Shri Anand Kumar a mathematics’ Teacher from Patna, Bihar is selected for Prof. Yeshwantrao Kelkar Yuva Puraskar 2010, among the various ones nominations received during this year from all over the country. Selection Committee of Yuva Puraskar 2010 has selected nomination of Shri Anand Kumar to in appriciation for “ Pioneering of ‘SUPER 30’ an ambitious and innovative educational program for the talented students from poor and backward section of the society ’’

Prof. Yeshwantrao Kelkar Youth Award has been instituted in 1991 to commemorate the inspiring life of the towering personality It is a joint Endeavour of ABVP and Vidyathi Nidhi trust. Its Objective is to encourage efforts of young social workers in various fields of public service, bring them in limelight and express gratitude towards them on behalf of the entire youth community .The Yuva Puraskar comprises of Rs 25000/ in cash, a certificate and memento. The number of Yuva Social Workers who are the recipients of this Yuva Puraskar, went to 22 since 1991 to 2009.










After completing graduation in B.A. Mathematics. Shri Anand wanted to pursue higher education in Mathematics. He also got an opportunity to study in the prestigious Cambridge University but sudden demise of his father and poor financial position did not allow him to take further study. Then he started teaching mathematics regularly as a source of income. Along with his friends he started offering tuitions to needy students from where the ‘Ramanujan School of Mathematics’ was started. Poverty all around him inspired him to do something for the talented but poor students. Anand Kumar met some of the talented students those who couldn’t pay their fees or even to get two time meals. He decided not to let go such a talent waste. He designed project where he would provide free food, lodging and free coaching to talented but poor students. Thus began ‘SUPER 30’ an ambitious and innovative program through which talented and meritorious students from poor and backward section succeeded in getting admission in I.I.T, India’s most prime educational institute. Since stating of ‘SUPER 30’, 212 students from poor backward families were succeeded in getting admission in IITs. Be it brick kiln workers, rickshaw pullers, landless farmers, roadside vendors and the likes, they all have experienced the change with sheer disbelief in their eyes that their children are now going to be top technocrats. Today Shri Kumar is ushering in a silent revolution in the backwaters of Bihar through his highly successful initiative ‘Super 30’. It is nothing but a befitting answer to the commercialisation of education.

‘ Prof Yeshwantrao Kelkar Yuva Puraskar 2010 ’ will be presented to Shri Anand Kumar by well-known music expert and Oscar prize winner Shri Rasool Pokutty on 28th Dec 2010 in the special function at 56th National Conference of ABVP which will be held at Bangluru (Karnataka) from 25th Dec 2010 to 28th Dec.
