Bhubaneswar -After the 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai, Government of India is leaving no stone unturned for strengthening security, especially on the Indian coastline both in the east and the west. Therefore, joint security exercises are being carried out every three months at different points of the sea coast for keeping all three wings of the armed forces and the paramilitary forces, besides police, battle-ready.
Accordingly, on the sea coast of Paradip Port a joint war exercise,  MADAT, 2012 against terrorist attacks began on September 26 in which Paradip Port Trust Marine Department, Indian Coast Guard, Paradip Marine Police, Odisha State Fisheries Department, PPT Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indian Navy and for the first time, Indian Army are participating.
These agencies will be carrying out mock drills, mock attacks on merchant ships and various mock attacks on civil establishments to keep people on alert in case of any such real incident. This exercise will continue at Paradip till October 7. The Gopabandhu Stadium at Paradip has been converted into an army camp with thousands of army jawans along with their vehicles.
These joint exercises will go a long way in advanced training of the local security agencies and boosting their morale.
