BMS FLAYS CENTRE’S PRO-CORPORATE POLICY

Bhubaneswar,21/9-Criticising the pro-corporate, disinvestment and FDI policy of the Centre, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) national president Baidyanath Ray on his maiden visit to Rourkela said the Modi Government is urban centric ignoring 73.5 per cent people of country’s rural population.
He said the political parties encouraging FDI, corporate houses and disinvestment have vested interest in doing so. Funding by the corporate houses to the parties has made the elections costliest. On the contrary, workers have no wage, job and social security.
“Now the overseas companies are targeting India as labour cost is cheap here. So investing Rs 100, they are eyeing to take away Rs 250 to their country. Even the Government plans to privatise all social security schemes like pension, PF, ESI etc. of the workers. Within the tenure of UPA, the unemployment had gone up from 4.3 per cent to 5.29 per cent and the present NDA Government’s policy has further pushed it up,” said Ray
On being asked why his organization withdrew from its national strike, he said BMS has not withdrawn its strike; rather has deferred it for the time being keeping faith on the written assurance by the Government after a discussion with all the frontline trade union leaders.  He said the Government also agreed to take steps on revamping of labour, industrial and trade union laws.
He lamented that the Government was not fulfilling its promises and predicted that given the costly Bihar Assembly polls, the Government may not be able to give industrial workers bonus. He also criticised the Atal Pension Yojana and Jan Dhan Yojana.
