Forum For Justice submits report to Orissa Guv
Bhubaneswar:(visakeo) Forum For Justice, a Hyderabad based Human Rights Group on Saturday submitted a detail report on the killing of Swami Laxmananda Saraswati and subsequent violence in Orissa's Kandhamal district.
The human rights group submitted its report to Orissa Governer MC Bhandare here and saught his intervention to slove the ethenic violence in the tribal dominated district since the death of Swamiji.
Adressing a Press Conference here , FFJ president and Former Judge of AP and Kerela High Courts, Justice DJ Jagannadha Raju and general secretray N Rajeshwar Rao blamed church for the present crisis.
The outfit in its recomendations, however demanded to identify and nab the killers and conspirators of Swamiji. It also demanded strict laws to stop fake certitificate issues in the district.
"The Government should implement the Orissa Freedom of Religion Act of 1967 and the Orissa Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act of 1960," Justice Raju said.
He further added that the State Government should also take firm action and appropriate steps to protect the traditions, culture and rights of Kondhs and thier religiuos sentiments. He also sought better facilities for the Kondh tribe in education and employment sectors.
FFJ general secretary Rao urged the Orissa Government to strictly monitor inflow of foreign funds to NGOs and Church backed organisations working in Kandhamal. Unless and untill, the Government nab the killers and conspirators, tension may continue in the district, he added.
Earlier, FFJ had sent a fact finding team to take stock of the situtaion. The team comprising Justice A Gopal Rao, former Judge of Andhra Pradesh High Court, RC Venkateswarlu, former IGP, AP and N Rajeswar Rao visited Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, besides Phulabani, G Udaygiri, Tikkabali, Baliguda, Jalespata Ashram, Tumulibandha Police Station and Raikia areas of the riot hit district before finalising thier report.
The team interacted with so many people of both Hindu and Christian Community. It also held talks with social scentists and academecians to reach to the root cause of the ethenic violence.
