Time is Running Out for Bangladesh’s Hindus, and for us

Time is Running Out for Bangladesh’s Hindus, and for us

September 30, 2013
Bhadrapad Krushnapaksha 11, Kaliyug Varsha 5115

If you suddenly found yourself in Germany in the early 1930s, knew what was going to happen in a few short years, and had a chance to prevent it, would you? Even if you were not certain that you could stop it, would you at least try? Adolf Hitler and his Nazis are gone, but the questions are just as important today.
Bangladesh’s Hindu population is dying. This is a fact; not opinion; not Islamaphobia; and saying it does not make anyone “communal.” According to Pakistan’s 1951 census, Hindus were just under a third of East Pakistan’s population. When East Pakistan became Bangladesh in 1971, they were less than a fifth; thirty years later, less than one in ten; and an estimated one in 15 today. If you still are having trouble wondering where this is going, take a look at Pakistan where Hindus are down to one percent or Kashmir where they are almost gone. Take a look at the future of Bangladesh’s Hindus if we do not act.
According to Professor Sachi Dastidar of the State University of New York, over 49 million Hindus are missing in Bangladesh. Are their lives or the millions still living there worth any less than the hundreds gassed by Syrian President Bashir Assad, who are now the reason for talk of a military strike; or the thousands of Bosnian Muslims whose plight sent NATO troops to war? No? Well, we seem to act as if they are. They number twice that of all Israelis and Palestinians put together. Compare the number of UN resolutions or major media articles and editorials about them with the number that concern Bangladeshi Hindus. That would be too many to count versus zero.
What has your government of India done to give aid to the victims? What has my USA government done? What has any government done? Nothing.
What have we heard from CNN, Reuters, the BBC, New York Times, Times of India, Times of London, the left-wing media, the right-wing media, or the other “important” media and journalists? Except for a day or two of headlines during nationwide Islamist attacks on Hindus that were too large to ignore—again, nothing.
What about the “great” human rights outfits that obsess on falsely demonizing democracies like Israel and leaders like Narendra Modi, but turn away in silence at the atrocities Bangladesh’s Hindus face daily? Amnesty International‘s human rights reports and articles leave us wondering if Bangladesh even has a significant Hindu population. Its 2013 report on Bangladesh, for instance, has sections on “Indigenous Peoples’ Rights” and “Workers’ Rights,” but nothing about the persecution of Hindus. The section labeled “Communal Violence” notes only one incident for the year, stating that “20 Buddhist temples and monasteries [and] one Hindu temple” were set ablaze. That’s it! It is the only mention of the word, Hindu, in the entire report. The last time Human Rights Watch gave Bangladesh’s Hindus even passing mention was 2006. Oxfam never has.
These same experts told us that the Awami League’s 2008 victory would bring a new Bangladesh where all citizens will live in peace and prosperity. Rubbish!
Awami League no better
In January 2009, a consortium of Hindu groups there asked me to advise them on what to do next. “The last thing you should do,” I said, “is to go back to sleep.” I urged them to act precipitously and push the Awami League to live up to its posturing as a “pro-minority” party, which is what won it the vast majority of Hindu votes. If you don’t, I said, “we will see that their words are nothing more than words.” Unfortunately, most of the Hindu leaders wanted to place their trust in the new government rather than in themselves: a bad decision that has proven deadly.
  • During the Awami League’s first year in office, major anti-Hindu incidents occurred at the rate of almost one per week.
  • The number and intensity of anti-Hindu atrocities did not drop the next year and included one period with anti-Hindu actions every three days.
  • The Hindu American Foundation, Bangladesh Minority Watch, and others document a similar level of atrocities in the third year, 2011.
  • As 2012 began, there were at least 1.25 similar incidents a week in the first quarter; as it ended, one a week during the fourth. In between, there was a nine day period in May that saw an abduction, a murder in broad daylight, and two gang rapes, one of a child on her way to a Hindu festival: four horrific crimes in nine days and no action against known perpetrators.
Human rights activist Rabindra Ghosh, my own associates, and I investigated and confirmed these incidents. They were reported in local media, yet major media ignored them. Each incident met all of the following criteria:
  • They occurred under Awami League rule.
  • They were confirmed by at least two independent sources.
  • They were anti-Hindu and not just random.
  • The government did not prosecute the crimes or help retrieve victims.
  • They were major crimes: murder, rape, child abduction, forced conversion, physical attacks, land grabs, religious desecration, and so forth.
In 2009, a three-day attack on a poor Hindu community occurred right behind a Dhaka police station. In 2012, angry Muslims stormed a tiny Hindu village in a remote part of Dinajpur in northern Bangladesh, destroying homes and farms, looting possessions, and abusing women. The government did not punish criminals in either, yet participated in cover-ups and threatened human rights activists investigating the incidents. I went to both places to see for myself, met with victims, and confirmed both the attacks and government complicity.
Anti-Hinduism enshrined in Bangladeshi Law
On April 30, 2009, Sheikh Hasina told a visiting French military commander that her government would repeal Bangladesh’s “anti-minority laws,” making her perhaps the first sitting Prime Minister in history to admit that her country has anti-minority laws. She has not kept her promise and even passed on easy opportunities to be the sort of Prime Minister we were told she would be.
Toward the end of the military’s rule, Bangladesh’s Supreme Court directed the government to explain why the Vested Property Act—that law which empowers the Bangladeshi government to seize minority land and distribute it to its cronies—should not be declared null and void. One of the ruling generals told me that responding would exceed its mandate; and, besides, there would be a new, elected government soon that could respond. It left that new government with the ability to neutralize that terribly racist law with the Court taking the political fall; but the Awami League refused to take advantage of it. In 2011, the Supreme Court declared several constitutional amendments problematic and directed the Awami League controlled Parliament to propose new ones. It did—for every amendment but one: the Eighth, which made Islam Bangladesh’s official religion, provided advantages and funding for Islamic institutions, disabilities and duress for other faiths.
Things are not improving, and they will not improve without outside intervention. In May 2012, I met with Bangladesh’s US ambassador in Washington for an honest dialogue about moving forward. He categorically denied that Hindus face any difficulties in Bangladesh no matter what facts I produced, and insisted that his government did not have to take any action. When I reminded him that demographers have said that the decline of his country’s Hindu population is so severe that it cannot be attributed to birth and death rates plus voluntary emigration, he attributed the decline to the fact that “they [Bangladeshi Hindus] “cannot find suitable matches for their children, so they go to India where there are more Hindus."
With no repercussions for their ethnic cleansing of Hindus, Bangladeshis do not even find it necessary to be credible in their denials.
In February 2013, I had the same sort of confrontation with Bangladesh’s Home Minister in Dhaka. He avoided the ambassador’s ridiculous explanation, instead denying his country’s guilt and equating the murder of Hindus with declining union membership in the United States. As I continued to press the matter, he said that if anything was happening, he would personally address it. He just needed me to send him the evidence, to which I responded: “It is rather odd that you, Bangladesh’s Home Minister sitting in Dhaka, would be dependent on some man from Chicago for evidence of human rights abuses in your own country. If that is the case, it suggests even more serious problems.”
That night, I met the family of a 23-year old Hindu woman who was abducted after they refused demands by thugs and local officials to abandon their land to them. I sent the extensive documentation and testimony to the Home Minister. To date, he has not even responded, and the young woman remains missing.

