Bhubaneswar:(visakeo)- Eastern Zone on Sunday led the medal tally with
seven gold medals in the second of the 20th national School Games
being organised by the Bidya Bharati here at the Kalinga Stadium.
Besides, Rajasthan zone and West-North Zone shared three gold each
while Bihar Zone and North-Zone managed secured two gold medals each.
Anup Naraha of West-North Zone secured the first position in Under-14
400 meters run (Boys) while Suman Tiga of Bihar Zone won the gold
medal in the Girls' category of 400 meters run. Similarly, Jitendra of
West-North Zone and Jostna Debashi of Rajasthan Zone secured first
position in Long-Jump in Boys' and Girls' category respectively. In
Under-17 400-meters run, Kabit Pal and Soni Kumar of Eastern Zone
secured first position in Boys' and Girls' categories respectively. In
3,000 meters run, Eastern Zone's Aswani Kumar Yadav and Uma Kumar of
Bihar Zone secured first postion in Boys and Girls' category. In
Under-19 400-meters run, Birendra of North Zone and Punam Yadav of
Eastern Zone bagged first position in Boys and Girls' category
followed by Durgesh of West-North Zone won gold medal in 5,000 meters
run while Priti Singh got gold in Girls' category. Sushil Prdhan of
Eastern Zone secured first position in Shot-put Throw followed by
Yogesh Kumar of Eastern Zone secured first position in 1,500 meters
run.
Organisers including SVS president Dr Prafulla Chandra Mohapatra, WODC
Chairman, Dr Niranjan Panda and SVS secretary Ramesh Chandra Tripathi
were among those monitoring the games. The games would conclude on
November 27, in which Governor MC Bhandare is expected to witness
