Govt ‘twitting’, Chinese have a field day: BJP

Express News Service

The BJP on Friday hit out at the Centre for “letting Chinese incursions into Indian territory happen unabated even as those mandated with managing the country’s foreign policy were busy twitting”.

In a hard-hitting statement, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said “instances of Chinese incursions in the past three months alone have touched the 76-mark while the figure for the entire year in 2008 was 233”. “Those supposed to manage our foreign policy (on the other hand) are more engaged in the competitive politics of simplicity, the deplorable depiction of cattle class, which we condemn outright, and the dialogue on Twitter,” he said.

“During the NDA regime, China formally acknowledged Sikkim as a part of India; under the UPA Government, Chinese incursion is now happening near Sikkim,” he said.

Prasad also said China had used the “disclosure agreement” to prevent the ADB from acknowledging Arunachal as a part of India even “when the two countries had decided during the last visit of the Chinese Prime Minister that all issues would be resolved bilaterally”.