Phulbani: The Phulbani additional district & sessions court on Monday convicted seven persons in connection with Swami Laxamanananda Saraswati’s murder case. The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on October 3.
Additional District Judge Rajendra Kumar Tosh found the seven guilty and reserved the order for pronouncement of the quantum of punishment for October three.
The court is scheduled to deliver the verdict in case of two other accused Pulari Rama Rao and Somanath Dandasena in the case tomorrow.
The seven convicted are Gadanath Chalanseth, Bijaya Kumar Shyamseth, Buddha Nayak, Sanatan Badamajhi, Duryadhan Sunamajhi, Bhaskar Sunamajhi and Munda Badamajhi. Besides murder and criminal conspiracy, the seven were convicted under different provisions of IPC for offences including rioting with deadly weapons and unlawful assembly.
They were also held guilty under several provision of the Arms Act.
In view of possible tension, the district administration has tightened security in and around the court.
In 2008, Saraswati and four of his followers were gunned down on August 23 while celebrating Janmastami festival at Jalespata Ashram of Chakapada in Kandhamal, a tribal-dominated district.
The Hindu seer’s killing had led to widespread communal violence in Kandhamal claiming at least 38 lives, burning of several houses and damage to many churches.
More than 25,000 Christians were forced to flee their homes after their houses were attacked by mobs, who accused Christians for killing Saraswati.
Notably, twenty-five persons allegedly involved in the Kandhamal communal riots were acquitted by a local court in June 2012 due to lack of proper evidence against them.
In November last, a fast-track court in Phulbani had sentenced 12 people to six years' imprisonment after they were convicted of being involved in the riots.

