Keonjhar rallies behind Anna

Keonjhar

Keonjhar citizens came out on the roads on Tuesday to protest against the arrest of Anna Hazare in New Delhi. Representatives of 40 different organisations and associations gathered near the Gandhi statue close to the Town Hall to demonstrate against the police action on Hazare. After exchange of views, the citizens resolved to continue their support for Hazare and the Jan Lok Pal Bill until it is accepted by the Central Government.

At noon, hundreds of people joined the mass campaign against corruption under the banner of the Keonjhar Jan Lokpal Bill Supporters’ Committee. After the rally reached the district collector’s office, many more people participated in it to form a human chain.

In the evening, a number of young activists also went in a silent march with lighted candles in their hands to express their solidarity with Hazare.

The Keonjhar Bar Association, Citizens’ Forum, RSS, Patanjali Keonjhar Samiti, Bharat Mazdoor Sangh, Nagarik Suraksha Manch, Uttar Odisha Bikash Manch and Progressive Citizens’ Forum were among the 40 organisations which joined hands to carry the pro-Jan Lokpal Bill movement in Keonjhar forward in the coming days.
