Bhubaneswar, 4 September
Staging an impressive rally here on the eve of Teacher’s Day, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad ( ABVP) said the state government should fill up vacancies in teachers posts, abolish the block grant system and extend grant-in-aid to all colleges.
The entire higher education system in the state has collapsed, teachers and students are the worse sufferers, said the student leaders drawn from different parts of the state. They blamed the Naveen Patnaik government for the ‘mess in higher education’ in the state.
Hundreds of teachers post are lying vacant, basic infrastructure is not there in many colleges and instead of addressing these problems, the Naveen Patnaik government is indulging in populist measures like distributing laptops to meritorious students, said state secretary of ABVP Mr Hitesh Sahoo.
