Chattisgarh: Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram organised competitions for physically disabled

Jashpur Nagar, Chattisgarh Dec 08, 2012: Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram organised day long multi-fold activities on December 3, Monday,  for the physically challenged persons in Jashpur Nagar. A total of 167 physically challenged or differently-abled gathered at the Kalyan Ashram headquarters ground. Twelve of them participated in a drawing competition, while 18 participated in 100 metre race. Five boys and girls participated in a song competition. The dance by Kumari Mona received applause from all, while Vinod Ram Yadav stood first in 100 metre race. Kumari Seelmina stood first in drawing competition by making a bouquet by her legs, as she does not have hands. Bhanu Pratap Sai got first prize in song competition.

District Disabled Rehabilitation Centre distributed Braille watches, wheel chairs, hearing aids, etc. to the differently-abled people. Collector Shri Ankit Anand, CO Panchayat Shri Shyam Dhawde, CMO Dr BB Borde, DFO Shri Tiwari and Tribal Assistant Commissioner Shri Nagvansi gave away the prizes to the winners.
Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram vice president Shri Kripa Prasad Singh appealed to the people to come forward for the help of the differently-abled. Collector Shri Ankit Anand and MLA Shri Jageshwar Ram Bhagat appreciated the initiative on the part of the Kalyan Ashram.  (Inputs from Organiser)
