GOVT BREACHING COW PROTECTION LAW’

Bhubaneswar,31/5-Article 48 of the Indian Constitution lays stress on growth and protection of cows. Unfortunately, the Union and State Governments are breaching this Constitutional provision and protecting the violators, rued Paramahamsha Prajnanananda here on Sunday.

Speaking at a Press conference organised by the Odisha Goseva Samiti, Prajnanananda said Mahatma Gandhi had assured cow slaughter would be banned soon after the country’s Independence. Besides illustrious personalities like Lokamanya Tilak and the first President Dr Rajendra Prasad had emphasised that ban on cow slaughter would bring in affluence to the country.
“From ancient times, the scriptures have instructed us to safeguard cows and accord them their due position. By Gomata, we mean Indian-born or native cows. Native cow milk and urine are regarded as Amrit or ambrosia as it is wholesome and nutritious. Milk of foreign cows is unsuitable for health,” he said.

This is the observation of foreign scientists and researchers. The scientists have divided cows into two groups. Whereas the milk of other cows is included in A1 category, the milk of Indian cows is included in A2 category. A2 is regarded as superior to A1 milk, he said.
The Samiti has toured all the 30 districts of Odisha and attempted to arouse and awaken the people about the service and welfare and protection of cows. To expedite the mission, a quarterly literature named ‘Go Kalyan’ would be published by the Samiti and it would be unveiled here on June 5.
Prajnanananda said that in Odisha, there are five breeds of native cows. But unfortunately, most of the people are unaware about them. The State Animal Resources Department is yet to give this information to the Central Government.
