WESTERN IMPACT ON INDIAN LITERATURE LAMENTED

Bhubaneswar-A team of representatives of the Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad came on a visit here on Wednesday and held discussions on the organisation and functions of the council in the State.
On the occasion, a writers’ conclave was held by the Bhubaneswar branch of the Parishad under the chairmanship of Ladu Kishore Padhiary. In the conclave, the speakers spoke about the individuality of Odia language and literature. Besides, they also lamented over the impact of western culture on the Indian literature.
Noted writer Rusi Kumar Misra from Uttar Pradesh sought cooperation of Odia writers in the council’s effort to maintain a harmony between various language-based people in the country through literature. Among others, writers Prof Nagendranath Pradhan and Dr Basant Panda and dramatist Purnachandra Mallick were present.
