In Razapur, Jhalakati District, Bangladesh Local Awami League Political Leaders Grabbed Omio Bala’s Funeral Pyres and his father’s property with the help of Government Officials, Hindu Family Faces Insecurity
Last Monday at noon, two local Awami League political leaders named Shipon & Kabir along with  50 other people came to the Bala family home, declared it enemy property, and began seizure of the land. The victims claimed that the UNO Mahbuba Akter (Government Officials) are joined with this inhuman purpose.
Terrorists forced the Bala family to leave their lands, when the family refused to do so, they tortured them. The terrorist team surveyed the land and blocked it off with barbed wire. The officials declared that they’d gotten this land in a lease from the Govt. UNO Office, but team leader Shipon couldn’t show any lease papers to journalists.
Omio Bala’s son Onimesh Mistry said that their family has already filed a previous case against the government for illegal land seizure, but now the administration has declared the Bala’s property as “Enemy property”, which is legally seized in Bangladesh. The victims are confused since because they already have a case filed to keep their land,  how could the local UNO office sanction the lease papers? Again, the land grabber team couldn’t show any land survey papers but claimed they had UNO approval.
When our news team went to the UNO office to talk with the officer, she wasn’t there.  The news team contacted her via cell phone and she said she didn’t know who is the owner of the property, but that it’s government property and that’s why she sanctioned the lease papers. When the news team wanted to know about the Bala family’s continuing case involving their property  in the Jhalokathi Court, the UNO Officer said she didn’t know anything about this matter and then hung up.
The OC of Razapur , Mr. Nazrul Islam has for the meanwhile restored the Bala family to their land. Stable conditions has been declared there for the present time, still the Bala family and countless other Hindus face continuous threats by similar land grabbing perpetrators and Bangladesh’s generally insecure conditions.