Strengthen the confidence of Security forces’: RSS Chief Bhagwat at SANGH SANGAM in Jammu

Strengthen the confidence of Security forces’: RSS Chief Bhagwat at SANGH SANGAM in Jammu

September 30th, 2013, 4:12 pm
ammu, Sept, 29:  During his visit to Jammu, RSS Chief Dr.  Mohan Rao Bhagwat touched upon various issues concerning present overall political situation in general and the social and political scenario of Jammu and Kashmir in particular in his address at Parade Ground, Jammu. While eloquently touching upon the great legacy and culture of complex diversities that make this land a myriad land of cultural confluences, he said, it is incumbent upon all of us to safeguard and preserve such tradition.  This is unique to Indian ethos and values, the RSS Chief said.

Insinuating the statement made by J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with the European delegation wherein he purportedly said that the accession of Jammu and Kashmir with the Union of India was not final and that some conditions needed to be fulfilled on part of India, Dr. Bhagwat sought to remind him that the accession of J & K to the rest of India is not just by the “document of accession”. He reiterated that Kashmir has always been ours since times immemorial.  He referred to the glorious reigns of Hindu King Lalitaditya and those of the rulers before him.  This accession, said RSS Chief, was irreversible and irrevocable for all times to come.

Dr. Bhagwat also referred to Hiranagar terror attack and the Kishtwar happenings.  While paying profound tributes to the martyred Army Jawans, the slain policemen and the innocent citizens that died in the dastardly terror attack at Hiranagar and Samba, Dr. Bhagwat maintained that it is not just the responsibility of Army to safeguards our borders and defend our land from aggression but such duty lies equally with civilians . He said that we all have an equal stake and need to participate and contribute in our own little but significant ways to ensure that no harm befalls our motherland.  Till the time we are alert and united no harm can reach us.   We cannot depend just on government agencies for our security and defense and forget our own responsibilities, emphasized RSS chief.  Though Army Jawans have made supreme sacrifices and we, as a nation, are indebted to them, the need to be vigilant for us common citizens can never be overemphasized.   This becomes even more necessary when we speak of a troubled state such as Jammu and Kashmir, in which there has been exploitation and gross discrimination against people of Jammu region.
Mentioning the recent happenings at Kishtwar, Dr. Bhagwat said that it was a design by the political forces operating within the system to displace Hindus from their land and usher in their idea of unhindered anti-national polity.  This, he said, could be countered only by being ever vigilant and united.
Dr. Mohan Bhagwat sought to dispel the air of despondency by emphasizing upon the great legacy and culture that is bequeathed to us by our great ancestors.  There were times far worse than the present ones, but we have always prevailed.  It was the time that we repaid our debt to our Motherland by forging unity and fraternity within our ranks.  Dr. Bhagwat also said that the present fissures and divisions that plague our society is a culture alien to us.  It is a foreign infliction that we need to get rid of.   Hindus are, by their very nature and their timeless civilization, liberal and large hearted.   RSS Chief repeatedly invoked reference to Hindu ancestry and laid great stress upon to carry on that legacy and tradition further.
The goal of RSS is to inculcate and imbibe a sense of organizational spirit within an individual so he becomes part of one big family that is Bharat Mata.  In this context, RSS Chief recalled a saying of Rabindra Nath Tagore made during Bengal partition in which Tagore had said that the only path to Indian unity is the Hindu way of life.  This goal, maintained Dr. Bhagwat, could not be achieved as long as we remained divided and not bonded in brotherhood.  He also laid importance upon the need for selfless people and people with impeccable integrity and character to take upon the mantle of leadership at micro level so others could look towards them for guidance and inspiration.

