If BSY can quit, why not Hooda?'

If BSY can quit, why not Hooda?'
New Delhi

The BJP has sought the resignation of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda over “illegal” denotification and lease of Gurgaon land to Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust and demanded a thorough investigation into it. Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, her son Rahul Gandhi and daughter Priyanka Vadra are trustees of this body.

“If BS Yeddyurappa could resign over the land row, Hooda should also resign. An independent inquiry should be done and all such allotments and acquisition during Hooda Government’s tenure should be probed,” said BJP chief Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday.

The Opposition party also used the opportunity to hit out at Rahul, who is spearheading a campaign against the Mayawati Government over land acquisition. “On one hand, Rahul Gandhi is doing drama by undertaking padyatra in Uttar Pradesh, while on the other, the Congress Government in Haryana was indulging in such activities,” Gadkari said.

The Gandhi family is charged with taking more than 5 acres of panchayat land in Haryana’s Ullahawas village on lease for a rent of Rs 3 lakh per annum.

“All laws were set aside by the Hooda Government to give this land, worth Rs 50 crore, on lease to the Gandhi family. The land was denotified before it was leased to Sonia, Rahul and daughter Priyanka. Why these double standards for the Gandhi family?” Gadkari asked.

Insisting that the BJP would appeal to the Punjab & Haryana High Court to investigate all aspects of this deal by a special investigation team, Gadkari pointed out that during court proceedings, when the judge wanted to know names of the trustees, lawyers were reluctant to name Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi.

“When we want land for the Deen Dayal Trust there is a hue and cry, but not for this Trust. Why this drama about land acquisitions? On the one hand, they are fighting for land rights and on the other they are taking away this land. The matter should be investigated,” Gadkari said.

Asked if BJP would raise this issue in Parliament, Gadkari said he has raised his voice on this matter and his party would bring it up in the House.
