Bodo families ask to leave Barack Valley

Minority organizations issue fatwa
Karimganj : A fatwa has been issued by several minority organizations asking families of Bodo community residing in Barak valley (comprising of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi districts of Assam) to evacuate from the area by 25th of August, along with this they have also demanded that the advisor of All Assam Students Union (AASU) Sh. Samujjwal Kumar Bhattacharya be arrested. A press conference organized jointly by Imam Council and Maisa on Friday at Asimganj, in the city of Karimganj, saw several speakers speaking on the issue. In their address they blamed the inactiveness of Congress government for disturbances in the region. They also criticized Government of Assam for being ineffective in providing people here with adequate security. While renouncing the arrest of AASU advisor Badaruddin Ajmal, they questioned that “Should Ajmal be arrested only because he was helping Muslims?” President of Imam council and Maisa Abdul Basit and Salim Uddin have questioned that “Why did Samujjwal Bhattacharya kept silent while there were violence and riots spread in Bodo (BTAD) areas? They also alleged that the deadly weapons which were used during the violence were all provided by him (Samujjwal Bhattacharya). In this joint conference they said that the way in which Muslims are forcibly ousted from the areas, similarly Bodos would also have to leave the Barak valley. All Islamic organizations established in Barak valley will launch campaign for driving Bodos out of region.
The leader of Imam Council Abdul Basit and Acting President of Maisa’s Salim Uddin, Vice-President Abdul Ahmed, Kazi Maman and others present in this press conference echoed that if Bodos did not evacuate Barack valley before 25 August then they should prepare themselves for facing dire consequences. They also stated that it is very well known to them that how BDO in Patharkandi block of the district has been recruiting Bodos in various government jobs in large number. They also warned government with preventing such types of recruitment.
