Overwhelmed response to Book Bank Project
The Redistribution program of book bank project was held on 21।02.2009 at Govt.L.P School, Dewsaw, Pynursla. The programme was started from 10:00 am. Bah Banteilang Rumnong the General Secretary of Sengkhasi (Kmie) Mawkhar,Shillong was present as chief guest of the function. Along with him, Bah Munujik Khongjirem President Sengkhasi Riwar Mihngi(Pynursla), Bah Phoin Khongtani(Sordar Raid Mawlam) and other respected personalities were present to witness this day. Bah Banteilang praised the selfless effort of the organization in helping the needy children. He encourages the students and parents not to take these books for granted but to toil for the sake of knowledge. He again said that these students are lucky to have an organization to support together with parents. Bah Munujik said that he was really moved by the good gesture of this group of youths from this organization to the downtrodden. He motivated the youngminds to aim higher by giving the example of Abraham Lincoln. Sordar of Mawlam glad to be in this programme and promised his readiness to associate himself in any time in the need of the organisation. Last year 112 set of text books were distributed to the students from 43 villages. With increasing demand from parents and encouragement from various organizations and headmen of the area for this year the no of beneficiaries increased to 170 students from 60 villages. The programme concluded with vote of thank from Babu Jeffree Khonglam Teacher Sengkhasi School,Pynursla followed by refreshment to all.