MODI SLAMS RAHUL, ACCUSES HIM OF UNDERMINING PM'S AUTHORITY

MODI SLAMS RAHUL, ACCUSES HIM OF UNDERMINING PM'S AUTHORITY
Sunday, 29 September 2013
 New Delhi
  New Delhe

In
a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi, BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today accused him of undermining authority of the Prime Minister and asked people to decide if the nation will be run based on the Constitution or whims of the "prince".
Addressing a rally -- his first in the capital as BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate -- he said UPA was burdened by "governments within governments" which has been affecting the overall growth and development of the country.
"The pride of the Prime Minister has been brought down by his own party. Congress party Vice President has committed the sin of disrespecting the Prime Minister," he said.
Exhorting people to bring the 'dream team' of BJP to power in 2014, he asked them to throw out UPA which is "deeply entrenched" in corruption.
"Today the issue is whether the country will run on the whims of the prince or on the basis of the Constitution," he said, alleging that Congress leaders were "disrespecting" the Indian Constitution, Parliament, democracy and the Cabinet.
Launching a frontal attack on UPA, he said all political allies of UPA are running individual governments because of which nation's growth and development have been severely affected.
"This government is mired in corruption. Instead of finding solutions to problems, it has stopped functioning. This government is paralysed. The UPA government is immersed in Gandhi-bhakti. The Gandhi-bhakti refers to currency notes which they are collecting in tonnes," he alleged.
"Coalition governments are formed on arithmetic but run on chemistry. Till the chemistry matches, such government cannot do any public good. Though UPA coalition government is together, there is no coordination...Because of which the country is not moving forward," he said.
"The country needs a dream team in 2014, not this dirty team. This government has no vision - look at all the budgets and plans, only the dates change," he added.
Attacking the Prime Minister, Modi said, "UPA coalition is headed by a sardar but is not 'asardar' (effective)."
In his over an hour-long address, the BJP leader lamented that Manmohan Singh was projecting 1.2 billion-strong India as a "poor nation" before US President Barack Obama during his meeting with him yesterday.
"My head bowed in shame as the Prime Minister was seen begging by projecting India as a nation of the poor. Why did he not project India as a nation with 65 per cent of the people below 35 years of age? Is that projection of poor nation a state of the mind?" he said.
Modi said the nation has apprehensions whether he will be able to effectively take up India's concerns on cross-border terrorism and other issues during his meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today in New York.
He also alleged that Sharif had referred to Singh as a "village woman" during an interaction with journalists where Indian scribes were also present.
"How dare you (Sharif) address my nation's Prime Minister as a village woman? There cannot be a bigger insult of the Indian Prime Minister. We can fight with him on policies but this we will not tolerate. This nation of 1.2 billion will not tolerate its Prime Minister's insult," he said.
Modi said the country was in the grip of a "crisis" because of corruption and policy paralysis.
"The nation has been gripped by crisis due to corruption. It has not only affected the exchequer but it has also created a crisis when it came to the nation's future.
"More than 60 years after Independence, as compared to India smaller countries are doing better. We are regressing instead of progressing. Youth of this country want employment but this government is unable to do so. The NDA government had provided employment to six crore people in six years, and UPA between 2004-2009 has given employment to only 27 lakh people," he said.
Questioning whether the future of the youth was safe in the hands of Congress, Modi asked the younger generation to "throw out" UPA and the Delhi government led by the party.
Citing recent judgements in which the Supreme Court has used "harsh words" against the government, the Gujarat Chief Minister said the leaders of Congress and its allies are "unmoved" by such observations and made their comparision to an "alchoholic" who remained immune to any talk on the ill effects of liquor.
Referring to "lack of development" in the country in the last nine years, Modi made a comparision of infrastructure development between the UPA and NDA regimes and gave examples of expansion of the national highway and railway networks during NDA rule.
He said that the UPA government by giving a package of Rs 30,000 crore to the aviation sector had shown its "misplaced priorities".
Modi said he was "son of a poor family" and thanked the people allowing him to reach this position. "I was never a ruler, nor am I today. I am only your servant. Earlier also I was your servent. I will remain your servant in the future also."
He exhorted the people to have faith in BJP and believe in his work and that of his party workers, saying, "I assure you, neither Narendra Modi nor BJP will ever break your trust and let you down. We will never allow your dreams to be shattered. We will live for your dreams.
"For me my religion is -- nation first, India first," he said, adding that the Constitution of the country should be the only holy book for a government.
He also launched a direct attack on Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, saying she has a habit of passing the buck on all issues.
"The Delhi Chief Minister has the easiest job. All she does is cut ribbons at inaugurations. She has no responsibilities. If there are pot holes on the roads, she blames municipal corporations. If there is a law and order problem, she blames the Centre. She passes the buck up or down," Modi said.
Targeting Dikshit, Modi said India could not utilise the Commonwealth Games to project the country as a strong nation.
"The corruption relating to the Games cannot be seen in terms of finacial irregularities. The Commonwealth Games scam has robbed India of its sportsman spirit. Such games are a vehicle to show to the world brand India. But we could not do it because of mismanagement.
"Sports is a medium to showcase the country on a global platform. As for example, South Korea showcased itself in the Olympic Games and it aided in the country's development and attracted global attention. Our country has been robbed of such opportunities for the next 20 years," he said.
He also slammed the Delhi government for the shortage of electricity.

