Jagannatha Vigraha Pratishtha karyakram was held at Kondapada




On 2nd 3rd and 4th of this month Jagannatha Vigraha Pratishtha karyakram was held at Kondapada a girijan village in Munchingput mandal of Visakhapatnam District on the auspice of VHP Purvandhra. A sobha Yatra was started at 10.30AM on 2nd from Modakondamma Padalu at Minimuluru and concluded at Munchigiputtu at 7.00PM. covering about 15 villages in 60 kilometers. This yatra drew tremendous response from the tribal people. On the veryday Gangapuja started at 8PM. in which 21 kanyas carrying kalasas participated to bring water from nearby water resouce in the hills.

On 3rd June Suryaraadhana, hawan performed by the pundits who arrived from Puri Jagannath for this purpose. This team of pundits include Manya Mahoday Dr. Siddeswar Mahapatra the chief purohit of Puri kshetra and Pundit Sharat chandra khadanga.

On 4th there was a sarvajanik sabha in which the following adhikaris participated.

Pranta Karyadhyakh - Purvandhra.

4. Mananeeya M. Hanumanta Rao
Pranta Karyadarshi - Purvandhra.
5.Mananeeya Devarala Sanjeevaih
Saha Sanghatana Karyadarshi - Purvandhra.
6. Manya Mahoday Dr. Siddeswar Mahapatra
chief purohit of Puri Jagannath Mandir.
7. Mananeey Pramod Acharya of Puri.

11 Shrimadbhagavat books to 11 odiya speaking villages and 10 Shrimadbhagavat books to 10 telugu speaking villages were presented in this sabha. An appeal was made to these villagers to start daily Bhagavat Satsang in their villages.

The programme was concluded with Purnahuti and installation of new idols in the Mandir.

About 3000 people participated in this programme with devotional fervor. Hari nama sankeertan throughout the night, Dhimsa dance by the ladies and women of the area are some of the remarkable events of the programme. People of many villages directly participated in the karyakram right from cleaning the yagasala and temple premises to make arragements to the guests and other participants from the city.
