Pujari takes a dig at Centre for ‘step-motherly attitude’ towards Orissa

(VISAKEO, 8/11) Elected State BJP president Suresh Pujari called upon party workers to fight against the UPA Government at the Centre for its step-motherly attitude towards Orissa. Pujari who took over charge from the outgoing president Jual Oram, MP at a public function here on Tuesday said the prime objective of the party will be to bring the Government to the people. The party will function as a bridge between the people and the Government.

Lambasting the UPA Government at the Centre, the youth leader from Western Orissa said the State has always suffered under Congress rule. While the NDA Government under the leadership of Atal Behari Vajpayee had opened up the national exchequer for the development of Orissa, the UPA Government has been neglecting the State even during the time of calamity, he added.

Asserting that the BJP has reached to the grassroots level of the State, Pujari said it is time to galvanise the party by reorienting the cadres. The party has to be people oriented, he said and pledged to achieve this.

Admitting that he could not sleep last night, Pujari said the new responsibility is like a mountain on his head. He, however, expressed his confidence to pass the test of the time with the support of the party workers and leaders.

The coming panchayat election is a challenge for the party to prove its organisational strength, he said adding, there is very little time for everyone in the party to face the challenge.

While appreciating the discipline among the party workers and leaders in the State for unanimously electing Pujari as the new president, National BJP secretary Vinay Kaiyar exhorted them to work in such cohesion during the next panchayat elections. The coming panchayat election should be a reminder to the UPA Government whose days are numbered.

National president of BJP Yuva Morcha Dharmendra Pradhan criticised the minority appeasement policy of the UPA Government and continued neglect of Orissa in the matter of providing assistance to the flood affected area and special assistance to KBK districts.

The meeting coordinated by Raj Kishore Das was also addressed by Minister for Law and Industries BB Harichandan, Revenue Minister Manmohan Samal, former union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, legislator and former minister Bimbdhar Kuanr besides Oram.
