BAN COW SLAUGHTER IN COUNTRY: SHANKARACHARYA

Bhubaneswar(vsk)Puri Gobardhan Pith Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswat during his three-day visit to Jagatsinghpur district attended several religious programmes. He demanded a ban on cow slaughter and consumption of cow meat besides strict action against illegal export of the meat to Arabic countries and Bangladesh.
He urged the Union and State Governments to implement strict laws to prevent cow slaughter in the country. Delivering his speech in a religious discourse at Gothada Mutt near Naugaon block on Friday, Swamiji said India is being culturally exploited even today.
There was an attempt to destroy Ram Sethu Bandha, while Ganga river water is being polluted, he said, expressing concern over the destruction of the Himalayas.
The Hindu religious mentor suggested that the Government should implement action plans to protect the Ganga river and the Himalayas and called upon all Hindus to get united and resort to
peaceful protest pressing Government to save old religious heritages.
"We seers are proposing to organise a mega conference and an action plan for protection of all Hindu religious institutions and monuments," Swamiji informed. While blaming politicians of the country, Swamiji said they are maintaining double standards on many issues.
Swamiji stressed that voters should first educate them about democracy and electoral process since then politicians are exploiting them because of their gullibility and ignorance.
Swamiji attended religious gatherings at Naugaon, Balikuda and Rghunathpur blocks, where he was greeted by several organisations and locals.
