600 GIRLS WORSHIPED AT SPIRITUAL FAIR

Bhubaneswar,16/12:Paying respect to and worshiping women as mother and goddess, respectively, are two essential strengths of the rich Indian tradition. Women remain to be the pivotal point of the Indian society and culture, and, hence, sustenance of traditional values of holding them in the highest regard can always protect girls and women.


Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha’s (RSS) Khetraprahcarak  Pradeep Joshi opined this on the occasion of a programme, Kanya Pujan, held at the ongoing Hindu Spiritual and Service Fair at the Baramunda ground here on Friday. The fair is being organised by the Initiative for Moral and Cultural Training Foundation (Odisha).
As many as 600 girls were worshiped in a special way by boys with flowers, earthen lamps and sandal pastes.
“Modern values impacted by Western education mayn’t give due importance to girls, women and motherhood, but we have to uphold our tradition of praying women to protect our families, society and economic standards,” opined noted speakers like Dr Kabita Ratha and Prof Manjari Rath.
Apart from the Kanya Pujan, other programmes like Bruksha Pujan (worshipping trees), Gomata Pujan (worshipping cows) and Baitarani Pujan (worshiping river) were held on the occasion.
Swami Shankarananda Giri, Swami Asimananda Saraswati and Swami Brahmananda Saraswati Maharaj delivered spiritual discourses and gave blessing to all present.
Foundation president Dr Purnachandra Mohapatra, working president Murali Manohar Sharma and general secretary Anil Dhir coordinated the programme.
Among others, organising committee chairman Dr Bimalendu Mohanty, welcome committee chairman Kishanlal Bharatiya and secretary Laxmanji Mahipal were present. The four-day fair had been inaugurated by Gajapati Maharaja Dibayasingha Deb in the presence of saints like Swami Paramhansh Prajnanandaji Maharaj, senor social activists Indresh Kumar and Gunabanta Kothari, among others.
