Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) stages dharan in front of Raj Bhawan

‘INCLUDE ODIA, SANSKRIT IN MODEL COLLEGE COURSE’

Bhubaneswar,28/6(vsk)The Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) staged a dharna in front of the Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday demanding inclusion of Odia, Sanskrit, History and Philosophy as optional subjects in the Model Degree Colleges in the State.
ABRSM eastern region head Dr Narayan Mohanty said that depriving Odia students of reading their glorious history, all-transcending literature and unparalleled philosophy would lead to the crippling of the Odia race in future.
The Odisha Government has established eight Model Degree Colleges in the State with three compulsory subjects and five optional subjects in which Odia, Sanskrit, History and Philosophy have not been included as optional subjects, Mohanty pointed out.
The ABRSM demanded that the Government include these subjects in the courses of study at the earliest and also submitted a memorandum addressed to the Governor raising the issue.
Among others, ABRSM all-India convernor Mahendra Kumar was present.
