Lord Jagannath is universal deity

Bhubaneswar:(visakeo)- Noted historians and researchers on Sunday lauded the significance of Lord Jagannath and turned the Lord as universal deity. Speakers were delivering their views at a seminar on 'Sri Jagannath through the Ages' jointly organised by the Orissa unit of Akhil Bharatiya Itihasa Sankalan Samiti and Utkal University here at the PG Council Hall. Gajapati Maharaj Dibya Singh Deb said "Lord Jagannath is beyond history and arguments. One has to go beyond history to realize him," National organizing secretary of the Samiti Hari Bhau Vaze cautioned the scholars to stay away from vested interest, who are distorting history to divide people. Scholars being engaged on research on Lord Jagannath in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Assam, West Bengal, Orissa, Rajasthan, Maharasthra and several other places joined the seminar and shared their views. Former VC of Jagannath Sanskrit University Trilochan Mishra coordinated the seminar. BISS president Narayan Rao, Prof AC Sarangi, Prof GK Das, Sirish Kumar Nayak, Prof Himansu S Pattnaik, Dadhibaman Mishra, Prof Braja Kishor Swain, Prof SN Tripathy, Prof UK Subudhi, Dr Sharad Hebbalkar and Dr Sirish Chandra Parida were among those present .
