Bhubaneswar,11/5:-The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has slammed the authorities of the Utkal University for their decision to go in for offline admission this year.
The authorities decided in favour of offline admission this year following the hacking of the website. To cover up its inefficiency, the university has taken this decision, said Parishad’s Vani Vihar Nagar coordinator Prabhudutta Samal at a Press meet on Wednesday.
Though colleges in the rural areas are conducting the e-admission process through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) for last four years, why should the oldest university go in for offline admission, the members questioned.
Some students in their own interests were pressurising the university to adopt the offline mode and the authorities agreed to it, they alleged.
The university is losing its importance among the applicants from outside Odisha, even from the abroad, Samal said.
The ABVP demanded a rollback of its decision, failing of which the ABVP would launch an agitation, he warned.
