BMS SLAMS CENTRE, STATE FOR ANTI-LABOUR POLICIES

Bhubaneswar,25/2-The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) Jagatsinghpur district unit staged a demonstration in front of the Collector Office here on Wednesday pressing for fulfilment of a series of demands.
The body criticized both Union and State Governments for their several anti-labour policies and laws. “We demand minimum wage `15,000 per month for all workers, contractual employees, including scheme workers as Anganwadi workers, Mid-Day Meal cook, ASHA workers and para-teachers getting meager remuneration since years,” said Sangha secretary Akshay Kumar Das.
The members also demanded implementation of universal social security benefits and pension for all unorganized sectors, minimum wage of `500 for non-skill labourers, withdrawal of the Labour Law reforms, end to disinvestment in PSU and 100 per cent FDI in country and implementation of PF, ESI and other social security benefits for working classes.
Earlier, the Sangha members took out a rally from College Square to the Collector Office Parade Ground, where they held the protest meeting. Later, a memorandum was submitted to the district Collector addressing to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister.