Anti-Hindu' ASI renamed the Shankaracharya Hill to Takht-e-Suleiman

'Anti-Hindu' ASI renamed the Shankaracharya Hill to Takht-e-Suleiman

September 28, 2013
Bhadrapad Krushnapaksha 8, Kaliyug Varsha 5115

Shankaracharya Temple, Srinagar
According to this Tribune news report, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has summarily renamed the Shankaracharya Hill to Takht-e-Suleiman overlooking the Dal Lake in Srinagar.  If this was not enough, the ASI has also presented a distorted version of the history of the Shankaracharya Hill on the tourist information plaque, a move which has justifiably outraged the Kashmiri Pandits. From that news report:
“It is a matter of great concern that ASI has given the name Takht-e-Suleiman (Throne of Solomon) to it, replacing the earlier plaque. How have they come to this conclusion warrants an answer,” said Predhuman K Joseph Dhar, an expert on ancient Kashmir history. He said recently a European historian visited the place and expressed surprise over information provided to the people.
Of course, there is no question that this move is politically motivated because it has no basis in history.  One wonders what is the connection between Suleiman/Solmon and Adi Shankara.
Even a layman in India knows that Adi Shankara travelled in all four directions in India and established Mutts in prominent places in each direction. That apart, he consecrated several other major and minor temples and other places of worship like in Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu, Kollur in Karnataka, and in Sharada in Pak-occupied Kashmir.
Kashmir indeed has a hoary history as one of the finest centres of learning in the world. In its heydays, it attracted scholars and philosophers from all parts of India. In the annals of the Hindu tradition, Kashmir was almost synonymous with “Sharada Desha” or “Sharada Peetha” or the Pedestal of Goddess Sharada (or Saraswati, the Goddess of Learning). A conclusive evidence of this exalted status of Kashmir can best be gleaned from the famous verse in praise of Saraswathi as
Namaste Sharada Devi Kashmirapuravasini ||
I bow to you, Goddess Sharada,
the One who Resides in the Kashmira country ||
This verse is so commonplace recited and heard by millions of Hindus daily across the world that hardly anybody gives a second thought at the rich historical heritage that’s embedded in it. And the credit for establishing Kashmir as the Sharada Peetha, to make it part of the nation’s cultural and spiritual DNA goes to Adi Shankara.
And it is this hoary heritage that the ASI has sought to destroy unceremoniously by renaming the Hill after some Suleiman based on a spurious history. Needless, in the process, real history has been made an unfortunate victim. From the same report,
“While the plaque informs the people that the roof of the temple was constructed by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1644 AD, there is no mention of King Gopadhari, who constructed the temple, King Lalitaditya, who renovated it several hundred years before the arrival of Islam in the 13th century, and Dogra rulers, who placed the lingam of Lord Shiva, which was destroyed at the orders of Jehangir’s wife Noor Jehan,” said Dhar
As for the spurious history,
Talking about the name Takht-e-Suleiman, New York-based historian and author of “Jesus in Kashmir- The Lost Tomb’, Suzanne Olsson, said at one time Kashmir was controlled by Jews and Suleiman referred to Solomon, King of Israel and one of the greatest Jewish rulers, known for his wisdom and riches. “In ancient times, there was a considerable influence of Hebrew people in Kashmir. Several places have names similar to Jewish places. But historically, it is referred to as Shankaracharya Hill,” Olsson said.
One wonders whether Suzanne Olsson even understands how she contradicts her own assertion. If Jews had indeed controlled Kashmir, why don’t we have a single piece of evidence to show for it? And second, she doesn’t quite explain why despite the Jewish control, the Hill was revered and renowned as the Shankaracharya Hill? And why doesn’t Rajatarangini, the most definitive account of Kashmir’s history mention the presence–let alone control–of Jews even once? And why haven’t the galaxy of scholars and litterateurs from Kashmir–Kalhana, Abhinavagupta, Anandavardhana, Kshemendra, et al–mention Jewish influence? The truth is the Suzanne Olsson happens to be the latest purveyor of the phony theory that Jesus visited/lived in Kashmir. Two definitive sources are sufficient to puncture Suzanne Olsson’s motivated claim about Jesus in Kashmir. The first is by the redoubtable Koenraad Elst, and the second by a Buddhist monk and scholar named Shravasti Dhammika who takes a close look into various Suzanne Olssonsesque myths about Jesus’ visit and stay in India.
All kinds of scholars making all kinds of fantastic assertions have existed since time immemorial. However, it is regrettable that the ASI, a body of the Government of India, chose to put out one such fantastic claim as the official history of a place based purely on political consideration. This does disservice not just to Hindus but to the nation’s precious heritage as a whole. More importantly, it is a dangerous portent. As we’ve seen in the case of the St. Thomas Church of Mylapore how an existing Hindu place of worship was appropriated by Christian missionaries through deceit and declared as one of the sites of Christian piety.
Given this, what is the guarantee that the “Takht-e-Suleiman” will not become a dargah or mosque some time in the near or distant future and thereby erase another living place of Hindu heritage permanently?

