the month of religious austerities and devotional singing. People of Tamilnadu rise up at dawn; go round the streets singing the bhajans of ‘Thiruppavai’ sung by Andal.

‘Manonmaneeyam Sundaranar University’ in Tirunelveli District of Tamilnadu has come in for severe criticism by prescribing a textbook on Andal. It describes Andal as ‘Devadasi’ and as ‘illegal child’ of Periyalwar, another Vaishnavite Saint. So ABVP protested against this. Denigration of Gods and Goddesses and sentiments of Hindu people should be stopped says the Office bearers of ABVP and Hindu Munnani and also demanded removal of the controversial pages from the BA I year text book. After the protest, the Government also ordered to remove the controversial pages from the text book.

हिन्दू देवी देवता को गाली देने वाली पाठय पुस्तिका को हटाया गया

चेन्नई, 2 जुलाई2012 : जिन बारह विष्णु भक्त संत को 'आल्वर' बताते है इन में से एक और इकलौती महिला संत श्री आंडाल भूमाता की अवतार मानी जाती है| ऐसे पवित्र देवी को तमिलनाडु के तिरुनेलवेली जिले में स्थित एम् एस विश्व विद्यालय के एक पाठय पुस्तक ने "वेश्या पुत्री" बताकर अवहेलना की है| इसको लिखने वाले दानिएल सेल्वाराज एक कम्युनिस्ट है| पुस्तक को स्वीकृती देने वाली समिति की अध्यक्षा है श्रीमती प्यूला कुमारी, जो इसाई है|

पढने वाले छात्रों के माता पिता गुस्से में आकर विश्व विद्यालय को सैकडों इ-मेल भेजकर, हिन्दू देवी देवताओं की अवहेलना असहनीय है यहाँ सूचित की| तुरंत विश्व विद्यालय को उस पाठय पुस्तक को वापिस लेना पड़ा| राज्य शासन को भी उस पुस्तक से विवादग्रस्त अंश हटाया गया है, ऐसी सूचना प्रकाशित करनी पडी| इस पुस्तक के बारे में जागरण कार्य अ.भा.वि.प के विद्यार्थी कार्यकर्ताओं ने किया| हिन्दू देवता को कलंकित करने के विरुद्ध हिन्दू मुन्नानी के कार्यकर्ता विश्व विद्यालय को घेरने गए, तब विश्व विद्यालय के रजिस्ट्रार ने आश्वासन दिया की उक्त पुस्तक वापिस लेने का आश्वासन दिया था|
