SUBHADRA DARU REACHES KOILI BAIKUNTHA

The Daru of Devi Subhadra was taken to Koili Baikuntha inside the Shree Jagannath Temple here on Tuesday morning.
Earlier in the day, thousands of devotees pulled the Daru Sagadi (cart carrying the wood) of the Goddess from the Yajna Nrusingha temple. The Sagadi was later taken to the Singhadwara (Lion’s Gate) of the temple from where it was taken to the Uttar Dwar (north gate) via the Paschim Dwar (western gate).
The Sagadi was taken to Koili Baikuntha at 10.20 am after the temple servitors performed the rituals.
The Darus of Lord Sudarshan and Lord Balabhadra had already been placed at Koili Baikuntha for construction of the images of the deities for the upcoming Nabakalebar.
Meanwhile, the Chaupata (wood shaping) ritual after axing of Lord Jagannath’s Daru is underway at Kharipadia in Jagatsinghpur district.
Though the ritual was expected to be completed on Tuesday, heavy rain on Monday threw all the proceeding out of gear, which delayed the proceedings. The construction of Sagadi which will be used to transport the logs to the Jagannath Temple was in full swing.
“We have planned to leave Kharipadia at 5 pm on Wednesday,” said Lord Jagannath’s chief custodian (Mukhya Badagrahi) Jagannath Swain Mohapatra
