Devarishi Narad Jayanti Celebrated in Manipur

Manipur (VSK). Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Manipur organised the 4thDevarishi Narad Jayanti on 22nd May, 2016 at Manipur Dramatic Union Hall, Imphal. The celebration was graced by Yumnam Rupachandra Singh, Chief Editor, Impact TV, as Chief Guest, Amusana Sharma Shastri, Retired Manipur Sanskrit College, Principal as Guest of Honour and presided over by A. Brajakumar Sharma, President, Vishwa Samvad Kendra.
As an inevitable part of the celebration, Journalism Award instituted by Vishwa Samvad Kendra was conferred to Langpoklakpam Shyamjai Singh, Indian Information Service (Retired). The function was formally organised with lighting of lamp, honouring of the dignitaries and offering floral tributes to Bharat Mata and Devarishi Narad. A Sanskrit devotional song was presented by Dineshwar Singh. Dr. S. Kulachandra Singh in his welcome and keynote address highlighted the activities taken up by the Kendra. More so, two handouts were distributed to the audience, one on the aims and objects of Kendra and the other an article of Devarishi Narad, authored by Dr. S. Kulachandra Singh, Kendra Pramukh.
vlcsnap-error232The Chief Guest has been assigned to deliver a speech on “Impact of Journalism in the present society with reference to Devarishi Narad”. In his speech, Chief Guest has given the role of media, ethics and its sincere works which can give lesson to the society and of the paid service of media etc. In his speech as the Guest of Honour, Amusana Sharma Shastri has travelled to the earlier system of journalism in the older times and it relevancy as on today.
Shyamjai Singh has expressed his gratitude on honouring him with Journalism Award and shared his past experiences to the audience. A. Brajakumar Sharma, in his Presidential speech appealed to the media communities to work on with a sense of dedication and to rectify the social evils and lead a balanced life. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Salam Rupachandra Singh, Trustee of the Kendra, which is preceded by Vande Mataram song sung by Dineshwar Singh.
Function was attended by former Journalist Awardees, College Teachers, Journalists, Politicians, Swayamsevaks, Students and others. The programme was indeed a successful one and it has been covered in the local dailies the next day.
