BJP demands unconditional apology from PM, Sonia
Bhubaneswar

Condemning the orchestrated policing approach by the UPA Government at the Centre to foil the Satyagraha of Baba Ramdev against black money and corruption in high places in New Delhi at the dead of the night of June 4, the BJP on Wednesday demanded unconditional public apology and explanation to the nation by AICC chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

“The use of repressive measures in Ramlila Maidan is reminiscent of the Jaliwanawala Bagh massacre as the action was unwarranted and disproportionately brutal. This was a premeditated decision taken with a malicious intent to prevent the heat of strong action against corrupt reaching the power centre of the Congress Party”, said

BJP national secretary and in charge of Odisha affairs, Santosh Gangwar.

Addressing a Press conference here, Gangwar slammed the Prime Minister for his justification for the indefensible police action describing it as insensitive and numbing. “The apathy and an absolute lack of concern displayed by the Prime Minister is shocking and smacks of an increasingly authoritarian mindset evident in the conducts of the Congress party leaders.

He lamented that so far neither Sonia Gandhi nor heir apparent Rahul Gandhi has condemned the wave of suppression unleashed across the country by the Congress -UPA Government. “This shows full complicity and connivance of the Congress President”, Gangwar said and demanded that Sonia and Manmohan owe an apology and explanation to the nation for the naked attempt to deny the basic and fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution of India.

He pointed out that while Sonia and Rahul raised the matter of police atrocities on farmers in Bhatta Parsaul, they had not shown similar zeal in condemning the police brutalities on Satyagrahis.

To a question, he said that BJP was not backing Ramdev but supporting the issue for which the yoga guru was fighting for. There is nothing politics, he clarified.

Gangwar alleged that corruption had become the distinctive hall mark of Congress -UPA Government at the Centre .and the string of exposes and multitude of scams related to Common Wealth Games, 2G scam and Adarsh Society has proved it. “Each and every action of UPA regime is steeped in deep corruption and a total complicity to condone and shield the guilty is being most willfully shown”, he decried.

He said while the Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi kept on justifying and denying any wrong doings, only the Government took some action following the intervention of the Supreme Court.

Among others, BJP state president Jual Oram, party spokesperson Asok Sahu were present. Oram said the party’s ongoing fight against corruption through its Bhrastachar Birodhi Samavesh across the State would be completed by August 15.