Hindu Rashtra Sena activists brutally beaten up for opposing anti-national Sanjay Dutt’s program

Hindu Rashtra Sena activists brutally beaten up for opposing anti-national Sanjay Dutt’s program

September 28, 2013
Bhadrapad Krushnapaksha 9, Kaliyug Varsha 5115
  • Mughal police of Pune !
  • Police wagging their tails before Raza Academy, show guts only to Hindus !
Pune (Maharashtra) - A program was to be presented for the first time for raising fund for police under the name of ‘Maharashtra Sanskrutik Darshan’ at 3.00 p.m. at Bal Gandharva Theatre. Few prisoners of Yerawada jail along with anti-national Sanjay Dutt were to present this program. (Sedition of Jail Administration by organising a program of anti-national inmates of jail for raising funds ! It is very shameful for the police that they have to hold such programs of prisoners for raising funds ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
Activists of Hindu Rashtra Sena gathered near Bal Gandharv Theatre to prevent glorification of anti-nationals and they started raising slogans against Sanjay Dutt. (Such patriotic and active workers are needed every where ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat) When these workers were going back, police suddenly started cane-charging them. (Why should police oppose demonstrations held against one anti-national ? Is anti-national Sanjay Dutt related to police in some way ? – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)When the activists made inquiry with the police, they were given a ridiculous reply by the police that ‘the persons cane-charging were not their staff.’ This has enraged Hindus and Shri. Dhananjay Desai, the President of Hindu Rashtra Sena has condemned such Mughal rule of police.
1. Senior Police Inspector Joshi informed the activists of Hindu Rashtra Sena gathered for staging demonstrations that ‘The program was cancelled due to some unavoidable reasons. Permission has not been granted for your demonstrations; so holding demonstrations will be illegal. Activists responded to Joshi’s contention in a positive manner and decided to wind up the demonstrations.
2. Activists set a flex board with Sanjay Dutt’s photo on fire; by then, police, present there in plain clothes, started to hit the activists with cane. (Why does police forget their bravery when fanatics stage agitations ? – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
3. The activists got scared due to such sudden attack. Few activists were taking out their vehicles when police snatched their keys and hit them very angrily. (Even during Mughal regime, Hindus must not have been oppressed in such manner ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
4. Many activists were injured in this attack. Shri. Ranjeet Yadav, Shri. Shivraj Swami, Shri. Swapnil Kadu, Shri. Kiran Salunkhe, Shri. Haddeshwar Garje, Shri. Datta Rokade, Shri. Ravi Jadhav, Shri. Yogesh Jadhav etc. were beaten up so cruelly that the canes were broken.
5. Later, the activists tried to file a case with ‘Bal Gandharv Police Chowky’ under the jurisdiction of Deccan Gymkhana Police Station; but ridiculous explanation was given by the police that the persons in plain clothes who were beating with sticks, were not from police department. (In that case, what were the police doing; why did they not take action against such persons for taking law in their hands ? Why they did not nab these persons ? Therefore, will it be wrong if people start doubting police? – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat) This contention of police quite confused the activists.
6. Activists lodged a complaint against the police. (Hindus lodge complaints with police even when police beat them up whereas fanatics take law in their hand and kill police ; but no action is taken against them ! - Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

