Jumbo menace in Chilika

BHUBANESWAR: (visakeo)The peripheral villages of Chilika, one of the finest bird-watching sites in India, today saw a herd of elephants unleashing a reign of terror, killing one person and injuring four others. The jumbos - seven in number - which have strayed out of Chandaka Wildlife Sanctuary near the Capital City, were holed up in the mudflats near Aredi village bordering the lagoon.
As some curious villagers went too close, the pack of pachyderms drove them away. A 60-year-old man, after sustaining grave injuries, died while four others sustained injuries. Two of them, including a child, have been shifted to SCB Medical, Cuttack while two more are admitted to Khurda Hospital and Capital Hospital.
