Agyan Mala Puja held at Jeypore

The Sadosho Dussehra Puja started at Jeypore on Mulashtami and to celebrate the grand Dussehra Mahotsav, Puja Committee chairman and local MLA Rabi Narayana Nanda performed the puja at Maa Bhagabati temple here.

He received the Agyan Mala from Goddess Maa Bhagabati and handed over it to Paresh Rath and KC Sahu to invite all the Lathis of different Shakti Pithas of undivided Koraput district to attend the historical Jeypore Dussehra Mahotsav.

The symbol of deities called Lathis of Maa Bhairabi, Maa Pendraghariani, Maa Moulimma, Maa Bhandar Gharini, Maa Budhi Thakurani including about 75 Lathis will congregate during the current Dussehra Mahotsav, informed Nanda.

A documentary film will also be produced during the Dussehra Mahotsav and all the Lathidharis and Sevayats will be honoured with Sirapa (headgear), Nanda said.

On Mahastami, all the Lathis from different rural areas will reach Jeypore and on Bijaya Dashami attend the procession called Bijaya Patuara along with the Pratima Biman of Goddess Bhagabati and Kalika Devi.

Later, Maa Basantai Patuara will join the Bijaya Patuara and the Patuara will reach at the Dussehra Ground to perform the traditional Aparajita Puja on the early hours of Ekadashi.

Bijaya Bhramani Yatra will start from October 8 to15, Chaturthi Kalparamva will start on Panchami and Sasthi Puja will be held on 11and 12 and Saptami Puja with Nishardha Ashtami Dwidana Kalparamva Bali Puja on 13, informed Devottar Officer and Tehsildar Maheswar Nayak.

From 14 to 22, Mahashtami Puja, Nabami Sandhi Puja, Bishram Puja, Purnahuti, Dussehra Aparajita Puja, Devi Yatra and Santi Puja called Kothasitalani respectively are being slated, Nayak further informed.

During the performance of Agyanmala Puja before Goddess Bhagabati, among others, Puja Committee members Bharat Pattnaik, Ramakant Roul, Durga Mishra, Ramanath Mishra, PA ITDA Mukund Kisan and Tehsildar M Nayak along with representatives of different media were present.
