PURI: After `khichdi’ and `gopal bhog’ in the morning, it was a smooth return journey. The gods must have enjoyed the 3-km hassle-free ride while the devotees perspired in scorching heat. But for the six lakh visitors, these were moments to cherish despite high humidity.
The ropes of all the three chariots snapped at various places causing some anxious moments. Some devotees and cops were injured.
As if the Trinity was in a hurry for `Bahuda,’ all the rituals were completed before time. `Pahandi,’ slated to be over around 1.30 pm, was completed by 11.45 am.
