Bangalore, June 22: Karnataka’s one of the most reputed social service organisation Rashtrotthana Parishat has set another milestone, this time it is on Medical Healthcare. Rashtrotthana Parishat has initiatated “Rashtrotthana Rakta Nidhi (Blood Bank)” at Chamarajpet of Bangalore, its state Headquarters. Now, it is the number one blood bank of the state as far as total number of blood collected and transfused.
Blood Donation at Rashtrotthana Blood Bank
Rashtrotthana Parishat is an Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh initiative for social reforms in Karnataka. Established 18 years agao, Rashtrotthana Rakta Nidhi (Blood Bank) has colleceted blood from a total of 1,75,073 blood donors. The collected blood has been given to 1,31,593 patients. Rest of the blood were processed for PCV collections, serum separations etc. The total unit of blood collected till March 2012 is 2,89,321.
These figures make the Rashtrotthana Rakta Nidhi (Blood Bank) being the number one blood bank in state as far as number of unit of blood collected, claims its annual report.
Rashtrotthana Rakta Nidhi (Blood Bank) is an ISO certified blood bank, provides blood for the needy on a 24×7 service. In 2011-2012, so far the blood bank has collected 48,647 units of blood through various blood donation camps.

Rashtrottahana Parishat was started off in a rented building at South End Road in Bangalore in 1965. Now, it has turned out to be one of the leading social service organizations in the state. When the Parishat took on its task of social welfare, it was keen on retaining the essence of indigenous culture rather than grafting of alien ideologies and blind imitation of western methods.
