Bhubaneswa(visakeo): To win back the confidence and faith of the residents of riot hit Kandhamal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday announced a special package for the residents. A decision to this effect was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat.
As per the decision, Government would set up a B Ed College in Phulbani, the district headquarters of Kandhamal. Youth of the district will be imparted training in the college.
In order to boost horticulture, Patnaik also announced the setting up a training centre for horticulture. The training centre would encourage horticulture in the district. A nursery would also be set up in the district. Employment generated programme would also be taken up in this backward district. "A Technical Training Institute would also be set up in the district," Patnaik said, adding that with the help of the State Employment Mission, training programmes would be implemented for enhancing the skill of the unemployed youth of the district.
Meanwhile in a major breakthrough, the Balangir police arrested Haibar Nayak, the alleged mastermind behind the violence that erupted in Kandhamal on December 25 in which three people killed and 800 houses gutted. He belongs to Barkhamar of Baliguda Police Station of Kandhamal district. However, Nayak has denied all the allegations levelled against him.
