PURI: As part of the ongoing probe into the inordinate delay and disturbance in Brahma Parivartan ritual of the four deities in Jagannath Temple here, four Badagrahi Daitapatis (entrusted with performing the Brahma Parivartan ritual) submitted their statements before Chief Administrator of the temple Suresh Chandra Mahapatra on Sunday.
The Badagrahi Daitapatis - Nabakishore Patimahapatra for Lord Sudarshan, Haladhar Dasmahapatra for Lord Balabhadra, Ramchandra Dasmahapatra for Devi Subhadra and Jagannath Swain Mahapatra, for Lord Jagannath - appeared in the court of the Chief Administrator on the day.
Earlier, the temple administration had served showcause notices on the four Badagrahis, Biswakarmas besides president and secretary of the Daitapati Nijog asking them to submit their statements by June 21. They were directed to describe the situations that led to the disturbance in performing the ritual. Mohapatra urged other Daitapatis, intending to reveal the truth, to file their statements with the court and assured to keep their names secret.
Showcause notice has also been issued to the Pradhan Acharya of Swotriya Brahmins Prasanna Mohapatra who performed the 11-day Mahayajna in Koili Baikuntha asking him to explain the delay in ‘Purna Ahuti’. The ‘Purna Ahuti’, which was scheduled at 4.30 pm on Monday, was held at 2.30 am on Tuesday.
Chief of Chhatis Nijog Janardan Pattajoshi Mahapatra, considered second most important servitor after Gajapati in the hierarchy of Sri Jagannath Temple servitors, demanded stringent punishment against the persons found guilty.
At the Chhatis Nijog meeting here on Sunday, it was decided not to perform the 13th day ceremony (Shradha) of the deities. It was also decided to refund the money of devotees deposited in the temple’s account for the purpose. Suresh Chandra Mohapatra also attended the meeting.
