Channelisation of  energy to build a stronger Nation
61st national conference of ABVP begins in Odisha capital
BHUBANESWAR: The four-day 61st national conference of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) began at the SOA University premises here on Thursday. 
Inaugurating the convention, eminent economist Bibek Debroy said, “Development of the country not only depends on the Government but vastly on the youth power, which accounts for a major part of the country’s development.” Eminent economist and member of NITI Ayog Bibek Debroy called upon members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) to channelise their energy towards building of a stronger nation.
Inaugurating the 61st national conference of ABVP here, Debroy said it is not only the job of the Government but also the responsibility of every student and youth of the country in making a stronger nation.

 Without referring to the debate on intolerance, Debroy said he is a proud Indian. “It is a country we are proud of. For the first time, we have a leader (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) who has brought optimism and enthusiasm among people,” he said.

Writer Amish Tripathi said, “The youth should not run after modernity. Instead they should focus on their family, culture and country.” Around 2,000 students and teachers from 500 universities across the country have participated in the national meet.
In his brief speech, celebrated writer Amish Tripathy said the youths of the country have vast potential to bring rapid transformation in the society. But they need to be law abiding. “We are not law-abiding people. Some people take pride in breaking laws. This is not good for civilised society,” he said.
Stating that opportunities have opened up in the country, the author of ‘Shiva Trilogy’ said now anyone can pursue his dream and make good living out of it which was not possible a decade back. Tripathy said he left his banking job to pursue writing because the royalty he gets from his books are more than what he was earning.
National president of ABVP Nagesh Thakur and general secretary Srihari Borikar spoke about the activities of student wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in nation building.
Alleging that a section of people having Left leanings has been trying to create vicious atmosphere in the country by raking up issue like ‘intolerance’, Borikar said these people are unable to digest the success of NDA Government.
Reacting to the statement of actor Aamir Khan, Borikar said, “If the youths of the country can make him hero, they can also make him zero.”
Among others, Chairman of the reception committee and former chairman of AICTE Damodar Acharya. ABVP national president Prof Nagesh Thakur, national general secretary Shrihari Borikar and national organising secretary Sunil Ambedkar were present.
