Caste system saved Hindus - RSS chief

New Delhi (VISAKEO): Claiming that the caste system prevented disintegration of the Hindu society under Mughal and British rule, RSS chief K S Sudarshan on Monday asked Hindus to remain vigilant and stand united against clandestine attacks to weaken the community and confine it to the pages of history.
An invisible and silent attack is being waged against the community to weaken it from inside. We have to ramain vigilant against such attempts, he said after releasing a book written by Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy here. He said the country has slipped in a state of coma after the wave of foreign invasions right from Mughals to the British losing its focus and identity and called for a Hindu awakening. Hindus should awaken and search for their identity to defeat evil forces who are trying to destory their culture, he said and asked everyone to raise their voice against religious conversion. His views were echoed by Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati, who said visiting temples and participating in religious activities were not enough to save the religion. The book titled Hindus Under Siege - The Way Out speaks about the alleged clandestine defamation of Hindu icons and symbols, demographic restructuring of Indian society, systematic and continuing distortion of Indias history and terrorist activities targetted against Hindu community. The UPA government is soft on terrorism and is trying to divide the society on the basis of caste lines, Swamy alleged and called for Hindu renaissance in the country.
