Bhubaneswar-11.8.13. A meeting for celebrating state-level ‘Itihasa Dibasa’ was held under the auspices of the Bharatiya Itihasa Sankalan Samiti, Odisha on 11.8.13 at 6.30 PM in the premises of Buddha Mandira, Bhubaneswar. The day was observed in commemoration of the coronation cerymony of Kapilendradeva, the Suryavamsi Gajapati ruler of Odisha. Dr. Bimalendu Mohanty, former Vice-Chancellor, Utkal University of Culture, Bhubaneswar, Dr Dadhibamana Mishra, president of Bharatiya Itihasa Sankalana Samiti, Dr. M. M. Mohaptra, general secretary of the samiti were the chief guest, president and chief speaker for the occasion respectively. The chief speaker had thrown light on two important aspects of Gajapati Kapilendradeba’s reign, i.e, expanding the territorial limits to a vast Odishan kingdom from river Ganga in the north up to the river Kaveri in the south and by engraving about twenty inscriptions in Odia language and greatly patronising Odiya Culture and way of life.
On this occasion, three books, entitled ‘Bharatiya Kalara Viswarupa’, ‘Sanskruti Matruka Saraswati’and ‘Saraswati Nadira Kahani’ were relesed and their authors and translators were felicitated. Sri Amiya Bhusan Tripathy State co-ordinator, INTAC was also honoured on the occasion with the presentation of citation and memento ‘Prachi- Pragyan Samman-2013’. A large number of history teachers, researchers and general public with fascination for the subject had attended the meeting.
The meeting had come to a close after a vote of thanks proposed by sri Gopal Chandra Mohaptra.
