Bhubaneswar: State unit of Bahujana Samaj Party on Tuesday took to
street and held a demonstration in front of the State Assembly
demanding various welfare measures and social justice to dalits, STs,
SCs, and minorties. The Party submitted a memorandum to Governor MC
Bhandare ueging his personal intervention into the issue. Party's
State president and former Union Minister Bhajaman Behera alleged that
successive Governmnets in the State have been downplaying the plights
faced by the dalits and people of back-ward classes including the
minorities. Both Government and Political leaders are only cheating
them and exploiting them for vote bank politics, he said. He further
said the Government should not go for tribal displacement and give
forest land rights to them as per the Supreme Court directive.
