The State Swami Vivekananda Sardhasati Samaroh Samiti organised a massive marathon race, Bharat Jaga, here on the occasion of the World Brotherhood Day on Wednesday.

The marathon was flagged off from the Kalinga Stadium to the Nalco Square via the Jayadev Bihar route and retuned back to the Kalinga Stadium via the Nicco Park Square.

Local Corporator Naba Kishore Behera inaugurated the programme, which was held to create patriotic feelings among youths and awareness about their role in nation-building.

Over a thousand of youths along with several intellectuals, social workers, journalists, sportspersons and artists participated in the programme, said Samiti media coordinator Golakh Chandra Dash.

Among others, State football star Sradhanjali Samantrai, NCC Deputy DG Commodore BK Patnaik, founder of the Uttara Sarada Mutt Swami Pranarupananda Saraswati Maharaj, State manager of Vivekananda Kendra Surasen Jena, business director of Gridco Prasant Kumar Pradhan, Samiti State head Col Sarat Mohapatra and State secretary Dr Dhirendra Nanda attended the programme.