Case will be filed against Yerawada Jail ! – Shri. Dhananjay Desai, Hindu Rashtra Sena

Sanjay Dutt has been proved as anti-national in Court and is undergoing sentence at Yerawada Jail; still why should he be glorified ? So far, Yerawada Jail had never held such program; but now, only because Sanjay Dutt is there, did they feel like collecting funds ? Today, if large fund is collected through one such program, programs will be held at various places and instead of being in prison, he will roam around in the name of programs. This is anti-national act. A case will be filed against Yerawada Jail. Perverted mentality like that of Sanjay Dutt, should not thrive in this country; therefore, such things have to be opposed. It is condemnable on the part of police to brutally beat up the activists of Hindu Rashtra Sena when they were demonstrating and exercising their democratic right. Police, who were thrashed while Raza Academy was rioting at Azad Maidan in Mumbai, however, brutally beat up Hindus. It is a sign of this country being ruled by mentally circumcised people. It is an attempt to see to it that in 2014 elections, pro-Hindu activists do not become dominant.

Parliament of the World’s Religions rejects Hindu celebration of Swami Vivekananda

Parliament of the World’s Religions rejects Hindu celebration of Swami Vivekananda

September 28, 2013
Bhadrapad Krushnapaksha 9, Kaliyug Varsha 5115

Philadelphia :  Rejecting a request from a coalition of over three hundred North American Hindu spiritual leaders, organizations, community leaders, and lay people, the Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions (CPWR) refused yesterday to join Hindus in Chicago to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The CPWR originally planned on being a co-sponsor of the celebration set for September 28, 2013, but then withdrew suddenly after receiving a complaint from an online based anti-Hindu group. The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) coordinated a letter requesting the CPWR to change course as local organizers worked towards reaching a compromise with CPWR, but the Parliament rejected the final requests late last night, prompting the only two Hindu members of the Parliament Board of Trustees to resign in protest today.

"At HAF, we are saddened that the Parliament, created in the very name of Swami Vivekananda, turned its bacok on the Hindu community and drew its own fault lines defining politics and religion,” said Suhag Shukla, HAF’s Executive Director. “The CPWR has decided to define political organizations arbitrarily, and must now take a hard look at every organization it has partnered with and that its trustees are associated with or represent.”

Shukla suggested that the CPWR immediately examine the ties Shaik Ubaid--the Muslim activist who claimed credit for forcing the Parliament to dissociate from the Chicago Hindu community in several Muslim media outlets-- maintains within the Parliament leadership. Ubaid works closely with the CPWR Chairman of the Board, Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, having co-founded a number of organizations and worked together in others.

In a major setback to the Parliament Board of Trustees, the only two Hindu trustees of the Parliament, Professor Anant Rambachan, Chair of the Department of Religion at St. Olaf’s College, and Ms. Anju Bhargava, Founder of Hindu American Seva Charities, resigned immediately after CPWR confirmed its unilateral decision to disengage from the community celebration.

"The decision to withdraw, made without consulting either one of us, has caused hurt and great disappointment across the Hindu world and especially here in the United States,” wrote Rambachan and Bhargava, in a letter released earlier today. “In spite of claiming neutrality, the Board chose to be influenced in its decision by giving credibility to complainants against its participation in the event and by showing no interest in considering or deliberating on the Hindu responses received.”

But while the CPWR boasted of a unanimous approval of its decision to refuse reversal, the resigning trustees also wrote, “We wish to clarify also that we did not participate in the Board meeting on September 24, 2013 when the Board approved its recently released resolution. For us, the heart of the matter is the Board’s unwillingness to consider any form of participation.”

"To completely ignore issues of fairness, transparency, and mutual respect raised by the Hindu community at large and the condescending tone of the announcement should call into question the Parliament’s ability to be a global leader in the interfaith movement,” said Mr. Pawan Deshpande, a member of HAF’s Executive Council. "Nonetheless, the silver lining in all of this is that it has brought together so many Hindus, across a broad spectrum of religious, cultural, and political backgrounds, to voice our collective concern.”
