Hindu philosophers unite warring politicians

Hindu philosophers unite warring politicians

Speaking at a function on Sunday (August 9) at Bengaluru (Karnataka), Chief Minister B.S.Yeddyurappa said the governments of both states should work together to ensure that crops do not perish for want of water be it in Karnataka or Tamilnadu. Speaking in the same vein, Tamilnadu Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi said that whoever works for the society is my friend. Whatever party we belong to, it is the feeling of being Indians that inspires us all to work together. The statue of Saint Thiruvalluvar, born in Tamilnadu 2000 years ago was unveiled on the occasion.

Tamilnadu responded to this gesture of Karnataka in a fitting manner. The Statue of the philosopher by name Sarvajana born in Karnataka two centuries ago was unveiled in Chennai on August 13, 2009 in the presence of these two Chief Ministers. It is noteworthy that both the States used to quarrel over sharing of the Cauvery River water for many decades. Such neighbours have come together possibly by the strength of Hindu philosophy lived by Sarvajana and Thiruvalluvar.

How Hindu life style saves life

After the dreaded Swine flu has claimed its first victim — a four-year-old boy in Chennai, Westernized socialites and party regulars in the city are being extra cautious. They follow the traditional Hindu life style of greeting each other by joining their hands together and say ‘Namaste’. Doctors have advised not to hand shakes as it is communicable to spread swine flu.
