Puri: Shankaracharya of Govardhan Peeth Swami Nischalananda Saraswati has agreed to be part of the rituals of Debasnana Purnima and climb the chariots along with six of his disciples during Rath Yatra. This was informed by Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb who called on the seer on Tuesday. Shankaracharya accepted the invitation by Gajapati Maharaja.
The Maharaja reached Govardhan Peeth along with Administrator of the Shree Mandir and members of the temple management committee in order to invite Shankaracharya formally for Debasnana Purnima and Rath Yatra.
Notably, last year in its invitation to the Shankaracharya, the temple administration had asked him to have darshan of the deities atop the chariots alone without his disciples. Insulted by the administration’s action, the Shankaracharya had refrained from having darshan of the deities atop the chariots.
