Saner voices warn Government; “Hands off Ram Setu!”
On one of the rare occasions a senior functionary in the Government, the Solicitor General Mohan Parasaran in his case has refused to appear for the Government in the Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project case on grounds of conscience. "I have faith that Lord Rama exists and he used this bridge,” Mohan Parasaran declared and refused to be party to destruction of Rama Setu.
Meanwhile Dr. S.Kalyanaraman in his statement from Chennai observes: “Environmentalists and marine biologists are aghast at the stand taken by the Centre before the Supreme Court that it wished to go ahead with the Sethudamudram Ship Channel Project (SSCP) in the original form, thereby rejecting the RK Pachauri Committee report that had recommended an alternative alignment since the proposed channel through the eco-sensitive Rama Setu (Adam's Bridge) was not feasible economically and ecologically. For the Government of India to now reject it owns committee's report makes a mockery of the rule of law in this country.”
